    The entire time he was cranking that vice I was thinking "I can't wait to see how this ends up working out he probably has a trick to keeping it from doing what everybody's thinking will happen because if it just sprayed gold ore everywhere he would have edited it out so as to not look...forest gumpish" and then pow rock spray.

    The neighbor from downstairs must be the guy with iron balls: his neighbor from upstairs is dissolving mercury in Nitric acid at the balcony. Granted, occasionally he hits jackpot: dropped pickers and paydirt dust from upstairs :)

    Can someone help me with some questions?What's the diference between the mineral of gold and the metal gold?Are the same thing in diferent state?you melt the mineral to get the metal?is it the mineral called the "gangue" and it is waste?and you only get the gold that is in solid metalic peaces?thank!sorry for my ignorance but i'm confused and i really want to understand this

      There are different ways to extract gold from sulfide, free mill and telluride ores. It's a long subject but some ways are roasting followed by cyanidation to extract gold from telluride ores, froth flotation, even the use of microorganisms to extract the metal from the sulfur in sulfide ore. free mill gold ore can be crushed and panned.

    You have to use boiling sulfuric acid and water half and half and a beaker, it dissolves all base metals from iron to zinc and aluminum, and then you have to wash it all and put it in a furnace with Lye or Caustic soda 3/4 material and 1/4 lye, and you'll have a button of precious metals left in the crucible. Most furnaces needed range $300-400

    With the variety of tools you use in your vids I'm surprised you don't have a contact with a small road-roller than could crush ore for you in seconds. Wouldn't a garden lawn-roller work? Just need something flat and tough to crush it on that keeps fragments from getting away. Crushing it in a vice might work better if you put it in a tough cloth bag first - you could turn it inside out to recover smaller fragments and dust.
    Have you ever tried recovering gold from sea water? There have been all sorts of claims made about its content. Best estimate I could get is that recovering one ounce of gold would require processing 30 million pounds of sea water. Not too bad if you can automate it and the energy and chemicals used are cheaper than rain - leave it running on a quiet bit of coast and check it every 5 years or so.

    Couple suggestions:
    Use a hammer to crush it.
    Crush it finer
    Build a furnace (not that hard)
    Use some fire assay flux
    If there's gold to be found that'll do it
    And get some better PPE. I know there's rarely a drive to use it, but it really does save your bacon long term.

    • @mountaetnablacksmithing1693
      @mountaetnablacksmithing1693 5 років тому

      PS: for those who are upset there's no gold, a couple points to consider, firstly that was not anywhere near a proper way to process hard rock minerals. Secondly, just as with the miners themselves, there's never a guarantee of anything. 80% of your dig might be useless, and only 10% or less is actually valuable.

    • @Klesh
      @Klesh  5 років тому +1

      Thanks for the comment. If you watch the video linked in the description, it shows the process and all relevant safety info that I excluded from this production. Thanks for watching!

    • @Klesh
      @Klesh  5 років тому +2

      You say this was not anywhere near a proper way to process hard rock minerals. I disagree, unless you do it a completely different way and you don't understand what I am doing. I work with the tools I have, and the chemical extraction (shown in detail if the linked video) is correct.

    • @mountaetnablacksmithing1693
      @mountaetnablacksmithing1693 5 років тому

      KleshGuitars well I'm not saying what you're doing is wrong, but when dealing with hard rock(ore) the process, even industrially goes something along the lines of dig the rock, crush it to a fine powder, add flux, melt, then you should have your end product. Then for a better chemical process, like industry and myself uses in copper mining, is soak the ore in acid to dissolve and absorb the metals, then refine the chemical via electrolysis. Just tips for in case you keep up the ore game.

    One thing you need to find out is this free mill gold or sulfides. Because you need to process each it own way. What you did works for free mill gold. On the website I could not find any real type of ore it was. Also say if there is 2 troy ounces per ton, in the ore then the rest is barren of gold. Unless pulling super high grade stuff, chances in that 400th of a ton is very small, a 15th of a gram or 0.15g would be a correct number at the high end of recovery. I can not say if this was bad or good, but an experience.

      I saw sulfides on almost every piece of ore. Sulfides are not like gold at all. The molecular structures are very different and to yield gold from these pieces, Mercury will not work. I recommend that you read up on gold sulfides and you will se what I mean.

    Ores of metals don't usually have the pure element within them. Rarely you'll find actual pieces of the metal. Often the ore is a different 'version' of the metal itself. Like commonly copper ore is copper oxide so needs to be processed according to the compound. So it's possible you may have a form of gold oxide or other, in which case you'll need to process it differently. This is just what I know and so may account to what you have but I hope I was of some help. Good luck!

    • @calvinf9218

      Klondike BOI gold is highly nonreactive. It shouldn't oxidize or react with anything in nature, as most things in nature are not highly concentrated enough to react with gold.

    Decent (not great, but decent) ore will produce 1-2 grams per ton. You bought a pound of dirt, that's 0.0005-0.0010 grams of gold. That's probably about what you got.
