It's less that it's "not scary" to modern audiences, so much as modern audiences have grown largely numb to stalker-killer plotlines in this day and age (and largely lack patience for a movie killer that takes their time tormenting their victims psychologically instead of jumping straight to the kills.)

Back then in 2014, Critical reception of Brynhildr in the Darkness (2014) has mostly been negative with many reviewers comparing it to the 2004 series Elfen Lied, also created by Lynn Okamoto, and the many similarities between the two works. In reviews of the anime the story has been called "shoddy" and "incomplete" with none of the characters being particularly memorable or having much depth. In addition they have also noted the overuse of harem antics and cliches to the extent that the series often feels more like an ecchi harem comedy as opposed to a serious sci-fi/horror series.
But as years goes by , this cult hit anime series have finally gained much loved and attention that its rightfully deserved. As a "Brynhildr in the Darkness " anime fan and Horror fan ; I'm pretty sure that most of the Horror Movies in this video also gained much loved and attentions as years goes by between NOW or in the FUTURE.

I've watched most of these entries (with the exception of Jason X - stopped Friday the 13th after the second entry to the franchise) and enjoyed all of them.
Going to finish the video, sure hope Toxic Avenger in the list.
EDIT: I have never watched TCM.. bc it freaks me out.
I have (thankfully) missed some of these. Unfortunately, I did see Jaws III in 3-D and it really, really sucked. Caused me to consider swimming in the ocean, locate a shark, and punch it in the crotch.
It'd be more believable than causing it to explode with an oxygen tank.. SMDMFH 🙄
Boy, sure glad I skipped The Revenge.. a _roaring shark?!?_ wtf?
The original Wicker Man is pretty terrifying.
Editing several hours later: I must've been brain farting. Children of the Corn is on this list?!?
Really WM? I thought that film was terrifying. Maybe it's scary to those who've been surrounded by the rabidly religious.
I got a suggestion: a list of Stephen King novels (It & The Shining), novellas (Trucks & The Body) etc that have yet to be made into film.. I can list #1 right here: The Eyes of the Dragon. As far as casting goes, I'll be mighty heated if Bronson Pinchot is in the role of Flagg (unless he's unavailable or uninterested).

Shatner's trying to stop him...then he just loses, turns into a zombie, Borgnine turns into a goat, Shatner zombie randomly knocks the egg over.....And then it rains and all the zombies melt for like, 20 minutes. No Explanation. Credits roll.

This list is a bit of mess at times guys. I mean, just for starters, you’ve got movies on here that we’re never intended to be straight up horror movies. Attack of the Killer Tomatoes was meant to be a joke comedy movie. By the time Jason X came out, the Friday the 13th movie series had already become intentionally tongue and check and made for us fans just wanting to see how cleverly Jason could kill his victims. Leprechaun was also intentionally made to be a fun tongue and cheek comedy horror movie that only fans like me can appreciate. Children of the corn was terrifying in its time. Anaconda was more of an action thriller with John Voit’s character being the real villain. I know What you Did Last Summer had some decent scares. I would agree with some of the other ones like Jaws 4 and The Wicker Man were unintentionally laughably bad but at least some of them created some good memes and are still fun to watch.

No mention of The Frighteners? That was a horror movie with no scares, should have made this list.

Jason X was NEVER meant to be scary in my opinion. There was too much satire comedy. Fortunately we were treated to Freddy vs Jason 2 years later, where the comedy was necessary because of Freddy.

The Happening is part of a trilogy and it’s not the plants that are attacking, it’s an airborne virus. In Signs the aliens are doing recon (pre-attack). The Happening is the actual attack and After Earth was post-attack.

Fun and True Fact: Leprechaun was the first film role for, Jennifer Aniston 😜
Later on in her "career" she went on later to "express" her embarrassment of the role 😝 But in "Hollywood before you become a "megastar" you have to pay your "dues" first 😛

To be fair, the movies mentioned that are from the 80's WERE scary at the time. Youth today would most likely laugh watching them. Now, "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes" WAS meant to be a satire and not very scary. It was filmed that way INTENTIONALLY 😁
