    Thank You for the part about it not cycling off. I have mine in my ice shack and it is mounted on the wall out about 2 inches. I am going to put some insulation on the inside of the wall and see if this works.

    We bought a house in May and we have 2 of these the big one in the living room and a smaller one in the bed room. Living room is working great. But the one in the bed is turning on but goes out immediately after starting....I just don't know what to do...

      Having the same issue. Hit the clicker and the pilot comes on, but as soon as we turn the dial to ignite the main flame...nothing!
      How did you fix it?

    We have the same issue its a pain in the ass to start.And when it shuts off it will be an hour atleast till we can get it running again!

      The issue you may be having is with the ODS. If the oxygen level gets too low it will shut off.
      First, high altitude has less oxygen already so that is a factor. Second, using it inside, since there is no vent pulling fresh air in to burn, crack a window. We keep one window and one roof vent cracked. This helps to pull in fresh air, giving the unit the oxygen it needs. We are at about 5,500 feet and most of these are rated for 4,000 and under.

    I just bought one to replace an older Procom one(they look just alike). It will not stay lit. I’m returning it tomorrow and going with a different brand. The flame never made it to the flame sensor right in front of it. Flame is so small, and you can hear it click when the flame goes out. A plumber was in the store the same time I was and said they are notorious for the regulator to be bad from the factory.

    • @BearFamilyHomesteading
      @BearFamilyHomesteading  3 роки тому

      Yes, we ended up returning that one. Our larger one has been working for 2 winters with no issues and our smaller one made us through the winter. I will not buy from them again. It is now February and we are still waiting on the replacement part.

    When I first hooked up my DynaGlo, it wouldn't ignite. I figured I needed to bleed the line of air. After about two minutes of holding the button down in the pilot position, the pilot slowly began to light. So, if at first you have this problem, be patient. The air will eventually leave the lines through the pilot orifice and propane will eventually make it's way and ignite. Now the problem I'm having is a pilot flame with a tail and cycling on and off; burner flame won't stay on, no matter how high I have it set. Correct me if I'm wrong but my guess is my pressure regulator isn't set to between 11 and 14 W.C. I've made adjustments to the regulator but can't achieve a pilot without a "tail" like the pictures in the manual show. I'd like to resolve this without having to call the propane company to come out for something I'm sure is very minor. Anyone else have this problem and solve it?

      Thank you for tsaying be patient.. The pilot was not lighting on brand new heater.. Turns out I had to hold down know for over 2 minutes to bleed all of the air in the new piping. After seeing your comment I tried again and it lit ands works perfectly

      I held the pilot down for 3 minutes without any success...My new gas line is about 35 feet, I would have thought it would be bled by now. Not sure what to do, pilot won't light.

    • @DoItToProveIt
      @DoItToProveIt Рік тому

      @@erico4945 I’ve had a little trouble that I attribute to temperature fluctuations outside which reduces the pressure in the supply tank. I’ve done a couple of things to rectify my problem which is the pilot blowing out intermittently. I adjusted my pressure regulator and use an inside valve on my supply line to get my pilot to the right size. The problem has been that too much pressure has caused the pilot flame to dance on the tip of the thermocouple and then go out. By adjusting the interior valve, I can reduce the pressure to keep the flame from blowing out. To little pressure and it will also go out. I’ve also cleaned up the carbon that accumulated on it. It’s a rather crude method but has worked for me. I definitely wouldn’t want to rely on my heater if I was worried about things freezing and I had to be away for a few days. This year I’m going to replace the outside regulator and get someone to adjust the water column on the tank regulator. Hopefully, that’ll do the trick.

    • @DoItToProveIt
      @DoItToProveIt Рік тому

      @@erico4945 35’ is pretty long. Consider the minute amount of gas that is actually being bled out. A pilot requires very little gas.

    Just got one today 20 btu space is approx 300 sq ft in a insulated yet “drafty” shed it ran for an hour and then boom cycled off pilot and everything out I had it between 1-2 on the dial. Did it reach oxygen shut off? It’s brand new also I’m in Colorado store about 5280 for altitude tips appreciated!

    Does your heater pop and crack when it’s heating up and cooling down? I have had several of these and this brand new one makes a lot of noise. Thinking about returning it and trying a different brand. Have a Dyna Glo inferred now 30000btu.

    How much propane does it use? How fast do you run through a tank?

    • @BearFamilyHomesteading
      @BearFamilyHomesteading  3 роки тому +1

      In the coldest part of winter this year we went through a 100 lb (23 gl) tank about every 2 weeks. We were home and running it a lot. Of course, we have almost no insulation so that made it worse. Now that it is February and getting a little nicer, we have been 2 weeks on our current tank and still have at least a week left, if not more.

      Hi there. Thanks for watching. Unfortunately, propane causes condensation if it is not vented. Having a fan to circulate the air helps. An exhaust fan would help even more.

    Mine is doing the same thing. The pilot lights fine, stays on, but as soon as i turn up the heat, around 20 seconds later it kicks off. Think i have the same problem?

    • @BearFamilyHomesteading
      @BearFamilyHomesteading  3 роки тому

      It is possible. Sadly the part that we thought it was is back ordered. We took one off another heater and it worked for a few days then started doing the same thing so it could be the valve or regulator. We actually returned ours the other day because we can’t go without heat all winter waiting on parts.

    How does it power? Does it use propane? Is it electric ? If so, what’s the wattage?

    • @BearFamilyHomesteading
      @BearFamilyHomesteading  3 роки тому

      Thank you for watching. This model is propane. Natural gas is also an option. There is now power, which is a requirement for us since we are off grid and want to be sure our heat is not dependent on power.
      There is an optional 120 volt fan but I am not sure of the wattage on that.
