This really is nostalgic. It makes me think back to when I played this on the DS lite (PMD Blue) as a Squirtle with a Charmander for a partner. It’s like reliving a part of my early teens all over again. I assume this is on the Switch, so this might be all I need to go out and buy one haha

This whole video gave me chills, PMD: Explorers of Darkness was the first Mystery Dungeon I'd played. I was afraid Pokemon would stop with the Mystery Dungeon games, but seeing the promo vid and you playing the demo makes me so happy Pokemon hasn't forgotten or given up on it. I hope one day I can get a Switch and buy this game, I want to relive the happy memories and breaking down crying at the end when your character has to leave.
God, I'm so happy this classic is getting a remake! I played this game for at least 500 hours over my childhood and I remember what personality equates to what pokemon! Remembering the story and where it leads is really giving me the feels... I do wish I could play the whole remake now but we'll have to wait a few months.
"Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border, right? Walked right into that Beeheeyem ambush, same as us, and that Nuzleaf over there...." Also, in Super Mystery Dungeon your main characters also had their team scarfs visible on their in-game models.

Back when I was 8, I bought explorers of the sky, I was really bad at understanding the controls so I never got past drowsee and just never played it again. But recently I suddenly wanted to play it again and I was hooked to the game and its plot and I had an emotional breakdown at the ending and I think I can call it one of my favorite games

So Cyndaquil is my favorite starter because when I first played this game back in middle school, that's the Pokemon I got (also Quilava is just plain adorable). So anyway, I knew as soon as it said that you're the timid type that it was gonna be Cyndaquil. Edit: also my partner back then was a Mudkip. Dang RT, you're just a copying middle school me, aren't you?

One of my favourite mystery dungeon moments of all time is when in gates to infinity you get the chance to refuse something and when you click it you character thinks "I wonder how the others would react if I say 'no' might be funny, actually I should probably just say yes" I wish I could remember it better but still it was a pretty funny moment XD
...ok, this game was also my childhood, and now I need to get this remaster, because woah...so many memories...also, can you do a longer playthrough of this, because I really want to see more... Great video as always, and I can’t wait to see more from you!
You're finally awake you where trying to cross the border right walked right into that imperial ambush just like the rest of us and that tief over there
Holy shit. When I was real young, I played nothing but Red Rescue Team. Absolutely loved that game to death. Still one of my all time favourite games. Hearing that theme when answering the questions actually sent a shiver down my spine. I wish I could go back to those times when everything was easier and deciding whether or not to use that last Oran berry or not was the toughest part of my day. I’ll definitely be playing it again now when I have free time next
I loved these games when I was younger, I was totally head over heels with exploring caves, forests mountains ect Now I'm 20, in the Irish Scouts climbing mountains for real and messing around, exploring real places and people, funny how influenced I was by these games.
I played pmd: gates to infinity, it has been lost in my room, though. mystery dungeon and the pokemon ranger series was my absolute childhood. the music just brings tears to my eyes.
Explorers of Time was one of the first DS games I ever played when I was a kid and to this day it's the only game that has ever made me cry. I love the Mystery Dungeon series so much, I hope they keep it going.
Lots of kids in Germany do (or atleast did during my childhood) it too :) I could probably still build a really good pitfall trap with all my training from the childhood :P
@@TheWizardMus Ayy, I tried to do that as a kid too! Helped my neighbor dig out his sandbox and we eventually got to some wiring before his mom made us fill it back in.
That result of his answers was so utterly wrong. "Do you feel lonesome when you are alone? [Yes.]" He must turn around in the middle of the night as if he truly isn't alone! "You like someone but there's no opportunity to get close, what do you do? [ *Bravely* declare love.]" He must be too scared to go to school to get something he forgot!!! "Can you enter a haunted house? [With someone I like.]" He MuSt Be ScArEd To TaKe A sHiT aT nIgHt
He said yes to being lonesome, not no. With his answers I can understand the results, lonesome when alone, runs from alien invasion, willing to enter a haunted house only with someone he likes, etc. The only one that doesn't fit is bravely declaring his love.
Pretty sure the lonesome one has nothing to do with the walking at night stuff. One's about companionship the other is about paranoia/fear. Really you can just boil it down to he said stuff like bravely confess love but he decided to run from aliens and needed help for haunted houses so it overshadowed that.
It was my childhood and yes it was delightful, especially with all the times I softlocked myself and restarted the story so that next time I could be better prepared and not in a situation where I’m praying for a good dungeon roll. The improvements to my planning and resource allocation the originals have caused in my life are a blessing and the sheer joy I got out of playing these games was enough to make the points I got softlocked actually enjoyable to analyze.
It is a delightful game. I fucking loved the hell out of this game as a kid and still hold an obsession with a certain pokemon thanks to it, it was SO GOOD. Cried like a fucking baby too. But hey, even if it wasn't your childhood, know what the best part of it coming back is? that it'll be the childhood of this next generation, and thousands of children will get to cry and feel loss and love as they play through this delightfully painful (and funny and silly) game. Fuck, with the little stuff they seem to have added and modified I'm hella tempted myself to buy a switch just so I can play it and relive the beauty of this game in full HD

