Brian De Palma couldn’t keep the “Raining Stones” scene, which would have established Carrie’s Telekinesis manifesting when she was a child, because the stones looked too much like rainfall.
No, not exactly and none at all
Bob Gray... does he have familial relations with Mr. Gray from Dreamcatcher?
If there’s one author who knows how to do horror very well, it’s Stephen King
@@arthurfidas7254 yeah, that was a little over the top, but the book was amazing and scary as Hell.
@@arthurfidas7254 yes. That was pretty effed up
Well his nickname is The King of Horror so I would hope he’d write horror really well 😂😂😂
Stephen King, in my opinion, is falsely categorized as a horror novelist. To explain I feel his stories are more in-line with science fiction and fantasy than peppered generously with horror elements.
@@cjames22dox ah….yes….because a little zombie boy going around town killing people isn’t scary. Because a clown killing children isn’t scary. Because a rabid dog that won’t leave you alone isn’t scary. Stephen King imo has written some of the greatest horror stories
*You guys mention the "Alien" novelization, but I wanted to bring up "Alien: River of Pain" which depicts exactly what happens to the colony Hadley's Hope before the Marines land there in "Aliens." Highly recommend it.*
Yoooo river of pain with the full cast on audiobooks....👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 Great fuxkin read/listen definitely does a great job filling in the gap from the 1st to the 2nd
I love the It novel - the scariest parts to me were always the paragraphs between the chapters about derry's past.
It's like an VERY early well written creepy pasta series.
I guess the meaning “Read books before watching the movie” really comes to sense now!
No one reads books nowayears, Books are just Paper and they're a waste of wood!
@@michaelsimpson208 True dat, but books are most literate and verbal than movies, which are auditory and visual.
Pretty much!
@@clarinetbubbleface8655 auditory and visual is fine because technically that wouldn’t stop a movie from 100% copying a book. Problem is most movies *dont* or the movie would be too long. So yah reading the books first is the better choice
The book is almost always better than the movie BUT I usually enjoy the film adaptations too anyways!
I agree because I don't have the time I want to read
It's nice to see someone elses idea of what the book should look like. Even if they are usually pretty far off what I have in my head
Was Chucky not a book?
@@tiananesbitt7156 Nope. Child's Play was never a book.
@@PandemicCat7 I don't like reading chapter books. Enough said.
Honestly, the remake of IT falls far short of the Made-for-TV verson's quality. Though, both, for whatever reasons, really fail to do anything with the turtle, which is actually helping the children here and there in the book. I'd like to see a remake that takes this into account.
"IT" original book is a masterpiece, way better than both adaptations
Agreed. There's so much more information. The actual "it" story is unfilmable I think. There's just so much in there.
@@kelst75 don't forget the orgy.
except for the end with the orgy or whatever that is..
Good thing the movie moved away from that!
@@kelst75 it would be about 24 hours long.
I usually tend to read the book before I see the movie. But, I ALWAYS enjoy the movies. (In most cases)
Okay, novelizations do not count as reading the book. The movie is canon, not a writer's interpretation of the screenplay.
I was thinking that too. A novelization is based on a book.
I love the book reason for why Christine is haunted. The ghosts of obsession
Christine is one of my all time favorite books.
Christine got me in so much trouble as a child, apparently it was way to inappropriate for a 2nd grade book report.
@@wadesimmons7460 well, at least it wasn't IT 😁
Seriously, I don't think Christine was too bad, but I read it at 14. My first King book was Carrie at 10, so kudos to you for reading it in second grade.
I didn't know that a lot of these horror movies got novelized adaptations
Back in the day, when people read more and not everyone had the internet, Novelizations of movies were much more popular.
@@vladyvhv9579 I once read a novelized adaptation of Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.
More Horror movie stuff pls 🥺
^^^^ more plssss
Almost threw my phone at the start of the video with that high pitched screech 😂
IT didn’t possess a clown in either version. IT just took the form of a clown, among other things.
I enjoyed the Rob Zombie Halloween remake more than I expected to, so much more backstory, but I guess that's why people hate it in the first place
Had the It miniseries came out today, they could show a lot more than they did in 1990, I've seen some disturbing stuff in Chriminal Minds. They might have to leave out some colorful metaphors, but then John Mulaney pointed out Law & Order can talk about anal contusions and fecal matter in the ear canal, so any F bomb can be replaced with something just as descriptive
Hopefully the new IT tv series will be good :)
trivia: in carrie (2013), they actually filmed the awakening of carrie's power, but did not made into the final cut.
Despite being a Stephen King 'fan' I gotta say that 'The Shining' has never impressed or even scared me of sorts. I'd rate 'Phantasm' & 'Suspiria' (similar early flicks) way better. BUT...nothing comes close to IT! Read that novel so many times that each re-read opened up more chills when u picture what's being described...IMO
Honestly, sometimes I prefer not to know things when watching. More fun to just go along with it..
Like "Halloween"! What makes it great is that we do not know anything Michael Myers , he is just evil. No explanation needed or wanted..
"It" the novel, explains tons of issues the movies left out. Read it 5 times.
The OG IT 1990 Is The Best.
Tim Curry played Pennywise very well.
No
@@LFAFSTYLE Yes.
Check out the novelization’s for the Monsterverse movies. The Godzilla versus Kong novelization explains what happened to the Eco terrorists from Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The novelization of that movie also explains what was going on on skull island when King Ghidorah made his alpha call.
I was convinced that Pennywise is from the gap between dimensions, or should I say "todash"?
The thing with movie novelizations is that some if not most are based off of an earlier script and not the final o ne and do include much needed exposition.
I always like the book better. Books have more time to give details.
It’s true but everything got pros/cons for sure. Certain ppl hate reading cus it takes patience and imagination. That’s why they like movies. Glad there’s room for both
Loved this video ❤️
I prefer to watch the movie then read the book like an awesome better retelling
I dislike book to movie adaption. They change so much. Leave big chuncks out
Always thinking about the sequel how they can make more money
My question is, does a novelization of a movie really counts as a book though? 🤔
Yes
@@Noah90035 It was a rhetorical question. 😏

