@thejustinl1 because Im in the road people use, if someone was driving by they would know Im stopped and or moving backwards, it was to warn any other drives who happen to pass by while I was doing this
@slayergut this is a destruction test what regular scenario do you think would happen that would give it that much presure to pop open? when dropped and even smacked hard it stays closed...
@DK210 it floats because there is air inside the case, just like how cranberries are harvested they flood the field and they float, they too have a pocket of air in them, makes it buoyant
@BloodSeeker117 the smaller cases has a smaller lip to latchn them shut, thats why after repeated beating they open up unlike the bigger models...not really a flaw, although I suppose they would redesign it a bit, buit again these are extreme tests besides a simpel drop where it stays closed
Thanks for proving the strength of this case I just ordered 2 or them. Mostly for the need to keep things dry so I wont be taking an axe to it. But its great to see a product taken to the limit and then some!.
@NolanWhite no, if you watch the tests agin you will see it takes multiple drops before it pops open, if it fell off a sea-doo even at 50mph it would probably stay closed
R.i.p little case. Real good demonstration of just how tough pelican cases are. Im sure you can always just replace the lid and continue to use that case. Good job!
@MakNCheezed I dont, remember audio on the camera is not always what its like in person, ev ery camera will pick up sound differently too...I have a cheap tseudo big bore catback exuast, no silencer
@Dwealdric I would keep your phone in your bag, dont take it out and you wont have any problems, any other case wont protect your phone anymore is the point
@Dwealdric you missed the point of the video, once dropped it stays closed onces dropped again it stays closed are you plannign on hittign it with an axe? when it pops open it still protects whats inside, this is all for a what if situation most who buy this and use it will never even drop it
@biggytop Good eye. If I'm not mistaken, Fiskars made the camp axe for Gerber - meaning buying Fiskars is the same as buying Gerber, but Gerber tend to charge more for the exact same product, simply because they whack their name on it.
@Dwealdric think about the possible scenarios, dropped out of a tree stand, maybe dropped on a rock, or in a alke, ect, all will withstand the force and not onyl keep your phone dry but also keep it safe, as mentioned if you dont think this is safe enough your losing out, theres is nothing else safer to keep your phone in on the ,market thats made for the phone
I have the iPod case from pelican and it came with a heavy nylon strap to keep it closed. In fact the strap is permanently fixed to one side of the case. I did not see it on the iPhone one you had in the video. I have never had a problem with it and drop it all the time. Look at the ends and that is what the clear plastic pieces are on the ends.
completely unrelated, but have you seen the film "the green hornet"??? and if so, how long is it going to be until you get the 2 barrel pistol the Chudnofski has??? that thing would be amazing!!!!!!!!!!
@cutlerylover lol yeh i know but just to be 100% sure that droping it wouldn't damge the case it was just a sugestion and i know it probably wouldn't make much difference but you never know i meen when it snaps open the iphone may fall out and get damaged
Most plastics float, but not all of them, it will depend on the actual density and the form that it is in. If it doesn't displace more water than it weighs, it will sink. So it is probably a contribution of both factors being its plastic and it has air inside.
@ironlungdtoker lol, I am the only person who actually watches a video before reading comments and the description? lol, Im pretty sure the way youtube intended people to use this place was to watch the video 1st...hahaha
@biggytop It probably won't do no, and the Fiskars isn't that easy to find over here in England. Gerber are just a branch of Fiskars, so they manufacture them, and then stamp the name of whichever subsidiary company they believe sells best in each location.
"let me take these out because i dont want to ruin those"... you ran over them with a car and hit them with a hatchet! hahaha i love your videos, keep up the good work jeff
Jeff, the reason it keeps on popping open is because there is no phone in there to maintain the pressure required to keep it shut. try putting some wood underneath the pads that would rest on the phone. this should keep it shut. sorry you broke it though..
@cutlerylover the case does open. several times, perhaps not on the first drop ever, but you cant say its not a possibility that such a thing could happen. even you hitting it with your fist opened it.