It would have been great to see the undeniably good time he had with the rest of it. Maybe he'll want to go back one day for a streamed play through. Can only hope.
I really want to see that cutscene with Grovyle and Celebi in HD. And so many other things. Honestly those games had such wonderful storytelling. I can still remember the illustrations of the characters portraying their emotions and getting truly invested in the characters.

Artsy Ryder that was my first one too!
God, I'm so happy this classic is getting a remake! I played this game for at least 500 hours over my childhood and I remember what personality equates to what pokemon! Remembering the story and where it leads is really giving me the feels... I do wish I could play the whole remake now but we'll have to wait a few months.
Okay, what's lonely?
Today's Pokémon Direct:
Sword and Shield expansion: i sleep
Rescue Team DX: *real shit?*
[Alex Zamora]
"Hey, you. You're finally awake. You were trying to cross the border,
right? Walked right into that Beeheeyem ambush, same as us, and that
Nuzleaf over there...."
Also, in Super Mystery Dungeon your main characters also had their team scarfs visible on their in-game models.
We both got cyndaquil first that’s adorable

fury swipes for days!
I got psyduck and I can't bear the thought of just wandering around as a duck with migraines
@@thotterypottery well at least your life was so much pain that if you go to hell then there's no way that it could be any worse, like I'm pretty sure even the devil himself is scared of getting a migraine.
I got skitty when i played it on my nintendo ds
I will take whatever the game gives me unless it's one of these three: Psyduck, Skitty and Meowth. If I get them I will take the quiz again. Other than that everything is fair game
If there was ever a game where you did a full playthrough I think we'd all love to see you do this one.
And then he didn't
@@valiang8867well, this comment thankfully didn't age well... (sorta)
RT normally: Time to mess around and ruin some stuff
RT fir mystery dungeon: Were messing around with childhood
I swear the universe is out for my emotions at this point
Imagine if they made Explorers DX
Brennan Ruiz then my point would be proven further
@@brennanruiz1803 I would have a fucking heart attack
The genuine emotion and reaction done with this just really gets to me
The people demand that we stream more of this when the blessed day comes.
Ahh, it's the same quiz, the same music, the same feelings...
Just watching the demo like this, I'm alright getting emotional. 😭💕
I'm so glad that this is the one game you actually take seriously and play not just for the sake of memes.
Definitely a man of good taste!
"we don't meme with the names so much in mystery dungeon"
I picked Psyduck as my partner and named him Duck Dimma (Doug Dimmadome) uHm-
Owner of the dimmsdale dimmadome
@@flavio6897 that's right haha
I wish they would remake PMD Time, Darkness, and Sky. The stories hurt my heart. The post-game is just as long as the main game.
Explorers of Darkness is still my second favourite game of all time. I preordered the shit outta this
Same
Nah man, I'm an explorers of sky man myself
@@utterclown1580 the best one.
@@utterclown1580 It is just an expanded version of time and darkness, so not much a difference aside from the bonus chapters.
What's your first? Is it Super Paper Mario? (judging by your name lol)
I'm gonna be honest, when I heard the home base music, I cried a little.
Mystery dungeon questions really out here Mass judgement
"Scarves, but ingame we've never heard something like that."
RT fyi the scarves were actually central to the plot in Super Mystery Dungeon.
But we’re they visible on the sprites?? Cuz that’s what he was specifically referring to
@@MerkhVision Yes, they were.
Spitting facts
And they had full-blown patterns on them too
So Cyndaquil is my favorite starter because when I first played this game back in middle school, that's the Pokemon I got (also Quilava is just plain adorable). So anyway, I knew as soon as it said that you're the timid type that it was gonna be Cyndaquil.
Edit: also my partner back then was a Mudkip. Dang RT, you're just a copying middle school me, aren't you?
When I played it when I was six and still with all the other games nowdas I got charmander so since then I love it to hell
negspirito “Quilava is just plain adorable” lmao shake that booty
this is prolly my most played game of all time, this game was also a key part in my child hood and will forever hold a place in my heart, loved watching you play the demo! cant play it myself cuz i dont have money for a switch but i did install the old game on my pc to play in my free time :P
My favourite mystery dungeon moment is when i got fucking erased.
