I bought a fairly large Pelican case years ago for storing and transporting a Swarovski spotting scope and tripod head. It works great and the toughness is among the reasons I bought it.
@Stizogm - I kept the shot-up case because I liked the way the pellets sparkle- they came in hot from 27 ft and embedded in the lid. A few made it through and rattle around inside, but the computer is fine- in fact I'm typing this reply on it (probably time for a new computer). I used bird shot and cheated a little by taking the choke out which gave me a wider pattern.
Just bought one of these. I am still waiting to get it. It is on backorder. I can't wait to have a nice and secure place for my new rifle. Best part is that the rifle is OD Green and so is the case.
@Kinemacolor 1- there were two in the case and one was in already (look again) 2- okay.... 3- you skipped one? 4- The shotgun is used to test high velocity impacts not supersonic impacts from an anti-tank round.
Just ordered a 1650 to hold a 17" laptop, full size M&P.40, extra mags, external mouse, wiring, terabyte hard drive, benchmade knives, a flashlight, pioneer HDJ-2000 headphones, and a 5DMKII camera.
Absolutely. When surfing in Indonesia I have to swim from the outrigger to the beach with my camp gear because of the reefs. It actually makes a good flotation device. Use dessicant gel packs though, it will keep the humidity out of the case. I've had trouble with digital cameras working in the tropics, even without getting wet. Kevin
Hi! I recommend starting with what you plan to carry in the case. Enter that information into our case calculator to get an idea of what you'll need. To find it, please go to the Pelican website and simply search "case calculator." From there, you can determine the appropriate case. As far as the sedan, I recommend measuring the interior of the trunk as much as possible. Depending on where you purchase the case, you might be able to return or exchange the case should it not meet your needs.
Snorkeling should be OK, diving is pushing it due to the added pressure underwater. You need to check the O-ring seal for any debris, like sand, and keep it lubricated. Also, use a small dry-bag like kayakers use inside the case for insurance.
Hi Rick- The o-ring seal acts like a spring lifting the lid against the latches- just press lightly down on the lid while flipping the latches clear. I know it's an extra step, but that's a watertight case. Kevin
the issue you will have in finding a case for this type of guitar will be its width, you should take the measurements of your guitar and enquire with the manufacturers to see if there is one that will fit. check out both pelican and HPRC, but there is also SKB a manufacturer of guitar cases but they are not waterproof and i dont think they have the same resistance to impact.
I do agree about the light stand case issue. You've custom tailered for shooting guns so now do it for shooting cameras - but for the lighting which is the most sensitive and mostly stored in durable containers and transported item in our world. So, two strobes around 12x8x8 the reflectors, two umbrellas - oh 30-40 inch, power cables, pocket wizards, and two stands. I mean I've got a cheapo case right now that measures about 12x12x40 - but its a semi soft case.
Both our Pelican cases and Pelican Storm cases are equally durable for protecting your gear. However, our Storm cases feature slightly different latches than our Pelican cases. The Storm cases feature a push and pull type latch, as opposed to our patented Double-Throw latches seen on our Pelican cases. This is helpful for those who may be lacking strength and dexterity in their hands. Best, Pelican Products
Considering the price and how good your products are, your adverts are shocking. If you need someone in the UK to make some good videos, give me a shout and send me some peli cases.
90% of customers from all companies are repeat customers. All they had to do was impress us once. Then you just keep buying them. No real need to advertise anymore for Pelican cases. Also if you are in the UK shouldn't this be Peli Products?
The 1490 would be a better fit for a 15" laptop and the 1490CC1 has a lid organizers and an adjustable liner for your labtop. The 1500 has more room in it, but only comes with padded dividers or pic n pluck foam.
Hi Sitzogm-I kept the case because it has a lot of bling from the sparkly shot pellets in the lid. we used bird shot and took the choke out so the pattern was wider than normal. we shot from a distance of 27'. The pellets embedded in the front of the case and a few were rattling around inside the case, but the computer was fine. I only did this once, and (legal disclaimer to follow) you should never try this at home! Kevin
I have a handgun (Glock 17) i would like to put into one of these and also a Savage Arms rifle that measures 40 inches. do you sell cases large enough to protect these?
I have a question: How do I get the pattern of the object(s) I'm going to store in the case in the case's foam? Do I have to cut that pattern in myself with a razor blade or something?
