Now I will show You how to get microworm starter for free. and you can re-culture it by Your self. just watch my video and you will know :) it's very simple. You just need potato, oatmeal, hot water, yeast and patience.
Note : It'll more effective if the soil is damp (a half wet after rain) or in rainy day. make sure your soil are rich to attract the microworm in the potato.
    [Basic Question & Answer]
[Q] : Did the culture smell gross ?
[A] : The answer is Yes and No. It will smell gross after the first culture because we use the "potato" for the starter. it will eventually didn't smell gross anymore after you doing continue culture maybe after three or four time changing the "culture media" (oatmeal + yeast).
[Q] : For the culture media, can you use bread or potato instead ? (without oatmeal + yeast)
[A] : You can use only potato, "But" it will STINK! You can also use bread instead, but i suggest use original flavor (without any flavor : sweet, cheese, chocolate .etc). but for the best media i'm still prefer Oatmeal + Yeast because it work the best "in my opinion"
( some people ask me can yo use banana instead of potato ? I think it will work same as banana worm but i have never tried it yet ...)
[Q] : Why use yeast in the culture media ?
[A] : In this case the yeast have function as preservative for the culture media itself it will protect the media from any bacteria or fungi that will make the culture crash.
[Q] : You told from the tittle without starter... But you adding starter !!!
[A] : I'm sorry but this is some stupid Question. and i believe you didn't watch the video till the end. or you just skip the video timeline. We collect THE STARTER from THE POTATO and NOT BUY IT from local fish store. so it's 100% free if you already have all the ingredient.

Thanks to you, I did a variation on this successfully! I placed a slice of potato I had scored on one side in a container of compost I got from my garden pile. I punched a few holes in the lid, stored the container on the floor of my garage to prevent freezing and waited 3-4 weeks. When the potato started to decompose, I noticed the surface looked slimy. When I checked with a hand lens, I saw the micro worms. Next I scraped the worms off and placed them in some cooked oatmeal. Let them reproduce, then voila! Saved me $12 plus shipping!

I didn't expect this to work, but it did! I buried 5 potato haves partially hallowed out with hole down across my yard (Arkansas) and marked them with white flags, left them for about 6 days, then dumped them into a large jar with oatmeal, yeast, misted with spray bottle. I forgot about them for a couple weeks with a coffee filter lid, and checked expecting nothing, to see it FILLED with micro worms. :D So I'm going to split the mega culture into smaller containers and supplement my betta fry. I red too much microworms causes them not to develop correctly though.

It's a great way to find microworms in nature! but for culturing I prefer porridge only (without yeast) and in full light - I've been keeping them for half a year, very productive and easy.
