I've had these with smoked salmon. Delicious.
Love cucumber and cream cheese sandwich 's, I spent two years in Scotland, tea time with little sandwiches and pastries, yum!
I love them Being from KY we would call these Benedictine and added green food coloring. I lived on them during my high school years. ❤
Never had a cucumber sandwich! That Sucks
Thanks to you I will this week.
Came here to say this. ☝🏻Benedictine on white bread and pimento cheese on wheat was standard party fare (Derby parties or any kind of party.) 😊
Boy does this ever take me back. My grandmother made this recipe except hers called for some snipped dill to taste and Meyer lemon juice. It tastes so much like summer.
I was wondering how some dill would be on them. I love dill!
My own dear Momma sliced the crusts off the bread and then cut the crustless bread diagonally into triangles, sometimes she would toast the bread and then add the cucumber sandwich topping. Nice memories.
You can't go wrong with cucumbers and cream cheese together. The pimentos add nice color. Very pretty!onions are good too.
Mmmm, cucumber sandwiches, tomato sandwiches, peanut butter and bacon sandwiches, peanut butter and pickle sandwiches, and peanut butter, pickle and liverwurst sandwiches--or any combination of the above--all with mayo and/or cream cheese, of course. This sure stirred up memories. I once had a green olive and walnut sandwich. I found a recipe that uses pecans, and luckily, I have pecan trees, so I will be making one of these.Tiny squeeze of lemon or lime in any of these mixtures will send it over the top. Or...rice vinegar. Dang, now I'm hungry for fancy little sandwiches.
Reminds me of English High Tea! Wonderful little sandwiches.
Cute . They look like the tiny sandwich’s or finger sandwiches the church ladies would make on the last Wednesday night at prayer meeting.
They would have cucumber sandwiches
Peanut butter and jelly, and palmetto pimento cheese sandwiches good memories ❤
My mom made them for circle meetings( womens church group), and showers etc. was considered then in my memory as “ ladies finger food”. But they were good. She used white bread, crusts removed and made into squares or rectangles, smallish in size.
Yes,square with no crust
My momma always makes them with Pepperidge Farm very thin white bread with no crusts, and she cuts them into rectangles, too! She calls them finger food, or lady sandwiches.
I've never made these but I've had the pleasure of eating them. The way that I always saw them made was cutting the crust off first and then making a Criss cross-cut in the piece of bread so you had four triangles. But then you use two triangles for each finger sandwich with the cucumber mix in the middle. That's not the important part of course the cucumber is, and I haven't had this for years. I think I'm going to use your recipe! I even remember years ago that they sold little loaves of bread with no crust that came in colors, pink blue yellow. As I recall it was made specifically for making finger sandwiches.
My mother first made them for a friend’s wedding shower. Then I started making them for the family. I made them a couple of years ago for my book club. Everyone raved. My mother used thin white bread, cut the crust off then cut the sandwiches in to quarters. Yummy!
My mama use to make finger sandwiches and set up the card taable in front of tv for a picnic with my sister. Love your channel.
Oh Tammy they look beautiful and delicious ❤❤❤❤❤ we made theses for my mommas last birthday tea before she went home to be with Jesus. ♥️♥️♥️♥️
I've never had these, but I do love cucumbers. I will definitely be making these. 🤗
Love cucumber sandwiches! My mama was from Ireland and she would make Tea Parties for me and my sister with cucumber sandwiches and little cakes.
I still make cucumber sandwiches. I finely chop green olives( remove pimento for garnish)and mix with my cream cheese (no onion) Spread on bread rounds and top with slice of cucumber...delish!
I used to make cucumber sandwiches for the ladies at church functions. They were always very popular. I would put a little dill in sometimes. I have some cucumbers in the fridge; I'll have to make some for Lenten Friday!
We made them using little party rye bread spread cream cheese topped with a slice or two of thin cucumber then sprinkled with dill. I like to make them your way. They are refreshing. Thanks for the video. We also called them Benedictine sandwiches and sometimes the cream cheese had a little green food coloring added. Kentucky girl.
Dill tastes good mixed in too. I've had cucumber slices and cream cheese on bread slices, cut corner to corner with dill sprinkled on top. Delish! Baby shower. Thanks for the reminder. I'll make these this summer.
Never had cucumber sandwiches...but now I will. They look delicious and are easy to prepare!!!😋 Tammy thanks for sharing and God bless you and Chris in all that you do. ❤️💕❤️
I have had them many times and I thing mayonnaise was added. Yours look great. Wish I had some to snack on.
Benadictine! 🥒 yummmmlicious!
I’ve had cucumbers ON a sandwich but have never tried this. Looks delicious
I have never heard of cucumber sandwich until my 40s. I'm from Tampa Florida. I have to try this a ways Thank You 🤗
It has been years since I have had this. I amgoing to make some. Thanks!!!!
