This is what I assume some professional detailers use when I ask what coating they use, and they answer along the lines of "propriety coating that only our company has"
Detailer here. This comment has me dying. Lol. But I'm finally starting my own business but I always got in arguments with owners at other places I worked at about this exact thing. They kept saying "we use it because of cost" my response was always "then charge more!" People really will pay more for high quality results because our cars are OUR imagine. Not to mention lots of people own certain cars because of their job and how it looks as a professional. They don't want to come back in a year mad after it all went to shit. I've seen it too many times.
There’s obviously no “miracle product”. Especially when all these companies have multiple products in their inventories. A product for every part on the car. We probably spend more on finish protection products than ever before. Nowadays the clear coat is what’s protecting the paint and the products out there do only one job and that’s to prolong the life of the clear coat. In the old days there were perhaps 10 products at the auto shop…now there’s 10,000. I think we need to find a product that fills the bill for many of us. One that we can just use and not worry that we’re going to compromise our “coating”. Auto finishes coming from the manufacturer are the best ever been…..so let’s not get crazy!
Thank you Sandro. Once again you have shown true professionalism with your unbiased testing. You are among only a few who I trust to get information from. The others can go jump. That Nova Jet looks to be quite an amazing product. I'll have to look into this a little more.
I loved this economy type potential ceramic coating test. I was curious if the next time you do a “knock off” vs test, you could include a well known ceramic against them.
Very well done and said Sandro, you're exactly right, why would you spend all the time and energy preparing the paint for a coating and then use a cheap coating that doesn't even look or last as long as a quality spray sealant.
Depending on the basic ingredient....1. silazane ( phps /opsz : phpz (hydropilic-hard) and opsz (hydrophobic-medium hard) 2. Silane (hydrophobic) 3. Polysiloxane (hydrophobic) Lot of amazone coating made from siloxane (silicone resin) its because by the price (cheap price) ..... I think jet contains a silane on it Nice review and investigate👍👍👍
I tried Mr Fix on my brand new Polo GTI and it is a really good product in my opinion. The Beading is really good and the level of gloss too. I will see how much it will last on the surfaces, but first impressions are really good
Nv lustre as a base coat, jet on top. and maintained with snow and boost has changed my life, its unreal depth and gloss. and last me 1 year. NV is the king IMO.
Although never intending to purchase such, I had wondered about amazon's offerings... Thank you for your efforts here and for all of your much appreciated videos.
I am super glad I watched this video. The main reason I was considering any of these cheap ceramic coatings was to put an extra layer of protection for some solar panels for outdoor lighting, but would not waste money on these stuff. I appreciate the video!!
Fantastic comparison. I had a future video idea for you involving cleaning/water spot removal/correcting glass. Not the most fun thing but an essential one! Take care.
Really appreciate all of your hard work involved in this upload. Great content! I really do need to investigate Nova Jet. It looks great. Thanks to this I'll quite happily skip on the cheap ceramics displayed here.
Appreciate you taking the time to complete this very detailed comparison Sandro. I'm by no means a professional detailer, but I've been mucking around with cars and bikes since the 80s. I can only assume the 'thumbs down' are from those who bought the Amazon crap...It must be very satisfying for your clients knowing that you only use quality products on their vehicles. Cheers, Ant.
Now cause you think you are professional the Amazon Ceramic Coating is crap for you. I bought and applied ceramic coating from ebay the cheap one and it's being 2 years and 3 months now still easy to wash, water beads, even when rainning don't have to use wipers only in heavy rain. It doesn't mean cause it's cheap is shit right.
Thanks Sandro I have test the MR fix ceramic coating on a everyday car The product have a durability of 3 months only As you said the price is not the only thing we must consider on a ceramic product Thanks again to open the eyes on the real world of Amazon cheapest ceramics
Sandro!!! 👋 Nice seeing another video from you. Had to laugh when you were trying to wipe off that GLS....thought you were going to tip the table off with all the struggling! Lol
Wow thank you for a very detailed video, it looks like to me that a silicon spray coating & detailing the car every four to five months is the best solution.
Even though I would never apply one of these ceramic coatings on a customer's car, I really appreciate the video and the ability to share with the customer which one would be better if they wanted to buy one and apply it. I'm not all about the sale, if the customer is more educated and happy doing it themselves, more power to them. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. I know how much it takes.
