Just got into brewing, made 23 liters my first time and now im hooked. Thanks for the awesome videos!
Thank you for the great complement and for watching my videos...I am glad that I could help. Congrats on your first successful batch...home brewing is a fantastic hobby...with great benefits too :P Make sure to sub if haven't already, because there is much more to come. Cheers! 17
Great idea
Thank you, I just ran my first batch, I bought some bottles and then I saved some Yeungling and Negro Modello, but bought some bottles as well. I bought one of those two handed cappers, bat wing job, about 25 bucks which worked well on the purched bottles, but the saved bottles did not really have enough shoulder on them for the capper to get a purchase.I was just getting ready to order one of those lever action cappers when I thought I would check youtube. Thanks again. This is perfect. I love multi purpose tools
I am glad that I could help! Thank you for the positive feedback . I will be posting some new videos soon, so stay tuned!
this is genius. I wanted a good quality capper but they cost $200. I was going to build one because I have every tool known to man. turns out I already have the right tool. thank you.
Yeah drill presses can generate a shitload of pressure. Also a good point. I noticed too that your whole drill press column flexed horendously. Lol. That's why I went with a bigger floor model.
As long as you promise to keep bringing me some hillbilly hacks I'll definately sub. That's what my channel is all about. Love that stuff. I'm a collector of shit your great grandad used to know and I love sharing it for free.
I have subbed :) Look forward to watching your vids. Yes, my drill press was on the lower end of the price scale...gave its some TLC and now it is much sturdier...also it is much better mounted...but my shop area isn't ideal for filming. More to come! Cheers
You too feller. Can't wait.
What a cracking idea nexia ,i already have a bench capper but the lack of travel can be a pain,
Cheers mate- hhb,
cheshirehomebrew Believe it or not I still use this regularly. I have never had a broken bottle using this...but I have with my wing capper. It is a nice cheap solution to a practical brewing problem. I can cap regular bottle through bomber bottles without any issues. Cheers my friend! 17
Great video , and nice bottle capper. I love the matrix skills with the no look duck on an incoming fighter bee. keep the great videos coming. Thanks Hop Head
great solution, well done.
Just noted that the confer tree behind you inside the fence of your neighbor's compound is quite beautiful. I guess you need to complement your neighbor for keeping that beautiful tree tall and proud .
Oh yeah BTW, I love those little pollen n nectar collecting black n yellow fellas and I also love their vomit too - makes great wine... but damn they can hurt when they get angry :-) I think he thought you were trying to steal his flowers lol!!!!
Another awesome video BC brother! I currently cap my craft beer glass bottles with an old-school handheld bell-capper but now I'm thinking of attaching the bell-capper to another lever type device and see what I can come up with :-) lol! with hopefully no brew related injuries :-)
Well done mate!!
Good idea! 👍
Hey Nex, another sweet video bro !!! I need one of those, I just scored 12 dozen stubbies, cheers mate 17!!!!
Good content. Excellent video.
Many people have the same problem you're having giving a presentation.. "The Uums." I'm giving constructive criticism here. My suggestion is, this helped me, instead of saying, "Uum." try taking a breath. I hope this helps. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the video!
It is a pleasure and I hope it helps you. I have some more practical low cost build and other great videos coming in the New Year, so please stay tuned. Cheers!
Will do! Happy holidays!
brilliant! Very intelligent!
Very cool man
Great job
Nice Idea. I will probably just take a vernier caliper, measure the inside of a commercial capper and do one on the metal lathe.
An even better idea: simply buy a capper head (+-2 $) and make a small "in between" piece to be able to use this into your drilling machine. It works even better and this for a total price of < 10$.
You have to construct this "in between" piece in that way that the handle bar of the drilling machine is in his horizontal position on the moment you have to put more power on the handle.
I can relate. I was almost sold a capper for $40 to $80 cheapo.Wing cappers are a bummer too. I still spent $40 w/the malt and bubblers & yeast alone. I started to get discouraged, but your vid helped me alot. I hope I can built this too. What is really wonderful is that I already hv a drill press. for JOY!!! Heavy Duty and it works as well or better than $299 one. Genius! How long is the shaft? Respectfully, Margo
Margo Fr The shaft on my drill press is 14" (inches) high, with some extra vertical clearance from the main drill mechanism. It is the perfect size for standard beer bottles - I use a wing capper on the taller larger bomber bottles. I am glad that you enjoyed this video and I appreciate your comments. Brewing doesn't have to be expensive...just needs to be fun. Make sure you stay tuned for my DIY videos and much more. Thanks for subbing. Cheers! 17
Awesome video and concept!