In Alien the company knew the creatures existed. That’s the whole reason they were assigned to the mission. The company wanted to weaponized the Aliens!!
That's stupid and makes no sense. Why would they send a group of assholes that may not even do the job instead of a professional team.
@@robirvine6970 Because they hired those assholes and I didn’t write the script or screenplay. Anyway the company use the crews as the go getters for these dangerous Aliens that they couldn’t control!
Alan Dean Foster is just awesome.
Alan Dean Foster wrote a lot of Star Trek books, covering the Original Series.
Got a question? Read the book. You can probably find the answer there
I watched the whole thing!! It took five days!!!
I want to know about The Car origin
Amazing video watch mojo of the different between the books and movies of Stephen kings, fantastic job.
thanks!
The whole point of Alien is the only other life in the universe is utterly dangerous and will destroy us
That’s part of the terror
I didn't notice that in It Chapter 2
Whether that's the idea or not it's interesting
Was just thinking about Kurt
!!!
I think 10, 9 and 7 I knew theories elsewhere, number 8 I read the book but after seeing the film, 6 the same, as with 3 and 1 I heard of the IT story before seeing mini-series then read book and saw the films.
In Alien vs Predator they go to an old temple where there’s an Alien Queen on the bottom floor. So yeah they have been encountered before.
The Alien vs Predator movies aren't considered Canon or part of the history of either the Alien or Predator franchises. They are part of their own individual story. It was a mistake on Ridley Scott's part to disregard the films.
The Salems lot book it took two TV miniseries to get it right
great video
IT Chapter 2 explained Pennywise was a shapeshifter that crashed to Earth then during the scene with Bev in her old home implied Pennywise adopted the clown form.
It looks like novels are better than films📚🎞
One MAJOR exception is The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. The movie is WAY better.
Yea but many ppl out there HATE reading (esp with no pictures) which is why they prefer film.
📺 Shining BTR! 👑
Dude, I had just been telling my friend about Gizmo having an inner monologue, and thinking about being one of the "minority", as opposed to the majority, which led a "brief but violent life"

It wasn’t a hail storm when Carrie got caught watching the neighbor sunbathing, it was rocks. Try making a video with no mistakes just one time.
Do top 10 or 20 Head decapitation in horror movies
The Omen, Friday the 13th, Hellbound: Hellraiser II are my faves...
If you can find some of these novels....some are crazy expensive 😳
Such as Where does Pennywise come from?
France
The only books I read, Horror books and Vampire books
If you read the dark tower, Dandelo is a really interesting character to compare to It. They act very different from each other but dandelos origins could explain It.
That's right nobody top's the first IT movie part's 🥳

Can you smell the circus Georgie?
Obviously you're talking to me from a sewer.
Mowgui means demons in Chinese.
I always thought Pennywise was a demon and came from hell
"For this fist" classic
This is a dumb list. If the film comes first, then the changes in the book are irrelevant.