...ok, this game was also my childhood, and now I need to get this remaster, because woah...so many memories...also, can you do a longer playthrough of this, because I really want to see more...
Great video as always, and I can’t wait to see more from you!
You're finally awake you where trying to cross the border right walked right into that imperial ambush just like the rest of us and that tief over there
IceCak3 - Nooooooo!
Mandatory skyrim references, and without punctuation too
I loved these games when I was younger, I was totally head over heels with exploring caves, forests mountains ect
Now I'm 20, in the Irish Scouts climbing mountains for real and messing around, exploring real places and people, funny how influenced I was by these games.
“This is where real men cry.”
That sums up this series perfectly
when tiny woods started playing, nostalgia hit me like a truck
I played pmd: gates to infinity, it has been lost in my room, though. mystery dungeon and the pokemon ranger series was my absolute childhood. the music just brings tears to my eyes.
The Pokémon Ranger games were pretty great. I wish there'd been more, but with Guardian Signs, I can also get why it ended.
@@TheHutchy01 yeah, but with how pokemons going with the older game remakes
we might get a chance
@@stiickycake I'm not sure Ranger would work as well on a single screen without a radical redesign even though the top screen was mostly redundant.
Explorers of Time was one of the first DS games I ever played when I was a kid and to this day it's the only game that has ever made me cry. I love the Mystery Dungeon series so much, I hope they keep it going.
“Have you ever made a Pitfall trap?”
Most People: No
Vietnamese: Yes, *Absolutely*
Who...
Who actually makes pitfall traps as a kid?
That is *concerning*
Undefined Error you telling me you never dug a pit, filled it with punji spikes, and waited in the tunnels for the imperialists to fall in?
@@undefinederror40404 I remember trying to dig a hole to China as a kid
Lots of kids in Germany do (or atleast did during my childhood) it too :) I could probably still build a really good pitfall trap with all my training from the childhood :P
@@TheWizardMus Ayy, I tried to do that as a kid too! Helped my neighbor dig out his sandbox and we eventually got to some wiring before his mom made us fill it back in.
I loved the old Mystery Dungeon games
I just realised that Kwite is probably bouncing off the walls when he heard this came out.
[With someone I like.]"
He MuSt Be ScArEd To TaKe A sHiT aT nIgHt
He said yes to being lonesome, not no. With his answers I can understand the results, lonesome when alone, runs from alien invasion, willing to enter a haunted house only with someone he likes, etc. The only one that doesn't fit is bravely declaring his love.
@@wolfwhitefire Oh yeah true about the alien one. And also yeah my bad on the lonesome one.
Pretty sure the lonesome one has nothing to do with the walking at night stuff. One's about companionship the other is about paranoia/fear.
Really you can just boil it down to he said stuff like bravely confess love but he decided to run from aliens and needed help for haunted houses so it overshadowed that.
@@IronicHavoc I feel loneliness is usually in the same general category as paranoia/fear in things like this, but who knows.
That music, it's just so nostalgic and calming
Man just remembering where the dream plot lead is making me really sad. What a great part of childhood
I wish this game was my childhood, it seems delightful
It was my childhood and yes it was delightful, especially with all the times I softlocked myself and restarted the story so that next time I could be better prepared and not in a situation where I’m praying for a good dungeon roll. The improvements to my planning and resource allocation the originals have caused in my life are a blessing and the sheer joy I got out of playing these games was enough to make the points I got softlocked actually enjoyable to analyze.
I loved it so much as a kid. It literally made me cry at the end I developed so many relationships with the characters in the game.
It's much better to grow up with games like this than games like cod and gta...
@@katsucandy yeah for me charmander is my favorite pokemon because of these games cause I always get it in the test no matter the game (exept GtI but that game doesent have it and it also sucks so)
Finally!
They made a re-make of one of my favorite games!
Also, it's very nostalgic to hear that the guild base's song wasn't fully modified
When RT started reciting the opening of Skyrim, I laughed
Not because it was funny, but because wHO IN THE HELL THINKS OF SKYRIM WHILE RELIVING THEIR CHILDHOOD
I laughed at that part because he and I were on the same page.
People who's childhood involved Skyrim?
Niko from Undertale is a cursed username.
I want that as a meme.
I want the Pokémon to wake up to Skyrim’s opening scene.

