that must be the best design for a table saw depth /height giage I have seen anywhere and no doubt it can be used for many other purpoes too. well done Jack
Jack, I must say you must be in my shop when I'm working out there looking for a height gauge or center of a board. WOW that is a nice piece of work. It will be a new tool in my shop. Thanks loads.
I like this. I will make it with an addition for a depth gauge also. Just put another base on the top. Then add a 1/16 metal rod on the back of the slider, the same height as the top base. Then flip it over and the metal rod can go into a hole for a depth gauge.
Damn Jack, you sure have a bad rheumatism or arthritis going on in your hands. Having the drive and the courage to overcome this ordeal is sure inspiring, like the videos you make. Respect geachte heer (dear sir in Dutch) Houweling, respect... and thank you for sharing your ideas and solutions.
Hi J another good idea , I would need a magnifying glass with my old eyes, but I need to make one of these, I have a problem when using my sled as I have plexiglass over the top protecting me from the fast flung dust , so might need to make 2 and adjust one, G
Hey man I loved your video. I would have also liked to see you cut the notches. You skip over those parts here and your notches look really good. I think its especially interesting given that the notches are quite small. Did you use a band saw or a table saw or something else? Thanks a lot.
Wouldn't it be better to have the line on the inside of the plexiglas? Because this way you have to be on eye-level with the hight of the line (because of the thickness of the plexiglass). Nice video, I"m gonna make me one!
Appreciate seeing the finished product at the start. Neat and simple solution but I cringed at your saw safety. No diving knife, no push stick, no eye protection especially when cutting plexiglass. Please take care of yourself and keep making such excellent videos
Gute Idee.
I don't know if your a new wood worker and if not you are to old not to use a push block, remember young wood workers be watching you and using you for a example.
Jack love your stuff .but you scare the heck out of me . please use a little safety .That way i can watch without turning my head .LOL.thank again for a great idea.
Jack, Height Gauge completed. I uploaded a picture to your Jax Designs Facebook Page. Hope you like it ! Friend request sent as well to your Jack Houweling page !

I love your videos because you sling some hot genius around like it's nothing - and you make it so simple to understand.

I am so impressed with this design & explanatory video. Thank you! I’m going to try make one. Please keep sharing your expertise.
Fun project Jack! I made one of these and it works great! I waxed the areas where the wood slides together and it slides easily. great idea!

Really awesome tool I want to make one as a gauge for ceramic throwing to keep my mugs a consistent height
Hi Jack. Great idea. Thanks for sharing. Definitely going to build one. Simple yet effective.
I agree. It makes a lot of sense. Over all it looks great. Thank you Jack for another great video.
You really make some cool tools. I made some squares with wood and brass screws. Wish i knew how to get a video on here.
Leonard
I plan on making this today. I wish you would have given more of the measurements you used. So I'll make it to my own likings. Thanks for the idea.
Thanks Jack for the great project vidio. I will have to build two. One for a gift, another for myself.

Hello Jack, I love all your videos and I am going to make one tomorrow. Have a great day.
And I happen to have a spare 6" metal ruler... well done on the depth gauge.
Really nice. You did it again, Jack.
Good invention jack, creating new economic tool for wood working every time, all the best
Jack, thanks for another useful and money saving tool creation tip - Bill
Smart design!
Great design! really smart!
Mr. Houweling, GREAT idea. I love it and thank you. Now I am going to make myself one. Have a wonderful day sir.
Mai Dayjeen Thanks, let me know how it goes!
legend! Cheers. I like how you have little fear, yet prolly alot of respect for your table saw.
"respect" isn't exactly the right word....more like "omg, you still have all your fingers?"
Nice job. I also like the editing. You take away the boring parts.
Perhaps take away a bit at the top to match the ruler shape.
Jack, that is cool. I need to make me one, also a depth gauge.
Brilliant simple and well made. Thank you for such a super simple idea!
Nice little project, another for my list of things to make...
Very nice idea Jack. We'll done. And you just saved me $90
Love the idea, and appreciate your sharing but as others have said safety is a issue especially as this goes out to so many. Thanks
I'll come over later and get yours, then he can use that to push the wood through. That work for you?
Hey man

I think its especially interesting given that the notches are quite small.
Did you use a band saw or a table saw or something else?
Thanks a lot.
Jack, that's a really sweet design! Me likey.
thanks for your instructions.
this device will actually be useful.
Hi Jack another great project to do. I'll do similar but arc the top and drill a hole through to hang;-)
Wouldn't it be better to have the line on the inside of the plexiglas? Because this way you have to be on eye-level with the hight of the line (because of the thickness of the plexiglass). Nice video, I"m gonna make me one!
Nice design! Like the video!
Sell the idea to Woodpecker or Microgig, it's a great one. Can you put stops on it and a magnetic base?
That is DOPE Jack. Love it.
Very nice Jack!
great tool for the shop
i've got to make one
thank for posting
Nice video. But you shouldnt use your thumb to push the wood over the saw. You can get easily hurt!
Nicely build
Very good.
It is possible to improve the design using a Digital Caliper
Grateful for the video.

That was awesome! ive got to start doing some innovating of my own...
Hi. Do you sell it. If yes I want one.
that is wood thickness of the base and the mobile part ?
...just too simple!.....fantastic.
That's very nice Jack I'm going to make me one
I'm making one this weekend.........Thanks Jack. ..............and to think I was going to drop $35.00 for one LOL
I will most certainly do that Sir . I have some leftover highly figured Flame Maple, I think I will make it from that !
Nice work. Get this man a grr-ripper!
Nice gauge, I'll make one. But, I gotta tell ya.....my ass puckered every time I saw you run wood over that table saw blade with your bare hands.
The scratch should be INSIDE. Because u get paralaxe errors. IMHO
But very good project!
.. Good work..
One of the most unsafe use of a table saw I have saw in 70 years
Nice 👍 u know about odd job rules
Nice job
Great idea I'll definitely be making one of these thanks so
Gute Idee.
Translation: Turn the plexiglass around so that the line is next to the ruler, thus avoiding parallax errors.
That's a good point.
Nice video.i've got to make one
Nice project
Una idea eccezionale veramente sei bravissimo
nice tool idea, thanks for sharing...

you seem... shakey, any explanation for that? i keep thinking youll get badly injured
Nice I going to make one ☝️ thanks
I don't know if your a new wood worker and if not you are to old not to use a push block, remember young wood workers be watching you and using you for a example.
I wonder if you've still got a thumb on your right hand? Scary to watch. Use push sticks!
Thanks Sr great idea...
That's Great ... I will make one ... and I'll be sure to wood burn in "Design by Jack Houweling" or maybe the "Houwelingamajig"
Muy Bueno!!!! Gracias!!!!

hi,super smart,thx
veri gud
tres bien pencee...
Hi
Yeah, nice, but you might want to think about making some push sticks. I cringe at how close your fingers were to the blade on the table saw.
You have not seen this one:
/watch?v=JaCzKEz3Ndg
Really scary !
Thanks Jack, I'll make one soon...
Check my firts video,,,Thanks Sr.