How did the kids get out of the sewer at the end of It? It's answered in the book.
some questions are better left unanswered, lol
On first reading, the book can be a bit hard to follow as it jumps back and forth in time. No way they could do that with a movie.
@@styx53ocean “no way could they do that with a movie “😂
You must’ve never watched Juon The Grudge then (Japanese version)
One if the most non chronological films. Audience really has to pay attention or it’s really confusing
@@lessismore8533 IT would be the same way. First time I read the book, it took me a bit to get used to the jumping back and forth format. No, I haven't seen the movie, but the 1990 TV version of IT did have a few jump back and forth scenes. If I hadn't read the book first, it would have been more confusing
Yeah It being some kinda interdimensional boogeyman was weird...
It is so much stranger in full context where It is actually a nigh omnipotent God of chaos and destruction, and the second most powerful entity in all of existence

Book to movie adaptations are infamous for a good reason. I hate them with a passion and the one I hate the most by far is Bird Box. The movie was terrible. ( Love Sandra Bullock!) Not only did they make a lot of changes, but the race swapping was completely and utterly unnecessary. Not a fan.
That sounds about white 🙄
@@yomamma359
I don't know what you mean by your comment but race swapping is offensive. Whether it's from black to white or white to black.
@@saraa4353 When it comes to fiction only your type gets mad at this. We're talking about characters that don't exist. If it's a factual story it different. But 'you people' are always whining about race swapping for fictional characters, it's sad
@@yomamma359
My people? I find it laughable that you think I'm white 😄. I'm actually Arab. I don't have any Caucasian roots at all.
Race swapping is abhorrent. What's wrong with being white, black, brown? I wouldn't want Jasmine ( from Aladdin) to be played by a white girl or a black girl and i wouldnt want Miles Morales to be played by a white boy. It's important to stay true to the authenticity of any character. It sends the wrong message that there's something fundamentally and inherently wrong with pertaining to any race.
@@saraa4353 You are now talking about specific characters that would never be race swapped. Bird Box is some dude that could be played by any race it's not specific to the story, and you still find a reason to complain. The fact you are not white makes it worse. And somehow that's the reason you didn't like the movie, a meaningless race swap?
King's mini series of The Shining sucks beyond words.

🚗 🖊️ tr Christine XLNT!
Did anyone notice she accidentally said "1958" instead of "1983" or was that just me?
The movie book takes place in 1983. Christine the car is a 1958 model
I have a complicated relationship with kings books. They are hit and miss for me, and I tend to think he's overrated. I will often love his book, It for example, only to end up hating or being underwhelmed by the explanation and/or ending. I say overrated, but I really can't explain why. There's something hidden in the shadows of his books that I really dislike. The only books I've wholly enjoyed are The Eyes of the Dragon and Pet Sematary, though it's been many years since I've read Eyes.

I hated the IT remake. It was so hokey and awful. The CGI was laughable and Skarsgard made a too-obvious creepy clown. Who would even be fooled by him for half a second?
I don’t hate the IT remake, but I do prefer the 1990 miniseries. The remake had the time and budget needed to include more of the book in the movie. However while the miniseries has the lower production value, it did a better job of telling the original story.

While there are several novel-to-film adaptations listed which do have particular details not included the associated movie, novelizations after the fact are simply cheap. The original screenwriter's intent should be primary; if the movie doesn't explain, it was because screenwriter or director didn't think those details important or germane.
This narrator is wholesale ted
The movie adaptation of It SUCKED!!!!! They shit all over the novel.
Some thing the Rob Zombie version did that made a little bit of sense and kinda answers the question of "why didn't he kill the baby?" the baby being Laurie Strode. They don;t come right out and say it but if you pay attention all the tells are there of why. Everyone except for his Mother and Laurie Harmed him either emotionally or physically or both. Even his big sister didn't treat him very nicely. I mean you have to sorta have younger sibling to understand it but younger siblings can often be annoying and all they really want is to be included. Unfortunately they are often to young to be include din all the big kid fun. They are often to small or don't get all the same jokes that you and your friends tell so it becomes less fun for you because you have to watch out for them. Now he couldn't have had fun with them anyway as they were well you know. The only people who hadn't hurt him was his mother who was working at the time and the baby who wasn't big enough to really do anything except maybe pull hair. So That was why I thought maybe he didn't kill her. Now i hate the way the version ended cause it was kinda silly but the first movie answered some questions. Also that is NOT how you say Samhain. The word is derived form Gaelic and the correct pronunciation is Sow-in. Please log that in the notes somewhere or something. Hurts little every time I hear it mispronounced
