- The Edmonton Oilers fell 3-2 to the Canucks in game number five of their second round series which pushed the team to the brink of elimination. With star players Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl and Zach Hyman failing to get much offense going and the Oilers going 0 for 5 on the power play, the team simply did not score enough to deserve to win.

Vancouver is just a more balanced well built team overall. Series isn’t over, Oilers are dangerous and more than capable of winning this series still. Hell of a series so far
the difference has always been people are enamoured so much with individual skills, stats, offensive power, etc... but in the end substance and everyone working as a team matters with no egos...
The Oilers are closer to a full rebuild than a Stanley cup championship.

Vancouver has made adjustments in defensive zone coverage, it's not that Edmonton's stars need to up their game it's just that Van has got their number. They are taking away their time and space. Putting your gassed stars on the ice in the last couple of minutes is not how you get it done. Van rolls four good lines, Edmonton can't win with 3 to 5 guys.

its frustrating to watch, OIlers are like playing chase. this is gunno be darn hard. they need to push hard the whole 60mins. I agree with you they looked exhausted tonight. and yeah Canucks deserved to win tonight they did great.

Oilers went 0-5 on the powerplay and 3 of those 5 calls were very questionable. They had every opportunity to win. Canucks are the deeper team on paper.

"The Canucks are just happy to be here" was a quote from a previous video that you decided to throw out there before the series even started. What happened? It is clear you have zero idea of what you are talking about when analyzing games and also round series (since you clearly didn't watch the Nashville series). Keep doubting the Canucks, this is what they do. It has been said many times over this season and post season and I'm going to repeat it now: "THE CANUCKS ARE GOOD"
Yes, from a narrative perspective, they weren't expected to be a serious stanley cup contender this season. So, making the second round with a third string goalie who had all of 12 career NHL starts would profile as a team that's having a nice run but likely wouldn't go further against a team that thoroughly dominated its first round opponent.
Still games to go, don't count out the Oilers just yet
@LockedOnOilers it's more how you wrote the Canucks off because the Oilers scored more than the Canucks did in their round one when the Nashville series was a battle of the goalies & defense. Even if the Oilers can possibly take the series, EVERY "analyst" should pack it up who said it'd be a sweep for Edmonton. The game is played on the ice, not paper.

@kwaty I think what he means is that Oilers fans just won't give The Canucks credit. There's alot of vitriol because we've been slept on for the entire series. First it was that 23/24 reporters said the Oilers would beat the Canucks. Then when things got shaky the excuse was that The Oilers are a better team but it's just the goal tending. It's only now that the Oilers are facing elimination that the Canucks are getting some kind of credit for victories against a very good team in The Oilers.

Game was there for the taking, Oilers didn't score on five power play opportunities. Sure, Vancouver had the puck more, but they didn't generate a ton of quality looks.
