I believe that GSP was the one who professionalized the sport of MMA. He raised the bar so high that all other athletes had to become full-time fighters.
And implemented several new training methods of his own, hunger to train with the best athletes in world, and his excellent strategies. He was the first complete MMA fighter, and imo the greatest to ever do it
When it comes to fighting legends, Chael has one of the best resumes out there: Anderson, Shogun, Wanderlei, Jon Jones, Fedor, Machida, Rampage... For him to name GSP as the greatest, has to carry some serious weight.

I lived in Springville just a few miles from Provo. I was on the run from Probation in Minnesota and numerous charges as a young 18 yr old man. I got my first car in Provo, got my license in Salt Lake City, got my GED at Brigham Young University and started setting my life up. Utah was the most beautiful state I’ve ever seen. I did get caught and arrested one Christmas when I went to Minnesota to visit my Mom and walked away a free man because the court had lost my entire file.
Hey, Chael. Randy is my favorite fighter of all time. Can you do a piece about the top things you learned from him? I think Randy doesn’t get enough love and should be in the Heavyweight GOAT discussion
Gsp did prove he was best of the best so many killers at 170 division at that time and gsp dominated all of them comes to show how special gsp is of a fighter then takes off 4 years and also takes the belt at 185 gotta give the man his respects the greatest of all time
Hahaha I stole me my mom's car and took me and my friends to vegas to see that show Dennis Hallman vs Jens. Tito vs The Janitor was the main event. Such a good card for back in the day.
@therapist6328 man...I think he was, but the thing that really sticks out was in round 5 he threw caution to the wind and started doing like WWF double leg drop kicks and shit trying to hail Mary Jens.
GSP is top 3 of all time for sure, but he was the first one to raise the bar in every realm. He was always much bigger, smarter, faster, and stronger than all his opponents. Before him everyone had specific skills and attributes. After everyone had to be great at everything.
Chael giving his dad 20% winning fight picks, is the definition of elder abuse. (Anyone surprised Hallman lost?). The amount of medical grade stupidity in that household must’ve been legendary.
Because traditional weightlifting doesn’t translate as well to grappling. The strongest man I ever met was a lifelong wrestler from the country who spent his childhood bailing hay and his early 20s doing concrete work. It’s extreme strength in odd positions that mimics grappling way better than squatting benching and deadlifting

Im very curious to learn if chael ever matched up with josh while he was at quest and his experience with him??
Anybody can take a couple years off or more, I can't remember, come back jump in with the champ from the division above the one he'd fought in his whole career and win does sound like a GOAT.
Dennis Hallman getting love is a big throwback. Dudes a legend out here. But could never stay out of his own way and not a good dude at all. What about floyd mayweather jr.?
Matt Huges said it: " I never felt an opponent stronger than until I fought GSP"