@spikerbrad23 but not on the 1st try, meaning in a regular situation if you drop it, its fine and wont open, if you drop it again without closing it, it may pop open, do you know what the odds are that somone will buy this, drop it, then drop it again before trying to reclose it? almost non existent...Im not lookign to defend the product I could care less, lol, but Im pointing out the facts, even if it does open with repeated hitting you cant find somethgin stronger to protect your iphone ATM
@TheEnglishRedneck45 The fiskars model doesn't exist here(France),the Gerber is great and therer are different sizes available(don't know for the Fiskars)
@thefunnypharaoh Destroying it intentionally is NOT testing it... It is destroying it. The difference is, with this kind of testing, it's not to see how fast you can break it, but how much punishment it can take within the limitations of what you expect to reasonably encounter. Getting ran over and taking relatively solid hits from hard objects are within the realm of normal expectations. Getting hit with a 2 handed battle ax that weighs 100+ lbs IS NOT.
good test.. the pelican Website says "GREAT FOR RUGGED SPORTS - NOT FOR SWIMMING OR SUBMERGING".. you cant submerge it because of the Ear piece extension I'm guessing.
do you own a snowblower? it woulda been cool to launch in from the snow blower as if you dropped it while doin the driveway and hit it on your next pass. rip Google g1 due to this reason.
@987654321boum $20 iksnt expensive to me, although I didnt buy this case, it was sent to me to test, to show what it can withstand if an accident occurred, these are not normal tests, most likely you would just drop it on accident in which case NOTHING would happen to your phone or ipod which is good, this is just to see exactly what it would take to break it...
i bought me a pelican laptop case (1490 cc deluxe) for my hp dv7, found a used mint condition for 65 bucks. retail is over 200. can't wait for it to arrive....
Even though its popping open, I think it probably was only made for minor falls and water. I'd trust it to my Ipone... With a rubber band around it though.
@BloodSeeker117 I agree - in fact, I saw the other day that they are giving away a 1510 case w/ dividers on Twitter. What I would do to win one of those for my camera gear...
A hatchet can break it but a Honda can't because the tires are spreading the weight and aren't made of metal whereas the hatchets power is concentrated in one spot. Plus Honda is a great make of car
That was a pretty good test actually. I would purchase that product, it took a beating. Why did you leave your headphones in there though? Thanks for destroying your stuff for our amusement! Always enjoy your vids.
Hey dude you got awesome video reviews, don't pay attention to the kids though for dumb comments all I gotta say is keep up the good work %100 like your reviews Thank You!
@reyreyfan11 undr normal use it wont open is the point nothing in this video was normal wear, you cvna put it this way there isnt a stronger protective case on the planet specifically made for the iphone...
@nqkoisii astraight trade for my old car, same value, best car they had on the lot at the time...I didnt pick it specifically for it being a honda...I had a cadillac with a shit ton of problems and couldn't afford to keep fixing it, so I traded...search cutletrylover car for vids on the caddy...great car if you can afford to own one
@cutlerylover no i was about 30 seconds in n just the one sentence in the info caught my eye , still a good video tho for sure , that case its ptty sturdy
what because the honda isn't heavy enough? its meant to be a fuel efficient vehicle, not a tank. honda makes amazing cars , there 90's cars are probably the best ever made.
This is one of the best product reviews i have ever seen.

@ste3fc plugs inot the iphone or ipod and you cna plug your earphones into the port on the side, all the ifno and demo is in the review video
@maheeeee Its easily adjustable I rarely fill the sink only for shaving
R.i.p little case. Real good demonstration of just how tough pelican cases are. Im sure you can always just replace the lid and continue to use that case. Good job!
@564955charlie yeah I know but on a car exaust they are called silencers...

@LordOfTheBongos2 it rubnber whne not used the slit seals on itself now with dept of eater where pressure is involved it might open
@GMGvanS I feel like if I dont it makes me look lazy too, lol
@biggytop Good eye. If I'm not mistaken, Fiskars made the camp axe for Gerber - meaning buying Fiskars is the same as buying Gerber, but Gerber tend to charge more for the exact same product, simply because they whack their name on it.