I’m sure you need to justify a $1,000 ceramic job, at minimum. This shit is so easy to apply , more customers need to understand that so they’re not getting ass raped by detainers who are charging so much money. A local company was charging $5299 for an entire car for 3 costs of ceramic and some $400 clear wrap. Lol
@@MH-wm6df That's crazy. I only sell things I have already tested as much as I can. Ceramic is one of those things that is now a buzz word. Everything has "Ceramic" in it and people are getting false claims and misinformation about it. Makes it hard to sell when some car detailers are selling a "ceramic coating" for $300 and you find it's nothing more than a quick spray they bought at their local auto parts store.
I have to admire you not offering a ceramic coating. They can be a pain to install and presents a possibility of needing to fix something when you should be delivering the car to the client. I often consider going back to Duragloss 111 + 601 as my strongest offering. It always treated me well and held up.
it looks like jet actually had the best hydrophobic properties. it doesn't even sheet, water just flat out won't stick. from gsls to jet there is just a straight line of no water on jet side, with all the water pooling from hkt toward gsls and still sheeting off while jet is already bare. nice!
After 8 years, I was able to keep my car's paint shinning like new when its clean using only Mr fix 9H. The only down side is I have to reapply a single coat every 6 months. But I think its totally worth burning few a calories considering it is cheap.
My experience (and in my testing) is that they are extremely inconsistent with their batches. I've had one Mr Fix last less than a week, one more than a year. Edit>> the one that stands out is the Nano Age/Nano Bond 9H and it's like $20 USD.
This is my favourite channel if I want to gather some information on various products. You do a fantastic job on showing basically any aspect of the tested products. For me this is the way to go, nearly a scientific approach. I hope you will get to way more subscribers so this hard work of yours will finally pay of. Keep it up! I forgot to mention: Also the quality of the videos keeps up to your high standard so the viewer experience is great in every single aspect. Again, great job!
Absolutely superb vlog Sandro I think jet is my favourite one as I like the way the water runs off so well take care best regards and stay safe to you and everyone out there Mark from billericay in the U.K. 👍👍 🇬🇧
Good video Sandro. Once the first panel was outside, you could see the dramatic difference between the products to how dark they were, with Nova Jet leaving the others well behind. Brian from Apex Detail also uses similar if not the same gloss meter in his videos, and always takes a reading before and after to show the difference in data, as your eye cannot provide that information to others, except via the camera. I would think it would be the Novice who may buy these Amazon ceramic coatings, where a person at a Beginners level of detailing would know of the reputable brands, but may use Amazon to purchase a reputable brand at a lower cost. Cheers, Ozz
Crazy to think the Nova Jet outdoes all these so called ceramic coatings from amazon, I would rather pay for C Quartz car pro knowing I am getting what I am paying for than risk buying this stuff off Amazon and this video in my mind confirmed in the car detailing game you generally get what you pay for like many things in life. As always thankyou for the informative video.
29 bucks here in the US for a 4-6 months supply. That’s a steal and honestly it’s affordable. Not going to lie, I skimp in certain areas of car cleaning such as interior cleaner/protectant because a lot of them are adequate, and they are only exposed to UV rays being inside the cabin, and on air fresheners because they’re just air fresheners. But I’m forsure adding this to my car deep cleaning routine for the exterior
Sandro, have you been a teacher in this or previous life?))) I love the way you present the info and confirm things by yoir own experience. Very good video Man. Always enjoying high quality music. I am not 100% fluent in English-English, but I have laugh from your critics and humor))) Please don't stop!
I appreciate your information. I use Mr. Fix on 5 of my vehicles and has been on the vehicles for 3 plus years with not reapplicatiion, and it is doing great. Still repells water better than you give credit. I have got my monies worth with Mr Fix
That’s great to hear, but I saw dozens different Mr Fix coatings on Amazon and eBay all with different packaging and claims so it’s quite hard to really know what your getting!
I love these comparisons, it's nice to see them side by side Be really cool if you left them outdoors and revisited them monthly, not so much for the cheap ones, but more the quality ones
21:50 chemical resistance isnt everything. in real life paint isnt really exposed to chemicals all that much. there are some coatings (TW seal and shine) which have superb chemical resistance but no abrasion resistance - they dont actually last that long in real world driving conditions but seem to last infinitly long in a lab.
Thank You for this, I was always curious about these, since Amazon always pushes these when you search other brands. I love my car too much to put them on my own car.
thanks i have a mr fix bottle but im not going to use it on the car after watching this im going to have autoglym wax on it and try mr fix on my wheels
U need on the left and right side of the glass a none coated area, so every coating has the same condition. The right coating gets water from 10 o’clock so it drops the water right on the Earth. Obviously the right coating is the best but what would happen if there’s no coated area at the edge. And: the other middle ones have to run the water downwards.
