I honestly don't understand why Taiwan is so underrated. It's an affordable country. It's a democracy. It doesn't have any religious nonsense. The people are very friendly. It's just as quirky and hip as Japan and South Korea. I don't understand. Is it because people are afraid of its proximity to China?
Maybe because it's not as "fun" as Japan or SK. Top of my head, I can already think of a dozen fun activities to do in Japan, all of which are wildly different from each other, catering to various age groups

There is a variety of option, Taiwan is very modern. You have taxis, Uber, buses, MRT, and bicycle sharing “YouBike. Payments are also easy, cash, credit card or what I recommend buy an easy card which you can top up and basically pay all transportation options..

One thing I'll definitely do the next time I go is to do a day trip from Taipei to Jioufen city. It is stunning Taiwanese old Town.
