My rancher neighbor and I were out checking calves one day when a big red Angus started following us. As we got further away from the herd she stopped and watched. Driving to the furthest part of the pasture we found where she had hidden her calf. Picked it up, held on tight as it tried to jump off the side-by-side and started back towards the cows. When she saw us with her calf, she literally stood up on her back legs and leaped into the air, all four legs off the ground. I'll never forget watching her leap and bounce with total abandonment as she watched us get her calf to her. Truly one of my all time memories.
Awe Chigg you are such a sweet man.Thank you for helping that little calf. A true detectorist to lay it down for nature. You never cease to amaze me with your adventures and kindness.

I’m so glad everything got resolved with UA-cam Glen, your too good of a guy to have anything unfair happened to you! I just hope that guy got caught and paying the price for his mistakes! Keep up the awesome work bro and thanks for making my evening so much better! 👍😊😎

I was able to find that exact fireback or furnace plate on the new york historical society website. Search george stevenson 1763. Looks like they were produced by mary ann furnace.
Nice finds, but the best find was the calf in distress! Mama cow knew what kind of man you are! Good for you in helping that calf before the coyotes found it!!!
Thank you for saving the calf. Animals do try to communicate to humans. We just don't listen. Cool site. Who knew a well held together well. Stay safe.
Chigg's love how you are showing all of your finds regardless what it is. For new people like me it is nice to see that you have to dig a lot of stuff before you find a gem. Take care
We always knew you would go out of your way to save an animal Big or small. Thanks Chigg... you've done it again !! PS. Looks like you found time for a little digging too !! :~)
The fireplace back looks like it says Stevenson. Which might also explain the s ring. That was a very nice hunt with a lot of cool stuff. Thanks for the video chigg.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video. You found a lot of cool stuff. I especially liked the flat iron. But everything was cool. And thank you for rescuing the calf. You are such a good person. Thank you for sharing this video. God bless you.
You always seem to be in the right place to help animals. You had a lot of nice finds there and can’t wait to see what else you find when you go back there.
Awesome hunt chigg. We didn't find alot of gold an silver this go around but there's always tomorrow. An tommorow is another day. We did alot of cool relics of the days gone bye. An some signs of civil war mini balls.Great video chigg. Thanks for taken us along on your adventure. We shall catch ya on your next adventure. As always safe and happy hunting/digging. 😁👍👍
Chigg, This was a really good one because it showed how research alone isn't enough. A good eye can some times be way better. You read this one well and I really want to see follow ups with great finds. You know, jars of gold and silver coins...heheh Rik P.S., You've been so helpful to Todd and his family researching their heritage. Way to go, good guy!
You are so good at finding homesteads! It's amazing how you show us the lay out! You really found a lot of neat stuff. I love that handmade gear. So Cool! Steven piece was pretty cool, too. I Love watching you, with your hawk eyes and knowledge! Thanks for the video! Be safe!
Some of those irons did not have handles but had an attachment that a handle would drop the cooled iron onto wood stove and then would lock onto a hot iron ready to use...watched my grandmother use such an iron.
HELLO CHIGG!!! 19:05, SAW THINGY, LOL LOOKS LIKE AN OLD GROVE BORER, FOR DRAWERS AND THAT TYPE OF STUFF. P,S METAL DETECTING NC! GOT YOUR AUTOGRAFT FOR ME WHEN YOU WERE AT THE LAST DETECTING GATHERING. FORGET THE NAME OF THE EVENT NOW BUT THANK YOU VERY MUCH. I'M GEORGE. LOL
Snakes were popular symbols in the Victorian era. Wedding bands were shaped like entwined snakes (Queen Victoria had a snake wedding band). They were symbols of eternal love.
Beautiful I really have to thank you for all the Years and thousands of hours of work you have put into videos 😁 I have watched every single one and a few over 20 times 😁 But thanks man for all the fine work and always in a great mood...
That gear looks like a part of the sawmill for pulling boards through a planer. Great video really enjoyed it thank you for posting it keep up the good work so much of what is going on
The bit of porcelain with squiggly lines and dots has a pattern similar to some calico buttons. Calico buttons were made starting about 1840, according to a bit of online history I found.
Oh oh, you have your thumb wrapped up. 😳. Hope you heal up good and quick. 🙂 LOL! It’s just a grub. 😛 57... 😉. 😁 Nice gear. Would look great in a display. Was that a Seagram’s whiskey distillery tag? Ha ha! That calf didn’t know he could get himself out of there until you came along. That was heartwarming to see on this Mother’s Day (today). 🥰. Thanks.
That gear at 1905 may be an old hand forged mechanical locking gear for a hand cranked winches. Used to use those to open wooden grain silo doors back in the day here in America's hat (Canada).
Several years ago I help save a farmers bull that got stuck in some barbwire. It got stuck in the tail end of his pond where the fence went across. He always tried to chase me out before but now after we worked for about three hours to get him loose he tolerates me.👍☮️🤔
That one peice that looks like a gear is probably part of some kind of a ratcheting device on a farm implement to tight a strap, similar to a strap ratchet commonly found on a flat semi trailer to tighten those thick, heavy straps to bind the load.
the handle might not be broken off that old flat iron chig. some of them had removable handles so the hausfrau could switch out a cooled off one for a hot one off the stove and keep on ironing. the round gear looking bit looks like part of the blades to an old meat grinder like my grandmother used. the square hold was part of the shaft sticking out that you could attach different blades to grind the meat finer or courser. yea on the calf rescue!
Pretty cool stuff today. Hey, have you ever thought about bringing a small water bottle with you that you can set on 'mist', to spray the smaller items with like buttons, so you can clear the dirt off? Perhaps you should? //// I've binged watched you all day, and while I usually watch you on facebook, watching you on youtube is better, sooo I subscribed. Cool video, thanks!
Chigg the handle was probably not broken off the iron. My grandma used these when I was little. She had several and the handle slipped out to go into another iron so the irons were always hot. You did not have to wait for them to heat back up. That was long ago for me as I will be 71 my next birthday.

