  • To Olympic skiing legend Bode Miller, life is lived on a knife edge. You never know how different things could be if not for a choice here, or a twist of fate there. In "Forces of Nature," Miller reflects on the path he's taken, the heights he's reached, the tragedy he's endured, and how it's all carried him to a new home: Big Sky Country in Montana.

I am so very sorry for your loss. The human spirit and the push for doing our very best with who we are is a gift to give if we are able to keep moving forward despite our critics we become inspiration. Bode you are an inspiration and as you become an old man it will be a pleasure to see where and how you push that Spirit.
I am no medal winner, but I am a very determined 65 year old artist/athlete/father/friend. My greatest driving purpose is to encourage others to keep reaching for their dreams, to never quit. Maybe one day we can ride a chair and share the view, no Superman cape’s required!!

Wow. Bode, thank you for sharing such depth and vulnerability. May the memories of your baby girl always be blessed for you and your wife. I have a baby boy, baby girl, and one baby on the way and their their safety and growth are always top of mind for me, both in positive and scary ways. The way you shared epitomizes both. Take care, Jordan Michael Myers

Hay my hart goes out with you. I watched your short story before I go out and teach some little ones to ski for first time. I’m with you the pain never ends but we just learn to keep moving forward. I know teach children to ski has helped me. But I’ll never stop missing my little girl and boy. Keep the skis on the hill brother.

What a heart-felt very real story of life. Bode's highs were packed against the tragic lows. It teaches us to persevere. Emma's drowning was especially sad for me since I design natural waters for swimming and recreation. A point is always made to make them drowning-resistant because of gradual shorelines that allow even a toddler to walk out. If only .....