Mystery Dungeon will forever be in my heart, it was a huge piece of my childhood, Mudkip all the way
Edit: my favorite one was Super Mystery Dungeon, when my partner left instead of me it was an emotional twist my heart wasnt ready for
"How 'tuff are ya?"
"I saw the endings to the Pokemon mystery dungeons game and didn't cry once"
"...."
That's called heartless... not tuff...
I just love how the music goes silent, the delivery bird *clunks* the mail in the mailbox, then leaves.
I grew up with the mystery dungeon games. I teared up playing the new remake. I can't wait for the full game
Damn, that music really takes me back. I remember staying up nights playing Blue Rescue on my DS as a kid and subsequently getting yelled at for not going to sleep. I played as a Charmander and my partner was a Trecko if I remember correctly. God, I had some really good times with this game.
I'm not fond of the new art style, but man, so many memories, and the gameplay, hnnnnng.

I legit fist pumped and resisted cheering. My god what does this game do to me X'D

this game was actually my childhood too. I straight cried at the ending the first time i saw it bro. i was that emotionally invested in this game.
*This reminds me*
of the video game _"Catherine"_ wherein it asks you about yourself in the Elevator booth
After watching Dan stream Explorers of Sky this past week, it just makes we wish we could have seen him play through the rest of this game once it had come out. It would have been great to see the undeniably good time he had with the rest of it. Maybe he'll want to go back one day for a streamed play through. Can only hope.
YES TO TIME DARKNESS AND SKY REMAKES!!!
Please
I really want to see that cutscene with Grovyle and Celebi in HD. And so many other things. Honestly those games had such wonderful storytelling. I can still remember the illustrations of the characters portraying their emotions and getting truly invested in the characters.
@@profblack I just want to see what Primal Dialga would look like
Just needs an "Explorers" remake really. Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness were the original games and sky was the third improved verion like Emerald after Ruby and Saphire. No need to remake all three just like this remake a single one.
@@nabi7701 Yeah just an explorers game with Sky content like special episodes, Sky Peak and Destiny Tower
RT seems to know when I’m having a rough time and uploads when I need some healing wholesomeness in my life. Thank you RT.
At first I thought it was weird that I'm always nostalgic about the exact same things as RT. Then I realized that we were born on the same day and now everything makes perfect sense.
THIS GAME MADE ME SOB UGLY CRY AS A CHILD.
I so hope he plays explorers of time in its entirety if that remaster ever comes out
The gasp when he got cyndaquill 🥺
I honestly wouldn’t mind if Daniel played more of this.
HOW DID I NEVER NOTICE THAT RT PLAYED THIS!!! Mystery Dungeon owns a super important place in my soul! I really hope that this actually becomes a stream of some sort soon, at least more than the demo...
