I think you're way too critical of this one. The bosses and their weapons are pretty creative imo, the music is as good as 3's, plenty of levels, the charge shot, the secret balloon and wire. It's challenging but mostly fair. Of course by now the formula was what it was but I think they achieved the by then expected level of quality with this one.

The Pharaoh weapon goes diagonally and horizontally. The orb over your head when charging also hits enemies, and costs you no energy. Then you still have the charged shot to use after that. So it's 2 for 1.
underrated game. this gave us the megabuster. in some ways, the series only gets good here. 4, 5 & 7 are all criminally underrated.
"Yeah, ring against ring is way better."

Ring takes away one bar while an uncharged pharaoh shot takes away what looks like three to five bars. Ring sure is better.
"What if I used dust on dust?"
Mike hits with it and Dustman loses one bar of life.
"Yeah, that works decently."
Mike uses drill bomb on Drill Man.
He only loses one bar of life.
"That doesn't work for shit."

Mike on dive missile: "It uses so much of it too. You really have to use it sparingly."
Each shot uses only a single bar of ammunition and does about five times that much damage to Drill Man, oh, and you have about 30 bars of ammunition. You have enough to kill Drill man about five times over before running out. Use it sparingly.

That me laugh so hard. Hahaha. Standardized weapon strengths and boss weaknesses is apparently Mike's weakness.

Actually Dive Missile does 3 points of damage to Drill Man. Same as the charged buster weapon. But Dive Missiles are better since they track Drill Man down and you don't lose your shot window. That's the deal. Charged Pharaoh Shot deals 6 points of damage to Ring Man and also kills easily off the ring toss mid bosses in one single charged shot. That's a tell I guess.
Mega Man 4 is the best in the series.
Nintendo Dreamer its actually the worst because the fact is the mega man 2 is the best. It's a fact it's in the 10 commandments.

@@ConnorsPiano I play the classic NES Mega Man titles a lot. And MM2 is among my favorites. But 4 rules and MM1 shares a close second place with MM2. Sometimes I even like MM6 the most but only because I lack the nostalgia for it as it got never released in Europe.
For the record, my opinion is that "P" stands for Primary. As in Primary Weapon.

+shaggyusm26 "P" is for _Player_. It comes from legacy game displays where "P1" would designate the life bar or score for player 1 and "P2" designated the life bar or score for player 2. In MM1, there was nothing next to the "P", but the number of lives was nearby. In MM2 and MM3, the life bar was next to "P". So the "P" doubled as the life bar and the selection of the default weapon. Notice it had nothing to do with the weapon energy left, since the default weapon had unlimited energy. The "P" doesn't actually mean or stand for the name of the default weapon.

shaggyusm26 That's okay. I think that would have been in the instructions though. I think the MM1 instructions never mentioned it, MM2 instructions called it "default Mega Man weapon", and MM3 briefly mentioned the "Arm Cannon", although that might have referred to the form his arm takes, and not any specific weapon. It is true that in old games "P1" and "P2" and "P" marked player statuses. How is this different?

Retrospectively, if the MM games would keep up with its logic and consistency, P should stand for Plasma, as Mega Man's Arm Cannon is referred to as a Plasma Cannon, where plasma is the weapon/projectile to be shortened to P.
But considering his weapon was called Rock Buster in Rock Man 1-3 (with the inconsistent names in Mega Man 1-3, as you mentioned), and the Mega Buster in MM4 actually being the *New* Mega/Rock Buster, without any reference to a Plasma Cannon or plasma or anything at all, the only sensible and logical conclusion is that it refers to Player, as it was the default terminology of the time.
The reason is quite simple: There exists no reference to Person, Power, Primary etc being right, and there were no convention at the time of these words being used to refer to the default weapon or player status at all. Player, on the other hand, was used in almost all games. It was simple convention.

Phaharoh shot kills Wily with 3 hits, that´s not enough easy for you ? And how you managed to die at Ring man with 2 E-tanks ? You wasted all of your weapons and E-tanks to the boss gauntlet even you didn´t have to. Don´t blame the game if you playing it wrong.
I have beaten this game without dying, E-tanks and buster only, except final Wily which can´t be damaged with anything else than Pharaoh shot.
And every Maga man game have useless weapons like Flash stopper at Mega man 2 you even can´t shoot while using it or Quick boomerang.
I like how Mike went from almost whispering in the streams to now swearing and yelling out loud.
Wouldn't be a Mega Man game without the classic "Wily Eyebrow Wiggle."
"He's the easiest boss in all of Mega Man." And, guess what? You fought Toad Man...THE HARD WAY. This guy truly is. You can stand there, stare him off as you charge up the Mega Buster, watch him dance and tell him to (censor) off as you give him a tummy ache. He'll go 'oof', ponder life and try to dance, again. Buster this fool until dead. You don't even need to touch the D-Pad. Unlike Pharaoh Man, it doesn't even feel cheap as you're not casting the equivalent of a God Genie code on him. He literally believes that his dance will out run your mega charge. Just don't 'pop-pop-pop' him with your 'Pop gun', inbetween.
I found it interesting that after Megaman 3 they tried to mix it up and tell you there was a new villain but it always turns out to be Dr Wily in the end anyway.
It doesn't really bother me though Im a big Megaman fan myself.

Sorry Mike, I dont think you will ever see that Konami collection. Komani pretty much already stated that MGSV was the last major game release they will ever do. From now on its pretty much video poker and video pachinko machines for them. No more Contra, Metal Gear, Castlevania, Gradious, or any of that stuff.
Mega man 2 is good but your nostalgia for it is clouding your judgement when you say MM4 is bad compared to Mega man 2. The metal blade is TOO good. It kills every thing so there isn't a need to change weapons for different enemies. Also it almost drains no energy. You only need a power up now and then so basically you can spam that shit.
I grew up with MM4 though so i'm biased to it just like you are for MM2.

When I was a kid I had a nes advantage so I used turbo buttons so megaman was super easy

I think the overall end fight with Wily in this Mega Man is harder than any other out of the original six games. The last form... how are you supposed to know to use Pharaoh Man with a ton of trial and error? Jesus christ.
