- Hey my lovelies
We’ve spent so much of this week deliberating on what we should do. Keep the tub, don’t keep the tub, keep the floor don’t keep the floor.
There is a domino effect to every decision so really taking our time to figure it all out and out the puzzle pieces together in a way that makes sense to us.
I hope you’re enjoying

Your idea about making the quarters removable is great. The quarters on my FJ40 buggy are held on by 4 bolts each. Tailgate has 2 bolts. So 10 bolts and 5 minutes is all it takes me to go from “streetish” to tube buggy or as I like to say, “Party Mode”.
That’s sounds awesome and is exactly what we are shooting for! I hope we cross paths at some point so I can check it out in person! 😀🤙🏻
A case of "you do you and I'll do me". Your build, your way, love it. "Metal glueing"🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really like that Walter is in the videos more now.
Holly, i think you finally "got it", you have crossed over to a fabricator. The whole "this is mine and ill build it how i want" and meshing different kits together, using what you have is what makes our rigs great. IMO, this cant be taught, it can only be earned. Walter, its awesome to see you more in the videos! Keep it up!
Holly, we need a montage of Walter from his “this is her deal” to now with him being 100% hands on, smiling, and enjoying life.
bout time we got to see walter , the man , the myth , the ledgend !! and ofcourse hollie lol grand video yall
I am enjoying this build series. You are doing awesome with your buggy. Remember you only have to please yourself!
Hip to be Square! Yeah, some days are like that, just not feeling it. No worries! Y’all got this. Can’t wait to see the results! I liked the Jeep LJ’s. Just a little longer, better ride and more stable off road. I wondered if a JK or JL could be stretched the same way, and here you’re doing it!
It’s great to see how far you’ve come from mostly just wheeling to building your own vehicles! Well done!
Making everything more complicated is my standard operating procedure. Now I know I'm not alone and have a proper name for it. Cheers, Holly and Walter! Fowler away!
Wow! I'm surprised at how good that came out. You guys are practical and creative.🤗
Sometimes walking away from a project for a little bit all allows you to gain a new perspective! Great video and great project!
Love "Guy's Day". More Walter!
It’s your toy, you can play with it how you like. That has to be at least 90% of the fun… it’s yours and yours alone, I would imagine the folks who provided the kits secretly (or maybe quite openly) cheer your taking the raw material and making it your own
Really digging this build! I think it is awesome you have a vision......and your gonna make that vision a reality. I will be here for the long haul watching this all come together! Thank you so much for sharing
Nice fab and inspiration for my project prerunner
Always a pleasure to watch your videos!
A little trick I use on nutserts that helps them hold, undersize the hole and use a carbide burr to slowly open it till they just barely go through but have to be tapped in. Step 2, put a dab of gorilla glue on them before you crimp them on. I only go through all that on ones where accessing them to repair would be next to impossible. It works though. Oh step 3 is not to use impact on the bolts haha.
Speaking for myself and probably a lot of your subscriber, the big guy Walter is a star. Love that Walter is all in with his lovely wife/partner. Thumbs up!
Holly and Walter, and a lil bit of Matty, you are doing a great job! On a side note: It' awesome to see Walter in the videos and working and being a complete partner! I think it adds so much, more than just him peeking in ever so seldom. Good call!
I will say, hindsight is 20 20, I do think you should have tacked in some braces to keep the tub from leaning in or out. I have the poison spider armor on mine and kept the inner body. But my tub wasn't stretched, just the wheelbase. And I am 26" longer that stock 94" @ 120". 12" in front, and 14" in the rear. But it works, as mostly what I was after was to have the first thing to touch an obstacle in the front was the tires, and dropping off, the tires again(barely)
You were right, I loved this one! Modular jeep panels, nice! I’m looking forward to seeing where you are going to attach the cage to the back. Similar to factory location with “frame tie ins?”
Thats such a sweet chassis to build on
Looks great, and glad your thoughts are knowing there will be repairs. Plan for the worst and hope for the best
I like the modular vibe. The part I haven’t figured out is how you will support each back portion to hold up to a hit and not just push the whole section
There is a pretty neat plan for that… 😊
This is my dream project. very cool. can't wait to see more
Very good idea, just hang or mount all of your panels from the frame or roll bar making repairs on both the frame and rear end and body panels easier… very cool 😎
So many fun projects, Keep it up guys 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Im pretty sure Dan has built enough YJs to have figured all the guess work out. Hahaha. I do dig your idea . Maybe they will make it an option.
I think they have put together a pretty sweet front half/back half kit and, combined with all their awesome stretch armor, it’s a very well thought out and practical option for those who are starting with a functioning YJ (stock or modified)
I’m not sure it makes sense for them to make buggy parts, but Motobilt has all the machinery and certainly the skills to make that happen.
Great job I’m doing the same kit . Will have to compare the builds some time
Nice job y'all, looking good
Good job squaring that bed up. Keep on measuring twice and marking up twice, then weld weld.