Could you please elaborate on how you made the capper? The pipe size and rod is clear. The back of the pipe is not. How did you create the "cap" at the back of the pipe (what the rod is welded to).
good one mate. hope that doesn't shorten the life of the drill. works well.17.
CorronZenith - Nothing better than getting attacked by a Bee mid-video, LOL. I think I will steer clear of that planter for a little while...ha ha.
BREWMAGOO Looking forward to receiving them! Great news on the Biz. Make sure you get an online plan in place too! ;) I am in some serious need of good brewing supplies. CheerZ mate!
It would be nice to label this video in a way that would inform the viewer that you need a drill press. Most people will not have that.
Fair point, but I think the title is accurate. 😀
Dude shorten ur intro
lol very cool! 17
***** - Thankz Dets! Coming from you that means alot! I want to encourage new brewers to give this craft a go as much as possible...and hopefully along the way be creative too. CheerZ mate... and 17
Victor Bitter Thanks Vic. No harm done to the Drill Press...Its a very durable piece of equipment, and its not running while you bottle cap. Its an easy rig to make, and a lot cheaper than getting set up right away in a kegging system. Appreciate your comments. CheerZ 17
i love it..17
so i use a wing capper & hate that stupid thing, i get them crooked sometimes or i get these screwy dimples on top from magnet....so my question is what crimps it tight? ....
i am very interested in making one of these ... oh one last Q, i have & CAN use a stick welder SO what welder did you use?
any help you provide I would be greatful!
+Sam Miee I also had a wing capper and hated it -- aside from crooked caps mine kept breaking the neck of the bottles and that was a huge pain. In the Red Neck Capper, the cap is sealed evenly by the implement. Essentially from the downward pressure of the steel passing over the cap crown (forcing the edges of the crown down and over the lip as it passes. In all honesty, since I made this I have never had an issue with "sealing". It was made with an industrial metal core welder, but I am sure any sturdy weld with a little TLC will do the trick. I will post a Red Neck Bottle Capper follow up video for you in the near future. More vids to come. Cheers 17
excelente idea amigo, puedes especificar las medidas de la pieza que fabricaste?
You could have shortened this video to one minute.
Well nex' as a matter of fact, I have, all registered and received a BN, and proposal is all done !!! Some of these stubbies have your name on them mate. Cheers 17
mrwhiteno50 Thank you! More videos to come. Please re-share. CheerZ
You have maybe technical drawing a capping bell?
Reuses old twist off bottles and caps
Hey can you help me in building caping die sir
BREWMAGOO - Great score mate! Have you had any progress on your big project?
que tal fazer um tutorial com as medidas do bocal;pois pelo Google translate não consegui entender.
in the beginning I thougt I was listening yo gospel....
Vid starts at 4:32
Seems to be running fine now... thank you for letting me know. Cheers
Actually, go to 5:50 for the content. Wish he described how he made the tool. That would be something.
If you have any questions I will be happy to answer them. Very simple build if you have access to a welder. Thank you for watching! Cheers
That would be great. I get the welding of the bar onto the cap. But where did the cap come from? I can only find galvanized or black pipe caps at 3/4 inch whose ID match a bottle cap's OD but they are threaded. What pipe did you start with?
father bought one like these, empty bottles are capping just fine, but when we tried filled bottles, they exploded and glass and liquid was all over the room, so be careful
faltou as medidas da ferramenta para podermos copiar
+Luciano Marques The measurements appear later in my ramble: 1 1/2" OD PIPE ( 1 1/4" ID), cut to 1/2" depth (I can double check that for you) cap one end, attach a 1 1/2" length of 1/2" mild steel round bar. If you have any other questions please let me know. Thank you for watching. Cheers 17
So, instead of buying a bench capper you can buy a few more expensive tools like a drill press and weld or metal lathe and make your own!!! 🤦♂️
Time4Another1 - Thank you! Amazing the solutions you can come up with when you are a cheapskate like me ;) CheerZ
very cool, but you say erm way to much.