So I am 65 years young. I have read about cucumber sandwiches in my romance novel. And I thought they were made up. Today is thee first time I am seeing them made and eaten. I can't wait to make these. Thank you more than you know!
Hi tammy and family
Look delicious mmm
We love all with the love of the LORD JESUS CHRIST
Thank you for sharing
Can't remember the last time I had this! It's been too long, though. They are so yummylicious, especially in the hot summer, with a glass of iced tea.
I add a teaspoon of Hidden Valley Italian salad dressing mix. And its so good.
PS save that left over bread for making bread balls for fishin. We always fished with drained can corn and bread balls. Love ya
These would be the perfect appetizer for the upcoming Easter holiday! It's enough to put a little something in your tummy to hold you over until suppertime. Thank you for sharing this with us. 💜🥒🍞
I was thinking that and the apple jello salad would be great for additional Easter Eats.
@@catholicfaithofmine2664 Oh my, that sounds really good too! 💜
Yum! I have never had one but that is about to change. I have all the ingredients so it's what's for lunch tomorrow!
I had cucumber sandwiches at my wedding reception on the buffet. Just love them!
I’ve gone to tea parties and I brought these sandwiches…yummy
Tammy, I’m 76 y/o and my mama made this and I was told it originated in Kentucky and was used for Derby appetizers and served on small patty rye bread. The cucumber is grated and the liquid is tightly drained off. The onion is scooped with the curved part of a spoon and that liquid and pulp is mixed together with the cream cheese. Texture can be adjusted with Mayo if desired. Salt but no pepper is added. It’s so yummy and pretty unique outside Kentucky parties. It’s called Benedictine and a few drops of green food color give it a delightful pastel color.
I love cucumber sandwiches!! ❤❤
I went to my first ever tea party this year at an awesome area library and they had cucumber sandwiches. Yours look delish and I may take some like yours to the next tea! Thanks!!
Something so simple and so good!
I make something similar. Use mini bagels halves, spread some cream cheese, add a slice of cucumber and top with some dill. Delicious
Never had cucumber sandwiches. Can't wait to make it. We made our banana sandwiches with mayo on one slice of bread & peanut butter on the other. 😋
Try Italian dressing in them also. Delicious
I have always loved cucumber 🥒 sandwiches . I will try your recipe for them. Everything you make is so delicious.
Can’t wait for garden cucumbers. These look so good. Back in the day, I use to do some catering and made these for weddings.
I have that chopper and I’m in love with it. I use the small one for dicing up onions for chicken salad or tuna salad. Not everyone likes a big ole chunk of onion. I definitely do… love my onions. I know these sandwiches will be amazing. Everything you cook makes my mouth water. I’m going to get one of those lil pull string choppers too. Looks very handy. Have a blessed day sweet lady… you too Chris 😊❤
I miss Benedictine on toast, sandwiches, etc. It was sold everywhere, but now people have no idea what it is ‼️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I recall these appearing at most church luncheons and tea rooms. 💕
Oh yes I've many cucumber sandwiches in my life. I haven't had one in years though due to health issues. But I know my family will love this recipe. Can't go wrong with cream cheese!
I have had them and made them!!! For showered!!! It's been years since I've had them!!! Thank you for reminding me!!! God Bless!!!
Never tried this looks good: gotta try it
My mom worked in a country club as a waitress and these were served as finger sandwiches for the ladies bridge club.
I love this recipe. When my kids were small we use to have tea parties and they loved it. I made the little "Baby Shower" foods (cucumber sandwich's and pineapple spread sandwich's) and brought out the best tea cups. Sweet sweet memories. Were a homeschooling family so this was part of our Home Economic days. A great video idea would be on typical Baby Shower, or Tea Party foods in the South.
There’s nothing better than those yummy foods our moms used to make!
I am huge cream cheese fan!! These sandwiches look delicious! ❤️
Tammy, years ago I had a tea room. But I made cucumber sandwiches so differently. Now all my friends come over for afternoon tea and I'm making your recipe next time that happens!❤
Wish we had a nice tea room in our area. We used to have 2 and they were lovely.
My Mama made open faced sandwiches for showers by mixing crushed pineapple (drained) and cream cheese together on white bread and 1/2 of a cherry on top! Those are delicious too!
I love cucumber sandwiches! I think I had them at showers. Thank you!
Looks delish! I’m gonna make them for sure for a baby shower
I had cucumber sandwiches for the first time at a B&B in Savannah. Ga. I’m from Alabama and we did not eat cucumber Sandwiches growing up, but they were so delicious.
