    Thanks for taking time to make these!🤙 I have the 1150png which I love but want to break into the black series fuse with a larger foil for paddle ups and light wind winging. I'm looking for better glide, same or more speed, 'efficiency' in the ultra light winds.. not so much quick turns in the light stuff. So maybe ArtPro 1401 for lightwind (7-12knots) winging and SP 1100 for wind above 13 knots? 75kgs.

      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому +1

      Without knowing too much of your ability - at 75kgs I'm not sure you'd need to get as big as the 1401. It'll certainly get you up early there's no doubt about that - but it'd be a lot of wing to use for your weight. You could certainly go smaller in my mind.

    Hi Dave, board are you using in the surf with the 1180? Seen your vid on the 95lt sultan wing board and it looks great for an all purpose board to wing, prone and DW (got the FD assist plus). Bit off topic but for a 2 board quiva I like the idea of sultan wing and something smaller for prone and high wind winging (97kg) 🤙🏼

    I want to start down wind winging this summer in the Columbia gorge. I just can’t tell which would be better: 1401 or 1180? I want to like the 1180 better; probably more fun with plenty of power and more versatile.

      @@davewestfoils where do you think the 1401 limits out? 15k winds medium bumps?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      @@ben3989 Hard to say. You could definitely take it into 20 knot conditions etc. like I've done with the PNG 1300. You just end up peeling off lots of the bumps. You have to baby the foil to make sure you don't go too fast. Totally doable and it's what you need when you're learning.

    Hey man thanks for doing this vid. Question - For DW learning, it is easier to paddle up than the 1300? I'm a beginner DW and can get up and do short runs, so want to know if it will be easier to get in the air. I DW on Morton Bay. Cheers!

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      Hey Mate, Definitely easier once in the air but mildly harder to paddle up. Great choice for Moreton Bay. Smashes through a jellyfish pretty good too I found out yesterday.

    Thoughts on 1401 vs. 1180 for LW winging?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      I’d go the 1180. Tacking etc on the 1401 will be harder and more likely to breech. 1401 will get up and stay up in lighter wind though.

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      The 1401 will stay and up glide in lighter wind however the 1180 is gonna be easier to tack and gybe - which is where most of us fall in lightwind.

    I have 1201 does the 1180 Spitfire require less speed to get up? And I guess just more maneuverable than the 1201?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      I'd say for me it's less speed for sure to get up and more manourverable. The 1201 is faster though.

    How is the flat water paddle up compared to the 1401?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      I found them both on the very easy end of paddle ups. 1401 is slightly easier but the 1180 allows you to make direction changes etc. which can be pretty helpful. :)

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      The 1401 is easier in terms of lift however the 1180 allows you to make direction adjustment more easily. They’re both on the very easy side of things.

    so where does the 1180 sit for ease of paddle up? So many big foil from Axis now. Is it liftier than the 1050? What about compared to 1201?

    • @davewestfoils
      @davewestfoils  6 місяців тому

      Liftier then the 1050 for sure. I think it goes 1310, 1401, 1150, 1180, 1201 1050 and so on. Not an exact science. So I'd put it in the extremely easy category of wings. For me the 1201 is the first size wing that requires more effort and board speed to get up.

      @@davewestfoils ok yeah I don’t doubt ur integrity …. yet 😎. Future content idea suggestion: someone needs to do a front wing matrix for (Armstrong, Axis, Unifoil, Code, GoFoil) brands that shows equivalent wing type categories. Sort of like a Rosetta Stone for cross brand foil speak. Go on.
