      sk thank you so much for taking the time to write that out! I definitely have struggled with proper order in the past but thankfully looked into pH to better understand order! I realize my question was vague but I meant more in terms of what ingredients to avoid layering like aha/bha, retinol, vit c, etc. Seems like there are lots of different arguments and opinions and myths... 🤔🥴🤯

    Personally, I love Good Molecules! I just started using some of their products for about two weeks and I'm surprised on how fast yet gentle their products are. The Cleansing Balm is great and emulsifies very well! I have been using their Discoloration serum twice daily and the Vit C Booster once a week and I am freakin shook my dudes. My friends and mom are complementing my skin as of recently, my PIH scars are fading so quickly! Guys please don't sleep in this brand, this is literally perfecting my skin by the days!! I'm trying to put everyone I know on them lol

    I purchased 5 of their products (cleansing balm, brightening toner, daily brightening serum, discoloration correcting serum, and ultra hydrating facial oil) to add to my routine and my hyperpigmentation is fading and my dry skin is so hydrated and moisturized. Thanks for the video because adding those products I have solidified my routine😍.
    I even have my friend hooked on the toner. She thought her skin didn't take Niacinamide well due to a couple breakouts from other products that had it but she loves the brightening toner.

Now it’s soooo much clearer, no more cysts and I’m just left with dark spots to fade. I’m so happy and excited that I can move my face without it hurting. Getting educated about skin care was one of my favorite (and most worth it!) things I did this summer.

    How can we tell if our skin barrier is compromised?? Also, is it ok to use an AHA toner followed by a BHA serum??

    • @kaiitsang
      @kaiitsang 5 років тому +16

      Broken skin barrier is most notably when your skincare products with or without actives cause stinging when applied to the skin. The skin will also find it extremely tough to maintain moisture on the outer layer of the skin even when you provide many layers of hydration. It is ok to use aha and bha together but it depends if your skin is sensitive prone or also how well your skin has been used to acids. Just pay attention to your skin and how it feels after both acids. If it's not right then take a step away from the acids for a few days and continue when your ready :)

      KaiTSANGASONG hi! I’m so so new to skincare and read this comment and this is so me! My skin never feels moisturized or looks like it is even after I use a great one. Any guidance on what I need to do to help skin barrier? Or what I should use? Help!

    • @kaiitsang
      @kaiitsang 5 років тому

      @@damariseliza5526 hello! Well do you use any strong actives or prescriptions like tretinoin on your face currently? If not then maybe you have dehydrated skin and not damaged skin barrier. Damaged skin barrier is most prominently from overwashing the face, over exfoliating the face and also sun damage. You want to provide both moisture and hydration to your skin to repair broken skin barrier. That means using a hydrating toner beforehand or even applying your moisturiser to damp skin to lock in the moisture. Using an occlusive like aquaphor or cerave healing ointment over your moisturiser can further help lock in moisture to your skin. Ingredients to look out that are known for repairing or soothing are: aloe vera, ceramides, niacinimide, cholesterol, fatty acids, snail mucin, panthenol, centella assietica to name a few. Even on dehydrated skin this routine will be beneficial for you. Hope this helps. Look up skincareaddiction on Reddit for a plethora of knowledge on skincare. Honestly a lot of stuff in the market doesn't function as marketed and is overhyped until you begin to educate yourself :)

    Ohh, squalane oil should be at the end of your routine? After serums? I have a retinol in squalane that I’ve been using before my serums because I thought since it was so much thinner than them it goes first. Is that incorrect? The retinol squalane should go after my serums?

    • @BeautyWithin

      Some formulations are different, we're just referring to the squalane oil in this line designed to be used towards the end of the routine, or with a moisturizer. I thought Vit C cant be used with Niacinamide? Glad you guys said I can combine it though, makes my life slightly simpler!

      There’s a lot of back and forth on this. If you do use them together, just use one during the day and one during the night.

    • @Krcko202
      @Krcko202 5 років тому +4

      The study that suggests this is quite an old and flawed one and imo doesnt really apply in average day to day use so combining these two should be fine but you can just use one in the AM and the other in the PM

    • @katelynmeeker4802

      You can use em together (without separating AM and PM) but you may experience some flushing redness initially. Depends on experience.

    Really interested in niacinamide... If I had to choose one would you recommend the toner or the serum? Can you use both? What is the benefit of one over the other?

  • @staryankamil

    Is there an order to apply/layer serums? Like brightening first, then the other. Or it can be any order? Then do we wait a few seconds before applying the next serum or just put everything at once?

    • @BeautyWithin
      @BeautyWithin  5 років тому +1

      Typically anything with vitamin C is effective at a lower pH level, which is why these types of serums are applied first, and also it's why they tend to tingle a little more. Vitamin C is a popular ingredient in brightening serums, so you can look out for that! Hope it helps! 😊

    Is it ok to use an AHA/BHA toner and then a vitamin c serum? I know people say not to mix certain ingredients but I’m never sure if it just means when they’re both the same step in the skincare routine (ie. if they’re both serums)

    • @inayatjain2973
      @inayatjain2973 5 років тому

      blackbirdflyyx I used to use vitamin c serums with the Paula’s choice BHA liquid and I didn’t notice anything but stopped using them together just in case. Now I use vitamin c in the morning and BHA and night so they don’t mix. Just go with whatever works with your skin.

    PSA!! For environmentally conscious folks, check the ingredients for microplastics. A reviewer wrote that the super peptide serum has microplastics, so I looked into it. The acrylate crosspolymer in it is a category Red microplastic (according the Beat the Micro Bead's site). Don't know about any other products from the line. Check.

    I just ordered the niacinamide toner and serum, peptide serum, hyaluronic acid serum, overnight exfoliating treatment and the discoloration correcting serum. Can you mix any of these and put on together? I’m not new to glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid and niacinamide. I usually use the hyaluronic acid last before moisturizer. Not sure where to use the overnight treatment in with these as my current glycolic acid is a cream so I use it last.
