Over the last week I've been installing my QP 9" to replace my screaming 10bolt and doing my auto TH350 swap to manual with the same magnum as you as well as the Monster twin disc. My hangup has just been getting the clutch hydraulics and rear brakes setup but your videos have been a great insight and well explained. I'm definitely going to be watch out if I run into the same thing as I have the same slip joint from Tick where i got my magnum. Hopefully mine is all together this weekend
Thanks! That’s exactly why I do these! I ran Tick master and got the speed bleeder to simplify the process. The slip joint will go in but it may hit the bearing under compression. I just measured to original yoke. Good luck with the car and keep me posted.
I guess I missed the part in your video where you hooked the torque arm back up. That’s why the angle looked all funky when you re installed the drive shaft. I’m sure you installed the torque arm back before you took it for a rip though !
@@FireballMullet love your channel. I’m pretty much doing the same thing but with a 86 firebird and a Lt1 engine out of a 95 trans am. Did the bmr extreme anti roll bar, Spohn adjustable crossmember mount torque arms. Founders on car adjustable lower control arms and Panhard bar. That’s why I noticed the rear pinion angle looked weird cuz I remember how much it moved around when I was trying to install my adjustable torque arm. It’s nice to see everyone out here wrenching and learning as we go and helping each other out !! Love the positive energy that’s what it’s all about sir !!
Close ratio Vs wide ratio? My 4th Gen is laying down 470 wheel with a 3.55 rears. I’m leaning towards the wide ratio just for the more aggressive 1-3 gears.
great video. Given how far you are with your mods on this car, have you ever thought of going with a full 4-link setup and ditching the torque arm? Thanks. Love the channel and your work
It was Speed Engineering true duals for 4th gen custom fitted to Speed Engineering long tube headers. I have another couple videos on that, but I did change it out.
I'm doing a t56 swap into my third gen and am having problems with the throwout bearing. I tried using a t56 tb but I think it's interferring with the pressure plate and the clutch fork won't move with it on. Tried to use a t5 tb and there's too much play in the tb, it sits but moves around everywhere. Is there a specific part number I need to use?
No it just needs to be the 4th gen pilot bearing with needle bearings. Make sure you use an alignment tool, install bellhousing first then transmission. Also measure the slave for correct spacing
@@FireballMullet The 4th gen pilot bearing fits in the gen 1 sb? Also I do have a 2-peice rear main seal. I didn't want to spend $400+ on the special flywheel so I bought one with the same teeth count and diameter. Hawks Motorsports told me I do need to buy the special flywheel cause it will allow me to use the lt1 clutch and pressure plate which works perfectly with the t56 tb and cluthc fork. Is that true?
@@sodak3427 no problem, you have to have those exhaust hoops or exhaust will be a problem with clearance. It’s also beefy and has extra mounting holes. I did have to slot the holes a little though.

@@sodak3427 that’s exactly what I did, just research while you get parts. Find someone with a similar build and do what they did. Good luck man! I’m going to do more in depth swap videos soon also
whats up man did you cut or shaved the slip yoke? I am swapping the same transmission in my truck and from what other people say is that both magnum and magnum f are the same slip yokes. then i ran into one online that has a bore inside and states that is necessary when running the magnum f thanks.
I see that you used wheel bearing grease on your polyurethane bushing on the transmission for the torque arm, that's a no no because it will break down the polyurethane, you have to use super lube white PTFE or a similar alternative
Thanks for the tip! I’ll clean that off when I get the tubular adjustable torque arm. The good news is it’s been like that for 3 1/2 years and luckily still tight and nice.
I been following your channel/build for some time now. Always great instructions and clear video! I have a 87, about to buy a Magnum F soon, my QP 9” is in, I have a LQ9 I picked up cheap but now leaning towards a Ly6 or LS3, I seen a link for a GM hot cammed Ls3 for like 8k also as an option… Any advice on an engine (like refreshing a junkyard Ly6 or Ls3 and installing a cam or paying up $8k for a GM cammed LS3?). Thanks for the video and car!
It depends , in my case I wanted all new so it would be pretty dependable for a while. By the time I did all new parts I could have bought the GM one. Having said that, you can do a little more cam than that one (the 525 one). In my case I didn’t have 8k at once so buying piece by prices I er a year was like installment plan lol. If you can find a low mile LS3 or Ly6 do that and send it. Hope that gives you some perspective. Thanks for supporting the channel bud!
@@FireballMullet That’s the one 525 hot cam.. I also noticed they have a LQ9 short block with LS3 heads for $4636 but comes with an LQ9 pan and not exactly a big enough cam again. Too many choices 🙂. Thanks for the input!
