A female Malayan tapir (14) and her daughter (4) snoozing around, juicing watermelons, competing for a banana, taking a bath, chilling out underwater, and generally causing havoc at glacial speed!
People seem to think they're some kind of elephant, ant eater, or even a "walking watermelon"! That last appellation comes from a sign outside the paddock which refers to the black and white stripes on a juvenile tapir.
You can hear one family's hilarious conversation about these creatures who are totally alien to most urbanites: "Walking watermelon? Watermeeeeelon? Sign says 'walking watermelon'. Where's that? I don't know. There! That's the walking watermelon!"