Wow!! I knew my pelican could stand up to a lot, but when you actually see it put to the test it really puts things into perspective!! Amazing tests guys!!
How does the foam come in the cases? Is it like pre-cut or what? Im kind of confused, because I want case that can hold 4 handguns. Is the 1520 a good case?
What's better, a Pelican case or a Pelican Storm case? I know they're both made by Pelican now, but what's the difference between the two (other than the Pelican has stainless steel around the hasp?) Also, why don't you put stainless steel on the hasp of the Storm & Hardigg?
Im looking into buying a Pelican case, what case do you recommend for carrying a lot of video gear and being able to bring it around on shoots. Something larger than the 1510 but not too big that it wont fit into a trunk of a sedan?
If you are protecting something heavy you will need to use a higher density foam to protect the item from hitting the inside wall of the case. There is a fragility rating that our packaging engineers use to plan the correct interior foam. If the shell of the case did crack we will give you a new one because Pelican Cases and Pelican Storm cases have a lifetime guarantee. Kevin
do you have a link for that? that would be a killer sale point for anyone if the case survived and that the contents inside didn't get ejected out at the time of landing.
I wanted to know, can these boxes be used to store valuables? A friend of mine was looking for something to hold a priceless possession in, something fire proof. I suggested a Pelican.
i would suggest the 1720, but depending on how many scopes and magazines you want to hold you might have to go up to the 1750. in my 1750 i store my Barrett M107 with a 20" barrel with 3 magazines.
Look for the Smash Lab episode on Discovery Channel- they load our case in a boat and throw it out of a plane at 100 mph with an accelerometer- it recorded 57 Gs on impact! (Case was fine, of course) Kevin Murphy- Pelican Marketing Director
There's a nice review of our i1015 Micro Case from @cutlerylover. In it he conducts a few destruction tests, one being a "road" test. Do a search for "Pelican i1015 Hard Case Destruction Test" and you'll find it.
I have a smaller (1200) case I use for my 2way radio gear and love it. Next laptop I get, I am getting a Pelican case for it! Can't beat them! I bought mine at Markertek.
Hi there. I believe we've been in contact on Facebook and are in the process of replacing your case. That said, the specs of the demonstration here are a little different from what you're describing! Take it easy on your new case. ;)
As far as I can recall, the lifetime warranty does not cover attack from bears, attack from sharks, or attack from children under 6 years of age. Everything else is good to go!
Check out our case calculator for an accurate estimate. Just go to Pelican(dot)com and search "case calculator" and follow the directions there. And of course, please let us know if you have any further questions!
did you shoot it with bird shot?? a slug or 00 buck would of penetrated it for sure.. im not knocking you guys as i believe in your products and use them daily but really the last demonstration is a bit misleading..
Pelican cases are the best I only have one sugestion and that is for the i1015 iphone case i have done a few test ant takes it bou because of the way the latch works if its hit hard enough it copresses enough so that the lach unlaches so if you could inprove on that design i will gratly appresiat it sugestion an over latch or same latxh with some better locking system
dont think the shotgun test was real. no plastic that thats thin enough to make a case out of will stand up to a blast from a 12ga. at that distance, no matter how good it is.
Ha, I am getting ready to order a pelican case for my 120 camera today, cool that I found this. I buy all but the shotgun though. Target load won't do much damage anyhow, drop a 3" .00 in that thing and I bet it knocks some holes in it.
I bought a vintage 1963 Neumann U67 microphone, power supply and cable and it came with a 1450 Pelican case. As much as i would love to throw this off a roof or drown it i couldn't lol
Hello. We recommend taking the dimensions of your laptop and measuring its dimensions and enter those in our case calculator (found by searching 'case calculator' on Pelican[dot]com). We also offer great laptop backpacks, which you can see on PelicanProGear[dot]com. Please let us know if you have any additional questions!
Hell, I went toobing down the Gruene river in New Braunsfel,TX last weekend and tied off my 1120 pelican case to my tube. In it i had my wallet, cellphone, keys, Walther ppks, knife and flashlight. I traveled about 3 miles the case hit rocks and was submerged majority of the trip. when i was done and opened the case not a drop of water had gotten in. I strongly recomend them. They are worth the price.
Lol please boot up please boot up