Yeah I was thinking that most auto detailers buy these ceramic coatings for $6 to $30 and charge you $300 for coating. Which I mean if it works and protects the car don’t blame the detailers would do the same thing 😊
Great video mate! Just in nick of time as I was contemplating buying one of these coatings last 3 weeks been thinking on it humming and arring as to whether they're shite or actually like the proper stuff but factory direct or something rebranded. Only thing I would say is I WISH you had done en against a proper ceramic coating and/or graphene coating for comparison to see if they even hold up as that would be interesting to see whether they even hold up like they claim. Having had a ceramic coating when they first came out when I bought a brand new BMW back in 2007 I paid quite a bit extra to have the paint ceramic coated. Not sure how long it lasted tbh, but I'd think not as long as it was supposed to like 2 years or something like it was supposed to. Anyway good video maybe you could do a comparison between the Top brands ceramics and graphene mate? Like Autoglym, Turtle Wax, and a few of the other Top brands to see how they perform side by side.. Thanks from London England 👍💪😎
@@MegaFregel That's like saying that these Amazon coatings are better than Cquartz, Gtechnic etc because they are cheaper.. Have not seen a decent comparison video yet of ADBL
I detect that you're a stickler for spelling, grammar, and all things linguistics Sandro!!! Good on you mate - we're going to be a dying breed in the world soon.... Glad I use Nova Jet on my cars!!! Chose them based on your 'recommendation' too about 6 months ago. :D :D :D
Hi, thank you for your detailed review of these. I personally bought a amazon ceramic coating called 'Diamond 10H' and I had nothing to compare it to. Just wondering if you are going to do a video on amazon graphene coating? I would love to see graphenecompared to ceramic coatings.
Interesting why didn't you do a third panel where you put this ceramic down and then put the sealer on top. I think that is the way it's supposed to be done cheers Graham
Any Si02 based coatings Achilles Heel is Water Spots. Out here where I live? In the SoCal Low Deserts with temps on average 115F and with monsoons that come by really show how these coatings fail. I am not talking about just these mentioned, I have never used these, I have used other brands from CarPro ect. When you combine extreme heat, and rain, then back to extreme heat all within a 30 minute time span these coatings create water spots that are so bad you literally have to compound your entire vehicle. Yes, you can put this or that on top of the coating but defeats the whole sales pitch for the coatings then doesn't it? You say coating in a sentence at a car show around here they all will roll their eyes at you. I do feel coatings have a place in the detail arsenal but I do feel they are overhyped and over priced for what they are. Keep in mind Si02 runs about $3 a pound and there is only fractions of that in your $70 bottle of your nanocoating. So what does work well in these extreme conditions? Well, I have found that carbonized polymers like CarPro Gliss work reasonable well, MUCH better than Si02 as a stand alone. So much so, I would skip the coating all together and just use Gliss. You will lose the abrasion resistance, but you won't have nearly the water spot issues. Also, Polyamino silicones work very well. Duragloss 111 and 105 come to mind. Side by side they worked so well vs a nano coating though do need to be applied more frequently. So its all a give and take. People will argue left and right, but I have seen it first hand with my own eyes, with my own cars. Just trying to pass the info along. Take it from it whatever you like. 😎
@@COC785 no tried other Si02 based products and they water spot way to easily. Imagine a thunderstorm then 110F heat on your coated vehicle? You basically have to compound the whole vehicle. Have had much better luck using a polyamino silicone base sealant just works for my area and application. Si02 isn't the greatest in some applications and areas.
I have no clue about ceramic coatings just that they can cost a lot... I'm looking at using something on my caravan. Think it might be some sort of spray liquid
Also am curious what type of mask are you wearing while applying any kind of coating? Some of these coatings have tons of VOC's in them and are not healthy to inhale. Do you know of any type of VOC free coatings out there for those that are sensitive to the VOC's in these products? Just for people to know that are interested in trying to do a coating themselves and want to give it a go.
Sandro great job as always, totally thorough and informative. Can you answer a question for me, are you able to ceramic coat a work vehicle that has decals on it. Have you ever put car pro quartz on decals.
