      Kay K depends on marketing strategies, target customer populations, packaging, locations (they are in sephora or on normal selling website). For example, ordinary products only about $10/product, about $5 for scientific research, $5 left for actual products, packaging, staff. If the company owns the formulation, like they discovery the active ingredient, they may cost extra for creativity. Like SKII found out the ingredient from fermented rice. So that’s why they are so expensive but secret key or missha are less expensive even their essences using the same formulation. Also formulation. We all look at key ingredients AHA BHA retinoid vitamin C. They may have all those ingredients but the way they formulate it, the ratio, the surfactants are different and cost differently. But mostly, we have paid a lot of money for the brand name and marketing

    I really enjoy the “Simple” brands Water Boost Hydrating Gel Cream, It’s easily a dupe for the Tatcha and Neutrogena Hydroboost. And it’s only $7.99. And it’s unscented with no added fragrance. Got it at Target

    Silicones is probably least likely to be the ingredient that caused a allergic reaction. It’s used in hospitals because of the fact that it rarely gives any allergic reaction or irritation. The neutrogena moisturizer has fragrance and phenoxyethanol that are known to cause irritation and skin sensitivity.
    Edit: the point being is that I am not putting down the quality and validity of the neutrogena gel-cream. I am addressing the rising trend of silicone being downplayed in skincare products that was derived from a misunderstanding and oversimplification of how silicone interacts with your skin. If you look past the trend on clean and natural beauty, silicone is actually an example of how chemistry has created a safe and beneficial ingredient. (Allergies still exist but aren’t common if not rare)

      The aqua-gel(water-gel) have fragrance in it. And it contains dimethicone which is silicone and that clogging my pores as hell. Every time I put it on, I feel like there is a thin film or weird layer on top of my skin and I hate that feeling.

    • @enzo6016
      @enzo6016 5 років тому +17

      Its Luoi this was on Paula’s choice and talks about how there’s not much evidence if any on silicone causing acne. They also say that “Perhaps the most telling reason why silicones do not clog pores and cause acne (or blackheads) is because, from a chemistry standpoint, most silicones are volatile substances. That means their initially viscous (thick) texture evaporates quickly and does not penetrate the pore lining where acne is formed.” Honestly there are so many other ingredients that have been proven to be irritating and silicone should be one of the last things to worry about. (Unless you have an allergic reaction to silicone which is rare but Danielle Frank has one)

Thanks for your consideration to answer my question.

      hi Rachel! second what Emi said 😊only thing I'd add is SPF daily. physical exfoliants we don't need daily, chemical exfoliants are something we can slowly work into our routine and eventually incorporate on a more daily basis if you need (ie, most chemical exfoliants recommend starting 1-2/week then using daily if/when skin can tolerate)

    I love your videos! I am always looking forward to them!
    About the b-hydra serum: I loved using it while I did but it is made to be a small step in the larger Drunk Elephant regimen. A lot of their products can be used on their own but the b-hydra I think is really designed to be used in conjunction with their other products. I'm pretty sure the instructions for both the C-Firma and the Glycolic Night Serum say to use the b-hydra right after, followed up by a moisturizer and/or the marula oil. They even suggest cocktailing everything together if you want (which I never did-- because, come on, the whole fun is in doing things slowly step by step).
    So yeah, I never found it hydrating but it was so soothing and felt cooling on my skin after the more active vitamin c or aha/bha serums. Then I always followed up with at least the marula oil. The b-hydra just kind of paved the way for the real moisturizing stuff. Having said that... this all made for a super expensive skincare routine so I am still on the hunt for a more moderately priced skincare routine that will give me the same results. Soooo I am super looking forward to the Vitamin C and Glycolic Acid videos you promised here!

    I use the Drunk Elephant and I love it, it is true when you say it’s not that hydrating forsure. I have very very dry skin in winter and oil/dry in summer so I’m mostly dry. I love this sermon for the evening of skin property and with constant use will give your skin a beautiful glow BUT I do use Juno Super fruit face oil with the serum and that’s my holy grail mix that works for my skin ☺️
    I remember taking the Hydra to Kauai with me on vacation (I don’t wear foundation) and everyone was asking me what I put in my skin to make it look so healthy, smooth, and glowy

    I absolutely SWEAR by DE's B-hydra, but mainly as a product to mix with others. Morning and night, when I'm using either my facial oil or moisturiser I will always mix a pump of this in with it. I feel like it helps spread my moisturiser over my skin better and in combination with an oil it just feels really nice! My favourite cocktail is to mix 2 pumps of b-hydra with lala retro whipped cream. My skin feels moisturised AND hydrated.

    • @AbsolutChibi
      @AbsolutChibi 5 років тому

      This is the way it's meant to be used really, it's even mentioned in their website. They should just say it's meant to be used this way, instead of a suggestion. As of now I mix this with the farmacy honey moon glow or de's framboos serum

    • @victoriahunter8516
      @victoriahunter8516 5 років тому

      @@AbsolutChibi Yeah I think lots of people used to use it purely as a moisturiser too, so DE changed the name from "gel" to "serum". I still see a lot of people say they don't feel like this does enough for their skin, but quite often that comes down to them not mixing it with other products like it's designed to be used.

    I have sensitive, acne-prone skin and LOVE the Innisfree pore clay mask!! It gave me the same results as the glam glow mask without causing as much irritation. The formula is a little thick though - it helps to apply with a flat silicone brush to get a thin even layer - then you can really see the "pore-sucking" action.

    HYALURONIC ACID : I heard (on another skincare channel, I'm sorry I wish I could remember which!) this "hydrating" acid is supposed to work like this: It gathers nearby moisture and stores in (in the skin).
    This means, **if you are in a humid location**, it *pulls the moisture in the air* into your skin.
    If you're like me, dry skin in a desert area, the only place it CAN draw moisture from, is your skin. So that's why it can feel plump at first and then even more DRY, because it is. This is my frustration with hyaluronic acid because I definitely feel more irritation and dryness when I use it.

    • @ScorpioMystik07
      @ScorpioMystik07 5 років тому +8

      Yes, you're correct. The HA molecules are attracted to each other. Thats why you need a moisturing layer to seal in the hydration layer of your skin.

    • @ScorpioMystik07
      @ScorpioMystik07 5 років тому +2

      @@SalsaCharms Yes, most people don't realize this. I am a medical resident so buried deep in medical journals all the time hehe. Do use a humidifier in your room too, does help a lot! :) If after hydrating and moisturizing you skin still feels dry, you can try a facial oil on top of that to really seal everything in.

    I swear by Aztec bentonite clay masks. I also make masks with besam( chick pea flour) mixed with turmeric, Greek yogurt and almond oil. I agree with your assessment of the Drunk Elephant hydra B gel. Out of all the Drunk elephant products I use that is my least favorite. I don't find it very moisturizing. I usually make a cocktail and mix it with a moisturizer and or the marula oil. Luckily I had received it in a drunk elephant kit as well as used Sephora perk points to get it so I didn't have to pay the $52.
