I live about 20 miles (30ish km) from Fort Worth. It's a great city. The Stockyards are great, but also don't miss out on seeing the Water Gardens, the Arboretum, or the Fort Worth Zoo.
Public drinking is normally not allowed; however, in certain tourist areas with sidewalk restaurants and cafes, local ordinances may allow open containers and beverages.
I work in the stockyards and have a little advice for you. if you come and want to buy a hat or boots, buy them outside of the tourist areas they mark up the prices. remember its a tourist area so most things will be a little high. when here and thinking of food I recommend trying some BBQ shrimp from risky's bbg just across from the maze.
I'm from Minnesota, but I have been to Fort Worth. It's a really nice place. Brownsville Texas is also under rated. Everyone said stay away from both of them, but they were awesome.
Great reaction! I'm glad you would like to add this to your travel plans. If you want to see horses and longhorns, this is a good place to see them up close. 👍🐴🐄❤
You absolutely must stay at Miss Mollies. It was a brothel back in the day and everything is still original! Make sure you stay in the suite as it has the only private bathroom and has an adjoining room for the kids! It is also known to be haunted! It has just a handful of rooms, all decorated different and shares a common bathroom. We had a blast when we stayed there and we only live about 10 miles from the Stockyards! Also, take the Grapevine Vintage train ride. It comes with an old fashion train robbery!
I'm from Fort Worth. We have lots of great stuff to see here, such as the Stockyards you saw in the video, a nationally recognized zoo, great museums, and lots of other attractions. I would also recommend San Antonio as a great place to visit. They have the Alamo and the Riverwalk, and a lot of other great sites.
From the Texas Longhorn Breeders Association website : Longhorn beef is leaner than other breeds and is lower in saturated fats. Packed full of flavor, Longhorn beef has less cholesterol and calories than white meat. Including lean beef in a heart-healthy diet can positively impact blood cholesterol levels.
When I was a kid, there used to be a field across from my house, and it had a bunch of long horns. In the morning going to school they would be at the fence mooing.
I live just a hundred miles north of there and have been going there off and on for almost 40 years. As a matter of fact I'm going there this weekend to join up with friends and family. Love that place.
She didn’t even go into Billy Bob’s. It is a bar/live music/rodeo/game place. They have multiple stages in there, dance floors, a rodeo arena, mechanical bull, arcade games, and plenty of bars inside. OK for kids during the day, but for adults only at night during some events.
Since you liked the railroad there, I'll let you know that there are quite a few of them scattered around the country. Two I've ridden are the ride through Royal Gorge, and the Durango & Silverton RR, both in Colorado. When she got to the 19:12 point, she talked about the horse driven carriages and conestoga wagons. I'd call them stagecoaches and covered wagons, which is what they're called in many to most Westerns. At around 20:20, the river reminded me of the River Walk in San Antonio.
You are also super close to Dallas where the girls can shop, you can check out a sports game (they have all leagues), eat Terry Black's, and visit Southfork Ranch since u said u watched Dallas back in the day, lol.
Ft Worth is a great place to live and raise children. Dallas also offers a lot of other things to do. The Dallas Ft Worth area is a thriving and great place to live and visit.
Great video! I live in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The stock yards are truly historic awesomeness. ♥️Hugs beautiful family. GOD BLESS YOUR FAMILY AND GOD BLESS AMERICA!
There is a farm up the road from me in central NY state (Finger Lakes Region) that has longhorns. They're beautiful animals to see in person, very impressive. I'd see them every day for a few months, until my commute changed.
You'll see Longhorns on ranches all over Texas. They're basically pets although some do raise them for money. My Father bought a country place in Maryland and some of his buddies from Texas got together and bought a Longhorn and had it shipped to him. He Loved that thing!! I think he liked it mainly for the reactions the people in Maryland had when seeing it. They're not exactly common up north.
Public drinking rules and laws in the US are different everywhere. Some towns only let you drink in public during special events or on certain streets while others make it completely illegal. You must check with the locals of the area or you could get a huge fine or arrested. Always ask before drinking.
I don’t drink so I don’t know all the places you can drink openly, but ball games are one of those places. I have been to festivals where people openly had beer or wine. Walking around with alcohol is not limited to tourist places.
If Jono doesn’t know how to do certain construction jobs, I sure hope he is watching a lot of videos on how to lay bricks and other things he needs to do. Sometimes people are satisfied with the aesthetics, but underneath the construction of something may not be up to par. I wish you much success in your renovations.
In America, you are not allowed to drive without a license as well. You may not get arrested, but they will not allow you to drive away. They may ask you to call someone to pick you up, have a licensed driver drive your car or they might impound your car.
Lived in Fort Worth for about 13 years and now living about an hour south west of it. It's such a nice city. Big, but not hectic like Dallas. Don't Dallas my Fort Worth! I'm with you though, I don't like being a passenger in a car I don't have any control! There's no pedals!