A rathched gear from a comalong or similar

The Blacksmith tool was part of a top tool like a swage or a hot cut. It is a stuck tool hence the mushrooming on the pol.

Hey Chigg! The S on the ring matches the Stevens on the fireback!

Aqua chigger dude what’s going on I never got notification is UA-cam being an ass again 🧐🇮🇹🐾🦊
We have an iron just like the one you found except it is in much better shape because it was never buried in a field.
the handle might not be broken off that old flat iron chig. some of them had removable handles so the hausfrau could switch out a cooled off one for a hot one off the stove and keep on ironing.
the round gear looking bit looks like part of the blades to an old meat grinder like my grandmother used. the square hold was part of the shaft sticking out that you could attach different blades to grind the meat finer or courser.
yea on the calf rescue!
Not a saw but a ratchet gear to stop reverse rotation!😁
Lucky the Chig was around! Good hunt..
Hey Chigg you did well there. We need to hit that chimney just west of there.
Nice hunt!
The little saw or sprocket, reminds me of parts of a old meat grinder my mom use to have
It is a one way ratchet for a tensioning device. Probably for a wire fence.
@@marksadventurechannel8471 i think it was part of a ratcheting fence tightener
@@marksadventurechannel8471 it does look like one of those old meat grinder sprockets!
@@madamecampsalot6384 It's not. Like Tom and I said, it is part of a fence tensioner. I have used a lot of them.
That little gear that you found that you thought was a small saw blade I do believe is actually a ratchet gear for a fence stretcher

at 1926 - not a weird saw, it's a one-way ratchet pawl, wind it one way it rotates, wind it the other, it blocks, like on a cable-winch.
Chigg the handle was probably not broken off the iron. My grandma used these when I was little. She had several and the handle slipped out to go into another iron so the irons were always hot. You are right they heated the irons but not the handle. That way the handle sated cool to touch.
Id love to see a video on how to get permissions give the whole walk trough!
Chigg! We sew in the late Iron Age! Of course there is Iron!
It's an iron cast.
Gear from a handiman.
Lawnmower blade fragment.
Need to go back with a small coil. There's something good there. Waiting for you.
It's worth going back and really working that one over
That little saw thing you found it's a disk off a hand cranked meat grinder I still have one
Chiggs- I was ready to jump through the screen and grab those grub worms😂. They are awesome fish bait 😎😎