@spikerbrad23 this case doesnt open when dropped as you will see in the video, watch it again
when you ran over it instantly reminded me of the scene of Napoleon Dynamite with the tupperware lol
@tylergran1 I never had one before why would I trust it before testing?
@m3phisto666 this is my work phone given to me by my boss, I have ZERO apps and I dont use the internet, lol...it aint fancy trust me...
"Marge, check this out, the crazy neighbour is beating up things in his yard again" ^^
@Smt923 thats the head phone jack
I have the iPod case from pelican and it came with a heavy nylon strap to keep it closed. In fact the strap is permanently fixed to one side of the case. I did not see it on the iPhone one you had in the video. I have never had a problem with it and drop it all the time. Look at the ends and that is what the clear plastic pieces are on the ends.
@NolanWhite no its the headphone jack
@verbaltag there is no latch that keeps it closed
completely unrelated, but have you seen the film "the green hornet"???
and if so, how long is it going to be until you get the 2 barrel pistol the Chudnofski has???
that thing would be amazing!!!!!!!!!!
@cutlerylover lol yeh i know but just to be 100% sure that droping it wouldn't damge the case it was just a sugestion and i know it probably wouldn't make much difference but you never know i meen when it snaps open the iphone may fall out and get damaged

@onedeadlybean thats like saying its dumb you cant use a screwdriver to hamer nails...its not made for that
@kodybum its an earphone plug thing so you can listen to your ipod while its in the case
@irulemuch isn't the black switch thing a lock to lock the case together, if not then what purpose does it serve?
@ironlungdtoker lol, I am the only person who actually watches a video before reading comments and the description? lol, Im pretty sure the way youtube intended people to use this place was to watch the video 1st...hahaha
I Just want to say thank you for doing a test on your own property for our benefit. Loving your Vids ^_^
@biggytop It probably won't do no, and the Fiskars isn't that easy to find over here in England. Gerber are just a branch of Fiskars, so they manufacture them, and then stamp the name of whichever subsidiary company they believe sells best in each location.
@cutlerylover I don't think so =\... Wouldn't the case skip across the waters surface since it floats and it hit at speed...?
When it receives a high amount of energy it opens. That way it deflects the energy from the main frame. Really interesting
"let me take these out because i dont want to ruin those"... you ran over them with a car and hit them with a hatchet! hahaha i love your videos, keep up the good work jeff
@KMTTAM I'm sure the rubber liner would absorb most of the shock.
@verbaltag
I think you are looking at the external earphone connector, it kinda looks like a latch but it´s not.
Great test!!!! The car was sick, but the axe was extreme :P
@dsheckx it doesnt open when dropped for the 1st time each and every time
Jeff, the reason it keeps on popping open is because there is no phone in there to maintain the pressure required to keep it shut. try putting some wood underneath the pads that would rest on the phone. this should keep it shut. sorry you broke it though..
@cutlerylover the case does open. several times, perhaps not on the first drop ever, but you cant say its not a possibility that such a thing could happen. even you hitting it with your fist opened it.
Love your extreme testing, man that took a beating!
@Dwealdric if you are so concerned you could just put a rubber band around it. that should keep it from popping open
@Kaboocey
Yeah, I just realized my typo as well, lol. Had a 3 and a half year old on my lap while I was typing that.
Great Marketing Video for Fiskars Axes - my prefered choice.
@CAIDMASTEROFPYRO an iphone doesnt weight much
@ArtisanTony your right, and a real man would also sit in a crash test car instead of those dummies...haha
@TheEnglishRedneck45 The fiskars model doesn't exist here(France),the Gerber is great and therer are different sizes available(don't know for the Fiskars)
Do you have another? cause i kind of feel bad you broke it.
Awesome test! Someone should produce a laptop from that material!
