Steven, I used to do the exact same thing as “Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing” to my husband, Hank years before you wrote that song!!! I thought people would think I was crazy if I told them. He was an A & P mechanic & went on fire contracts & flew with the aerial firefighters so he was gone for weeks & months at a time. Tragically, he & the pilot were killed on their way home from a fkn arson fire when the Bell 212 they were flying in fkn dismantled in mid fkn air & they were burned beyond recognition when the ship hit the ground. My best friend of 10 1/2 years came home in ashes in a fkn plastic bag😤😤That was almost 20 years ago & I miss him more then ever 😥I’ve never remarried & had only 1 relationship for 3 years which was a complete horrible mistake!!! I started writing a song for him that I need to finish; it’s just something I need to do for him, myself & our daughter who was only 8 when he died 😥 Thank you all y’all for listening. My advice-never go to bed or leave the house angry no matter how pissed off you are-give a hug, kiss & an I love you to your person (including kids) it could be the last time you see them. We never did that so I don’t have to live with the guilt you’d be living with. Sorry about the book-length text, but I hope someone will seriously take my advice!!!!