Jono, just because they have a lot of bars and drink spots does not mean you can get an alcoholic drink and walk around with it. There are absolutely no drink and walk allowed in Texas. Some states do have laxer laws, so be sure to check it out online before you come over to be sure you don't wind up in trouble. You can purchase a drink, but you must sit and drink it, then get up and continue to tour.
Before it was known as North Fort Worth. It was called Nile City and those Stock Yards along with Omaha and Chicago kept America alive during the great depression. Nile City was the richest nineteen acers in America.
There was a woman in the old Wild West that came from what is now Nové Zámky, Slovakia; Mary Katherine Horony Cummings aka Big Nose Kate. She hung-out with Doc Holliday and the Earps next to the OK Corral. Curious if you know if there's any memorial (plaque, sign or other) of her in her home town?
When you come to America, and if you do not have a navigational system in the car, use Siri and not Google maps. Bought a year ago a British couple came to America and use Google maps and they took an hour just to find a Starbucks because streets were closed. If they had asked Siri “where is the nearest Starbucks?” They would have been directed on the right street that were not closed. Are use Siri all the time for directions. I will ask “directions to 123 Main St.“ hopefully you can navigate your way through America with few problems. I look forward to your family visiting the US.
I hope you have a meetup when you come to visit North Texas. It would be a nice to meet all of you…. Unless we become political refugees because soon to be President you know who…
I pass around the stockyards all the time and it’s one tourist area where everything is over priced 😂 do I think the stockyards are worth to go and explore absolutely
Ranches still do "drives" . That is how cattle are moved from winter to summer pastures/ranges for example. The huge cattle drives, like to a rail head, and hence the " cowboy era" was only about a 30 year span. Approximately 1855 - 1885. The expansion of the railroad network made them unnecessary. "Cowboy" was a derogatory term for most of the 19th century. Drover or Hand e.g. " ranch hand" were the preferred term.
especially in tourist areas, any drinking in public laws are generally ignored unless you are being disorderly and causing a problem. There are festivals and other places where people are drinking while walking around all the time. Just don't cause a fuss, don't drive and you are fine. Now if you are at .... say...a bank or shopping center that is not in a place like the Stockyards, you might have some explaining to do if you are drinking. Generally speaking, if drinks are being sold on the street, you can drink them there. If not, don't.
6 feet from tip to tip is not from the cattle head to the tip of the horn. It is actually 3 ft. for each Horne or a total of 6 feet across. It’s not 12 feet across.
Every state is different and some places in states and cities it's permitted like The French Quarter in New Orleans. Remember guys, the Fort Worth Stockyards is a tourist area not the city of Fort Worth.
🤣 I just saw a meme with a covered wagon just like the one in this video with a caption saying " The indigenous urge to burn it" 🤣I knew i wasn't the only one 🤣
I wouldnt drive anything but a truck!! And it's gotta be a 4x4!! I have a Toyota Tundra thats jacked up a bit with 35 inch tires. It'll pass anything but a gas station......
The Longhorn breed is not well known. They are temperamental. They don't make good pets, Jono. The ones you see in Fort Worth walking along the streets are probably pretty old & much more docile. I live in Fort Worth and many of the locals even do the 'touristy' stuff. Walk a little further or drive a bit & the shops are much more reasonably priced. Not that you shouldn't visit all of these. For nightly entertainment, also visit Sundance Square. In the summer there will be free concerts & open entertainment. Old fashioned but different from the Stockyards. They do still have cattle auctions just west of downtown.
You don't want to drink in public unless there are signs indicating it is allowed. Most of these are either roped off areas or else at festivals (within the festival grounds). If in doubt, look around and see if anyone else is drinking in public. If the locals are doing it then you will be allowed to drink also. There may be some smaller states that don't care but most will have restrictions to public drinking. If you travel to Texas, it would actually be great for RVing and you can do all kinds of stuff in just that one state. There is Austin, Hueston, Ft Worth, Dallas, and many more places. Activities including rodeos and horseback riding and gun shooting. You can even ride up into Oklahoma to check out some Indian Powwows just north of Texas. There is a large Indian population there but check the powwow calendar to know when and where these are. Just like rodeos, you never know where they will be except look them up online for dates and times.
You can drink publicity in some states; especially fairs...you just can act like a degenerite....be responsible for your actions and have fun. Life is about respect. Respect for nature, yourself and others. 💕
U can drink anywhere in most places but a lot of places can't bring any kind of drink in stores. U can't drink alcohol while u drive but can drink water, coffee, or soft drinks.
I live in Fort Worth. The entire stockyards area is open container so you can walk the whole area with alcoholic drinks
I live in Weatherford
I live in Westlake but also own land in Springtown & Azle
Open container and open carry. Not a great combination.
@@nukemanmd never been a problem, mind your own business.