Love them
Yum yum yum
Hey Tammy so good to see you!!! The cucumber sandwich looks so delicious. Thanks for the recipe. ❤NewJersey❤
Hey Chris ✌🏻
Yummy! Love fresh cucumber!
Never had cucumber sandwiches, these sound awesome 👏
I love them! I love your um um um’s!
My mother always took me to the quilting bee that she went to every week at 1 of the members homes to help quilt a quilt that was in progress at one of the homes. We would go to that persons house every week until her quilt was finished , then start going to the next persons house that had her quilt top ready to start doing the quilting on till it was finished. Each member made her own quilt top but when it was time to quilt it, she would have an all day quilting bee and serve us a nice little lunch. Those were the good old days. I’m 88 now but I remember them so well and I had my own little sewing kit to work on my doll quilt that was made from the scraps the ladies saved for me. Waste not want not in those days. ( late 30 ‘s early 40 ‘s I was about 7 years old but my mama taught me to sew when I was about 5 and to take tiny stitches in a straight row. Sorry this is so long, guess I got carried away with my good memories. I love watching you cook Tammy and use lots of your recipes bc I still like to cook. Even if it’s just for myself now. Is that Chris singing at the beginning of the video bc it sounds like him. Very good voice.
No it is Tony Adams
Looks yummy
Had card shaped cookie cutters …hearts, spades, etc. for party sandwiches. Think bread must have been bigger 70 years ago. No problem making 4 cuts.
N
Never had cucumber sandwich. Looks yummy. I must try these👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️💕😍
Hi from Southern California. I grew up in the 50s in Connecticut and remember asking my mother for store bought bread; she always made our bread and biscuits but *never* made corn bread. I only found out when I was grown that my father refused to have corn meal in the house. He'd grown up poor and they had to eat corn bread, and mush so often he couldn't stand it.
i love cornbread and cornmeal mush. its comfort food to me. just put a little molasses on it. yum! thats what i grew up on
69 years old and never had a cucumber sandwich! I would have eaten one had I been around them because I love cucumbers.
The boursin garlic and herb cream cheese works great for these sandwiches too❤
I have never had one, will have to try it. Thanks God bless
Looks delicious and easy to make. Never thought about something like this. Blessings
My mom made cucumber sandwiches occasionally for her bridge club get togethers. I have a vague memory of trying one. Yours look delicious!
We use cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, and others when our Women’s Home League would hold our spring tea and also for our bazaars. It brought in a few dollars for our church programs.
I like your version much better! Yummm! I’ve had at an afternoon tea, with scones and other finger sandwiches and dessert.
❤yummy. I had them at cookouts and after church fellowship luncheon.
Looks yummy. I have had cucumber sandwiches but never with onions. That sounds delicious!
I’ve always loved those but have never made them. Your recipe seems easy enough. My kids will love them. I made chicken salad the other day and my kids ate it all before my husband got any! He works second and I thought there would be enough for him to take to work the next day. I had used 4 maybe 5 big chicken breast! They are a 12 year old boy and 10 year old girl who try to eat us out of house and home! Lol! They are growing.
Will be trying this looks good be blessed🙏
That looks yummy!!! I love fresh dill, I wonder if that would work?
Such a refreshing flavor
A friend of mine made these and sprinkled a little bit of garlic salt/garlic powder on hers. They are very good!
Those are cute little finger sandwiches . 😊
I love cucumbers but I never had a cucumber sandwich will have to try it soon
I had cucumber sandwiches in Great Britain for tea. I've had them at other tea houses here in the states. All were prepared differently, and all were delicious. I'm a huge fan of cucumbers. I use them on my sandwiches with all kinds of meat. They add such a nice crunch and freshness.
Hungry for summertime
This is a bliss from the past. My mom would make them for “special” occasions. Baby showers and church functions. We always called them fancy lady sandwiches. Thanks for the reminder!
My girlfriend made sandwiches like this, but with a little grated garlic instead of onion. Now I've gotta have me one!! 😋
When I was a child,my mom talked about these as being petite party sandwiches.
Never had cucumber sandwiches before. Thanks for the recipe. It looks delicious. I’ll have to try it.
I had them at a church dinner. I just never had a recipe. Thank you.
My mother-in-law made biscuits and cornbread every day of her marriage. They did not eat “light bread”, store bought sandwich bread. Her and her husband were from Eldorado, Arkansas. She was born in an abandoned railroad box car. She cooked country food like your mother.
My Mom made cucumber sandwiches. She added a little mayo to the softened cream cheese, spread on the sandwich and topped with sliced cucumbers. Yummm
Had them different ways at weddings big hit. I like the pimento.
Looks yummy Thanks for sharing
When cakes are in season I eat a plain cake and mayo sandwich here at home all the time!!!
I would add a little bit of ranch seasoning
This looks delicious! I will be trying it! 😮😅❤