Back when cell phones and iPods were separate devices

Ok ok... but now we can leave our pelican in a cybertruck so it's all good
i have 5 cases am i love them all.....offshore use and still holding up strong . and I'm rough on all my gear
Just bought one of these. I am still waiting to get it. It is on backorder. I can't wait to have a nice and secure place for my new rifle. Best part is that the rifle is OD Green and so is the case.

No problem! Both systems should sufficiently protect a laptop in cases of shock, falls, and rough travel. What case are you considering?
Hi Sitzogm-I kept the case because it has a lot of bling from the sparkly shot pellets in the lid. we used bird shot and took the choke out so the pattern was wider than normal. we shot from a distance of 27'. Our 1750 Long Case has interior dimensions of 50.50" x 13.50" x 5.25" (128.2 x 34.3 x 13.3 cm), which should be perfect for your Savage Arms rifle.
Wow!! I knew my pelican could stand up to a lot, but when you actually see it put to the test it really puts things into perspective!! Amazing tests guys!!

I love it! Boss grabs the case with his valuables instead of helping his employee out of the water!
@@nine-nine no worries,he is Pelican employee
Question
how tough is the handle, if i rig it to a chain say, 16mm and abloy 362, will it be able to destroy the handle of 1560 case?
i use the pelican 1750 for my barrett, i highly recommend it.

dang where can i get a van like that cause that thing sounds like a beast
I have a Dell N5110 Laptop and I need to protect it at school, for carrying around and for travel, what case would you recommend for me?

how do you get the exact shape of what you want it to be? like a glock or desert eagle, or ar 15?
do you have a link for that? that would be a killer sale point for anyone if the case survived and that the contents inside didn't get ejected out at the time of landing.

in my 1750 i store my Barrett M107 with a 20" barrel with 3 magazines.
what would be good for a 16" ar 15 and evelntually scopes and mags and maybe a pistol?
@Kinemacolor shotguns can penetrate through walls and doors...and if you saw his comment, a few pellets did penetrate the plastic.
what shotgun load did they use?
ok i im looking for a simple case to hold a two way radio. i would like to get the pick and pull foam so i can make my own design.
I have one more question, would the pick and pluck foam or the molded plush shock absorbing liner protect it better from falls and shock?
No problem. Let us know if there's anything else we can help with.
what happens if you take an axe and slash it and it brake will the company really replace it
I think it was a 1500 case, but it could be a 1450. Regardless, all pelican cases are watertight with an O-ring seal.
Kevin
Look for the Smash Lab episode on Discovery Channel- they load our case in a boat and throw it out of a plane at 100 mph with an accelerometer- it recorded 57 Gs on impact! (Case was fine, of course) Kevin Murphy- Pelican Marketing Director
Awesome! Please let us know if you have any questions about your new case!
what type of guitar do you have?
How deep does it go in the water
why dont they use it to make a body armour?
There's a nice review of our i1015 Micro Case from @cutlerylover. In it he conducts a few destruction tests, one being a "road" test. Do a search for "Pelican i1015 Hard Case Destruction Test" and you'll find it.
Just ordered the 1514 Case from B&H I have wanted a case that I can trust my expensive gear in... Pelican was the only choice I considered.
I tried a consumer grade handheld swingline staple gun into one and it punchered right through:(
I have a smaller (1200) case I use for my 2way radio gear and love it. Next laptop I get, I am getting a Pelican case for it! Can't beat them! I bought mine at Markertek.
But does it blend?
What did you guys shoot that last case with? Bean bag?
ya i bought a plano case awhile ago and tried to cut it out myself, everyone sais i did good but it really sucks, il probably go with pluck and pick
That's crap! I shot my pelican case with my 12 gauge Mossberg loaded with 1 - 00 buckshot and 3 of the pellets went right through it. Have it on video
Where?
They probably used bird shot
I just order a 1300, can't wait till it arrive
i got mine today. very impressed with build quality. full confidence in the safety of my camera gear :)
Hi there. I believe we've been in contact on Facebook and are in the process of replacing your case. That said, the specs of the demonstration here are a little different from what you're describing! Take it easy on your new case. ;)
The throwing test was just awesome
@Slazzy98 yeah all of there cases come with a pick n pluck foam

i would suggest a HPRC 2580 advanced.
I would get one of these cases but unfortunately I can't come up with a reason I need one other than "it's really cool".
did you shoot it with bird shot?? a slug or 00 buck would of penetrated it for sure.. im not knocking you guys as i believe in your products and use them daily but really the last demonstration is a bit misleading..

I have a Flamenco guitar, and is my favor one!
dont think the shotgun test was real. no plastic that thats thin enough to make a case out of will stand up to a blast from a 12ga. at that distance, no matter how good it is.
I want one of these. I have no idea what I would put in it, but I want one anyway.
That would make the best case commercial ever!
thats a sweet van bro.
can ull please make one for my guitars!
If you need something fireproof, get a fire safe. A pelican case, being made from a type of plastic, would simply melt in a fire.
And of course, if you ever have any questions about your new case, please let us know that as well!
Ha, I am getting ready to order a pelican case for my 120 camera today, cool that I found this.

Pretty tough case!
this video is hilarious. long live pelican
Damn... tougher than ToughBook...

lol... but a plain wood pallet isn't waterproof, and don't look as cool!
lol "i used an anchor", can't wait to get my 1490 deluxe laptop case
hi Mike- as you can see, this is a frequent request. I'll take a run at the engineers with it! thanks, Kevin
Great video. You need some nice calming UT music in the background to make it nicer to watch. :D
the 1095 and 1095cc

why i have 300 dolars on month working 190h on month :(
you sold me on it btw, the next time i buy another pistol or a rifle, i will pick one up thnks
well at this point, the problem is not wether get one or not..