Great presentation to help with a proper evaluation of these products. Towards the end though I believe you may gotten a bit too philosophical regarding the costly research that top notch brands have gone through (point well taken nonetheless). I DON'T WANT TO $PEND TOO MUCH if you know what I mean 😉 so many folks like me will accept the nondurability of these products just as long as they're good enough to last between 3 - 5 wash cycles and still remain affordable. Thanks again for the video as I found it very helpful! 👍
I used those 10+ "hardness" on my motorcycle windshield 2 years ago, it cost me like 4$ and surprisingly it sheds water pretty well and is resistant to washes pretty good as well, so far no noticeable scratches. I wonder how it fair to other "premium" brands that cost 10x more.
Hi Sandro, Great video once again. Thx for that. Any chance I can purchase NV Nova Jet in Europe? I did a quick google search without results. I’d love to try it. Looks an amazing spray sealant.
Stuck around for the full 27minutes thanks to your presentation style. Objective piece here yet again. Much thanks.

@@MegaFregel That's like saying that these Amazon coatings are better than Cquartz, Gtechnic etc because they are cheaper..
Have not seen a decent comparison video yet of ADBL
@@purplehazeffc no it’s not like that because it has the same performance but doesn’t cost a fortune.
I detect that you're a stickler for spelling, grammar, and all things linguistics Sandro!!! Good on you mate - we're going to be a dying breed in the world soon.... Glad I use Nova Jet on my cars!!! Chose them based on your 'recommendation' too about 6 months ago. :D :D :D
That’s it I’m buying that nova spray coating
Hi, thank you for your detailed review of these. I personally bought a amazon ceramic coating called 'Diamond 10H' and I had nothing to compare it to. Just wondering if you are going to do a video on amazon graphene coating? I would love to see graphenecompared to ceramic coatings.
I haven’t really seen a lot of cheaper Amazon graphene coatings but I’ll add it to the list, I think it could also be quite interesting.
Great song choices.
Nice video brother!
Bravo! Thank you for the video
I would like to see other cheap ceramic coatings comparison video. Also I’m curious about an expensive new one from Chemical Guys Carbon Force.
Have you tried Cquartz SiC? It's supposed to be more resistant to water spots and slicker than Gliss.
Crazy how nv jet has not priced up at all in the 2 years since you've made this video, in tines where it seems prices are increasing everyday
what thing people need to understand is nano coating hardness is not using mohs scales but pencils scale (yes pencil like a hb crayon)
I bought one of the Chinese ceramic coatings but after watching this video I put it aside and bought Nova Jet. 🙂
Very cool test! In the future please give a chart of the values any time you use the reflection meter. :)
Jet need to give you some money mate...
I legit went out and bought it after seeing this lol as Im sure alot of others did to.
Sandro great job as always, totally thorough and informative. Can you answer a question for me, are you able to ceramic coat a work vehicle that has decals on it. Have you ever put car pro quartz on decals.
Thanks and yes I’ve coated many many decals in the past - there’s no issue.
I'd like to buy the NV Nova Jet in Spain 😮
I was expecting to see mirror finish on each test area, but frankly, I don't even see a difference between untreated and treated areas?
People had great luck with nanobond. Someone has a long term test and it's about to hit the 2 year mark.
Scott H here on youtube has like a 30 way coating test and nana bond has lasted with the best of them.
great video! ty
....so when are you getting your Mr Fix certified installer certificate?
It’s in the mail!
Great video!
I got blue bottle one from Banggood for under $10AUD cheers Graham
I used those 10+ "hardness" on my motorcycle windshield 2 years ago, it cost me like 4$ and surprisingly it sheds water pretty well and is resistant to washes pretty good as well, so far no noticeable scratches. I wonder how it fair to other "premium" brands that cost 10x more.
mr figs might be a good option for a temporary ceramic coating on unpolished paint etc? Just for 6 months of good protection i.e. winter?
Oh damn.... NV Nova Jet about to go out of stock again!
It is in the USA haha... I have a 250ml bottle of Jet and Lustre so I’m conserving them 😂
You should do a similar test with a polished test panel...
Hi Sandro,
Great video once again. Thx for that.
Any chance I can purchase NV Nova Jet in Europe? I did a quick google search without results.
I’d love to try it. Looks an amazing spray sealant.
Thanks, I think there’s a pretty good chance you’ll see it in Europe this year as it did so well in the States last year.
@@CarCraftAutoDetailing Looking forward to it. Thx for the quick answer. Love your videos and the results you get in every full detail.
did you buy somewhere in eu nova jet?
@@rebelwwg1wga431 in2detailing in the UK sells it now but I didn’t order yet. 20£ shipping cost outside the UK on a 29£ bottle is just to much.
