I just made this. Didn't understand completely but thankfully the English subtitles came to rescue. I don't know much about Greek food at all and have never had any Greek food apart from yoghurt (I've never even tried feta cheese). This pie was absolutely delicious and a great hit with all my family. My pastry could have been rolled even thinner and I think next time I will add a little less oil to the spinach mixture. Thank you very much for sharing 😀. Any recommendations on which Greek food recipe I should attempt next?

Absolutely loved this video thank you. I miss my Mum as I haven't been able to see her during Covid....two years already and she's turning ninety coming Spring. It was extra special seeing you interact so charmingly and naughtily with your wonderful mum. I am definitely going to try making this pie this way... I cheat on so many levels LOL so I want to do it properly at least once. I made one last night. For this I used frozen spinage blocks (your mum is feinting) bought already rolled out frozen puff pastry (definitely feinting) but lovely fresh spring onions, greek feta (from Greece itself) and Greek olive oil (think she recovered a little?). I even threw in some lemon zest and wild Greek origanum, whatever......(don't let her fall?). So now I know exactly how to make it thank-you. BTW the lemon zest was horrible. I'm over lemon zest already...... it is nice on a spicy barbecued Madras prawn, though.
Love this concept, it can be shared so nicely and it's so easy it fills me with confidence .......well of course I still will be using frozen filo pastry and frozen spinach but for the rest its going to be exactly the same minus a Dutch oven. Ooops. My oven is so old anyway and with a little help it does exactly the same thing as a Dutch Oven. Gonna be lovely and in your Mum's honor Mr Georgia. Strange coincidence but my sister is building a house in Greece, a lovely beach house, we could soon be neighbours!...One can only hope she will have me. And secondly my dog comes from Georgia, a gorgeous big Caucasian Shepherd, my life and soul......Coincidence Mr Georgia?

Of course it tastes better cooked in the traditional manner. ;) The electric/gas oven has no charcoal smoke to flavor it. :) But the home version is still good. :)
Yah it's the stone too giving off a very different kind of heat. Moment the pie is on the heat starts cooling, however extremely slowly. This retraction of heat during and after it's cooked gives it a completely different flavour profile. Normal oven stays a very constant temp the whole time untill you remove. This dutch-oven seems to nurse the dish from begining to end just perfectly. I have a feeling you can go fishing for six hours and come back to a perfect spanakopita. Just a feeling.

the ingredients are 1KG ALL PURPOSE FLOUR, VIRGIN OLIVE OIL,A PINTCH OF SALT,VINEGAR NOT MORE THAN 2TABLE SPOONS,1KG WATER ,OLIVE OIL YOU CAN ADD ABOUT 4-5TABLESPOONS. I HAVE DONE THIS RECIPE SO I THINK ITS VERY EASY ! TRY IT guillelloseta.

Please don`t use 1 kilo water as said above, only 500 gr.! And check again for filling ingredients, there are english subtitles now!

That is only the recipe for the hand made dough
You have to prepare the stuffing
With fresh spinach
Clean it well and throw it inside hot boiling water .Take out straightener
Cut up some fresh scallions one small onion and fresh parsley
Little salt and pepper
Three eggs and plenty good greek feta cheese (crumble)
Your will need some good butter and some olive oil ,for the dough(filla)
Don’t thing that it is the easiest thing to make

* 1 Kg. all purpose flour
* 500ml (2 cups) water
* 200 gr. butter
* 4 Tbsp. olive or sunflower oil
* 1 Tbsp. vinegar
FOR THE FILLING
* 1.5 Kg. fresh spinach
* 2 yellow onions
* 1 bunch green onions (scallions)
* A little fresh parsley
* 1 cup olive oil
* 500 gr. feta cheese
* 3 eggs

Brilliant demonstration, the preparation and the cooking, but 30 minutes .......you really need to do some editing. We all know how to mix feta and spinach. I suggest you look at Pasta Grannies, all done in in five minutes, the make complicated pasta dishes too.