@bobloblawlawbomb4054 Nice call out to Austin. I didn't mention that in my original comment. I've never been to Kyle, so I can't reply on that.

I love the longhorns too especially medium yum
My family and I love living in Fort Worth. There is so much to do and so many things nearby. We live 10 miles (16 km) from the Stockyards.

4:50, well they sure don’t raise them to be chickens. Actually at 4:44. Lmao

Hi from USA
I live down the street from the stockyards, glad to see you making a reaction video about it
There is a farm up the road from me in central NY state (Finger Lakes Region) that has longhorns. They're beautiful animals to see in person, very impressive. I'd see them every day for a few months, until my commute changed.

Cow Town/Fort Worth is very nice
Jon you will find really good foods there
I went to Graduate School in Ft. Worth. It's fabulous. You'll love it.
In the state of Texas, you are allowed to consume alcohol in public areas so long as those areas are considered to be club premises.
We need to send you some Texas Longhorns football merch!
Don't be a tea sipper 😊😊😊
Nice video, Hook'em Horns 🤘 peace from Central Texas.
The laws vary on drinking in public.
In Texas you can pretty much drink anywhere in the state as long as you dont get hammered.
Yes, people eat Longhorn cattle. It's considered a good quality meat. 😊
I think you would look like Chuck Norris, Texas Ranger in a Cowboy hat (Light colors for the good guys, dark for the bad guys (old movies).
I'm a military veteran from South Carolina I have a pancreatic birth defect and so I pray for your health issues God bless
I live a couple of miles south of the stockyards. It's a neat place. Some good food downtown as well.
My son was just transfered to the Navy Air Base in Fort Worth. He wants me to come join him and I am considering it.

If you would cold drinks.try Billybob's world largest honk tonk.
Longhorn cattle is not a common beef source in the US.
In Texas, you might also like San Antonio, Laredo or even El Paso. They are that old time Texas.
Longhorns are great at breaking fences, most times not on purpose though.