We’ll spend a good amount of time making sure it’s square(ish) when the floor gets put in and the body gets bolted back into one piece.
In the beginning it seems like it’s more complicated than normal, but by the end it’ll actually be less complicated. How? I’m not sure! But that’s what we tell ourselves to help justify it right? 😂
Looking sick!!
Holly, Thank you fore being such a nice person. We visited with you this morning at Sand Hollow while you were unloading. Hope you had a good day. We did and we saw your tracks over on Triple 7. You are even cuter in person.
Hope you had an incredible day 🤘🏻
Back in the seventy's, a very famous Indy driver by the nabe of Gordon Johncock had qualified for the Indy 500 and was practicing when he suddenly pulled into the pits. When he was asked what was wrong, he simply stated " it's not fun anymore, so I'm stopping while I'm ahead." Learning when to stop is a very important key to success in life. If you don't feel into something at the moment, walk away, and come back another day.
Wow that’s actually an incredible story! Thank you for sharing
That's what happened to Richard Hammond when he crashed and totaled the Rimac Concept One. He wanted to stop while the camera crew said one more time so he gave in commenting to the effect that this would be the run when something would go terribly wrong and the rest is history. It didn't end well and they didn't come out ahead however thankfully Richard lived to talk about it and Rimac even allowed Richard the opportunity to destr... drive another Rimac.
Best!
looking good guys!
I had a buddy that built 43' FJ tub fenders out of 3/16 steel, and rolled the back corners rounded to the tailgate area, don't need to worry about dents or dings,
Wiskey or no wiskey,
Tree trunk proof. 🎉❤
Looks lovely 🌹
My lovelies
Great team .looking forward to more
Walter is the best fabricator on youtube 👍
You too make a cute couple. Welcome Walter!!!!!!!!
It's a jeep the only things that need to be square are the axels and the drivers seat. Every thing else is optional stuff for you to paint.
Considering how you use this type of vehicle, there is no way you should try to do this with a unibody shell. The solid frame is the only way to go, and that allows you the freedom to do as you wish in the shell design and construction. I love the modular approach you are taking because in the end it will make the expected maintanence much easier when needed.
Doing something new takes time.
AWESOME!
Looking good 😊Stay Safe Please 😊
Use weld nuts, they come in mild steel ready to be welded.
Holly let it grow out I think you will look grey and very distinguished but I understand if you think I am crazy. Great job you 2.
Love it
Howdy howdy mam may you an your good folks be safe an blessed ,hard work pay's off hang in there, Jeff Judah
👍
@mischiefmaker you really only have 2 options when it comes the the Scottish Hammer videos...
The intro should be:
"Time to get hammered"
Or
"Its Hammer time"
You are an absolute genius. I am definitely going to give a shout out to you in the next video, and we will definitely start the whole series with one of those.
Have you ever seen the jeep that's as big as a Humvee? The guy who built it lives in keeno Oregon. Inside of cab it has 3 bucket seats up front.
Hey! Hello Holly!!
Love the build so far just curious what's your plans for the bottom of the quarter panels?
There will be a new floor for the rear of the vehicle that will bolt to the inner fenders and the chassis. Toward the front, the rocker armor will meet up with the quarter panel (you can see that section sits a bit higher than the tub’s rocker panel) & at the rear, there will be a crossmember that sits behind the bumper and tires into the quarter panel.
Hopefully we can address that in the next video.
😎🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😎
Project (mission) creep, know it well!
Will you be putting some kind of structure inside the tub on the tail end side to help protect the back side of the tail lights from mud, sand, water, ice, and snow?
There will be a floor, but we are now trying to figure out how to mount everything so that these pieces (right corner/inner fender, left corner/inner fender and rear floor) are all easily removable. We pretty much have it figured out, but a few decisions need to be made re: mounts for the fuel cell, coilover towers & cage.
“Fowlering”. The exact opposite of “Kludgeing”. Right.
cutting to much to quickly for the build you don't know yet where your axels are going to be located how much strech you going to give just saying I think ethan allrrady did that strch only for reference, really cant wait for the outcome of the buld dont get me wrong love that your doing what you want because is yours at the end of the day🤩🤩🤩🤪🤗🤗👌👌👍👍🤜🤛💪💪💪💪
The wheelbase will be 116” - which is really the max for this chassis. If this were a home built chassis, I would agree with you, but the suspension will pretty much be exactly to WOD spec.
What are the pins called that you used to hold the panels together temporarily?
Walter, did Holly give you those white hairs in your beard????
Just Flange It and Dzus it back on Mike Finnegan.
👌✌👍☕cz
Wow,how can i address you?

Your guideline dont respect my utube viewing enjoyment
aren’t you concerned at the lack of engineering strength and safety properties considering you are just making it up as you go along???
I’ll be adding a lot more rigidity along the way you guys are going to see that we’re going to put crossbars and also in the inner fender you’re going to see us do you a lot more just to strengthen it up so it’s nice and solid
You need a plasma cutter