@thefunnypharaoh
Destroying it intentionally is NOT testing it... It is destroying it. thats impressive. i will now be getting a pelican gun case.
i bought me a pelican laptop case (1490 cc deluxe) for my hp dv7, found a used mint condition for 65 bucks. retail is over 200. can't wait for it to arrive....
the reason it floats is that the material of the pelican is a lot less dense than water, same way ice floats.
shouldnt that little black knob tun up to keep the latch from opening
What kind of plastic they make that case with? I remember Jeff taking a axe to the alleged unbreakable spyerco scales which busted much easier.
@GMGvanS I didnt expect many to read, lol I thought youtube is for lazy people thats why they like watching the videos, hahaha
hahaha i loved the accord, u need more videos of u raisin hell in it! nice video, just like always.
@cutlerylover Not a silencer, a suppressor, lol XD
Even though its popping open, I think it probably was only made for minor falls and water. I'd trust it to my Ipone... With a rubber band around it though.
@BloodSeeker117 I agree - in fact, I saw the other day that they are giving away a 1510 case w/ dividers on Twitter. What I would do to win one of those for my camera gear...
Wow that axe bouncing straight up towards you, scary!
A hatchet can break it but a Honda can't because the tires are spreading the weight and aren't made of metal whereas the hatchets power is concentrated in one spot. Plus Honda is a great make of car
Does this fit the iphone 5? ooh and it probably floats because it has a tight fit so the air inside kept it floating.. (i think)
That was a pretty good test actually. I would purchase that product, it took a beating. Why did you leave your headphones in there though? Thanks for destroying your stuff for our amusement! Always enjoy your vids.
"Let's get on to the fun part and start beatin' on this thing".
THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID :D
what is that stereo jack for on the inside of the case ?
@cutlerylover like Fonzy says thank you thank you and thank you for the demo
I wonder though if you had put it underwater after it cracked to see how much water could seep through
best way to test waterproofness is with koolaid powder, when it gets wet it changes from white to waterever color
nice soldier bracelet. -spc peterson
can the ipod touch 4th generation fit in the pelican case also. (I dont mean with the iphone and ipod touch in the case at the same time.)
I thought the Pelican brochure said not for swimming or submersion
Yeah, I think it held up just fine considering.
Hey dude you got awesome video reviews, don't pay attention to the kids though for dumb comments all I gotta say is keep up the good work %100 like your reviews Thank You!
still the whole point of this product is to protect the items inside? yeah this box breaks but rather the box then the iphone right?
Welcome to my channel! VIDEOS FEATURE: Hot suace reviews, gear reviews , edc vids, knife reviews and DESTRUCTION TESTS!!!
@reyreyfan11 undr normal use it wont open is the point nothing in this video was normal wear, you cvna put it this way there isnt a stronger protective case on the planet specifically made for the iphone...
Poor Pelican case! What did it ever do to you, Jeff?? lol
Yeah watch out for that bounce back from the hatchet! Lol
This gave me flashbacks of your glock test video lol....
lol i wasnt expecting him to gun the car haha
@nqkoisii astraight trade for my old car, same value, best car they had on the lot at the time...I didnt pick it specifically for it being a honda...I had a cadillac with a shit ton of problems and couldn't afford to keep fixing it, so I traded...search cutletrylover car for vids on the caddy...great car if you can afford to own one
Throw a rubberband or a hair tie around that thing and it should probably stay latched longer than without.
you got some serious water pressure
Oh the carnage... Please no more, it hurts!!lol
@cutlerylover nah im just being sarcastic man. Im jokingly referencing to when people make that correction (unnecessarily) in the gun world.
@cutlerylover no i was about 30 seconds in n just the one sentence in the info caught my eye , still a good video tho for sure , that case its ptty sturdy
what ever happened to the Cadillac?
i love your review & to tell you honestly your hilarious too
I enjoyed watching him hit it with an axe and watching the box bounce.
@zcutbait It's a paracord bracelet
what because the honda isn't heavy enough? its meant to be a fuel efficient vehicle, not a tank. honda makes amazing cars , there 90's cars are probably the best ever made.
