Finally, this was exactly what I needed. A proper drum kit sound for programming. Most tutorials end up being “table top” drum loops so this was very helpful
this video is the only one that youtube should recommend when it comes to drums, i've learned more about the drum in this single video than in any other video i've watched from so many different "producers" that don't care about the "realism" behind it ... thanks a lot, got a sub and if someone ask me who i recommend it would be you for you for sure ! cheers from france.
I’m stoked he chose a Jazz tutorial for his first vid That said, there’s like 1000 different sub-genres across those 3 over-genres you named. Might want to get a bit more specific in the meantime. Otherwise Erwick’s going to stay on grind mode trying to get through ALL 3000 sub-genre videos until our Sun perma dims and freezes whatever’s left floating around our dying solar system by then Think of the poor kid’s health, is all I’m saying 😅
Very helpful indeed bro. I've been in and out of bands for over 30 years (pub gigs mostly) and I am able to play multiple instruments to a decent level (lead guitar is my main weapon) and I do understand where what comes in but putting this into a software program is fricken annoying and somewhat drives me crazy. What would take me some minutes on the actual instrument takes me forever on my PC so thank you very much.
Thank you SO much for making this video! It REALLY helped me get a better understanding for programming realistic drums. All other videos out there is just a basic 4/4 beat, but I was looking for something more complex and this was exactly it!
@@erwickdsouza Really helpful as well as inspiring! I would love more drum programming videos, more complex styles like fusion or funk! And love your music, would be awesome if you could take about arranging/song writing with us :) Keep up the great content!! Cheers from Iceland.
the clear amount of effort, quality, care to deliver such a delightfully informative video is refreshing. you've earned an easy devout sub. thanks very much - sincerely, aspiring musician lol. cant wait to check out ur other vids, this'n has helped me learn a lot!
Solid only! This is exactly how to do it. Having Simone explain while building different riffs or patterns is the best way to understand what’s going on. Tanks
This is very interesting! I'm a piano teacher but planning on experimenting music production and you made it so clear on drum programming. Thank you for this video Erwick! 😁
Appreciate your good work brother..long time I wanna see a video on how to compose something like realistic acoustic drums..now I'm so glad to find you..Im feeling blessed by this tutorial..thank you so much..
Right timing. I am looking to improve my drums and I luckily found your video. Great quality. Straightforward. I am subscribing now. Awesome lesson on how to program more realistic sound and also how to incorporate it in the groove. Muchas gracias!

This is an amazing tutorial! Thank you. The groove is schaweet too! There is something about good rhythm that cleans one's mind, like spiritual medicine. This has got it!
Hey man, I enjoyed this tutorial! I listened to your song creations and I really like your style, especially the "ambient" music or whatever the genre is. I love Lowride (Soundcloud) at 0: 15 and 1: 30, I like the last 2/3:s of Bells of the Holocaust. I also liked Perseverance | Cinematic Jam and Ambient Electronic Live Looping Jam from youtube. These types of songs are truly inspiring for me. I love music without vocals that try to tell a story. Great job, I'd love to hear more songs from you which are similar to those I just mentioned! One question though: I couldn't find the background music in this video (It's enhanced at 25:32). Do you know where I can find it?
Hey, thanks for the kind words! it was just a random piece of music I created for my videos. I have not really released it anywhere. You should check out the one on my latest video.
@@erwickdsouza I checked it out. I wasn't really interested in the topic of the video but I thought the background music was decent and I liked the short piece you put together on the Ipad. I think I am discovering a genre I like which I didn't even know existed... Regarding the end of that video, you said to let you know if we have any comments/suggestions for your videos. First off, the production value of your videos is really high, especially for the number of views you get (you already know this from other comments, I thought it was worth mentioning anyway). Second: I'd like to see a tutorial from you on how to produce a progressive cinematic song. This might be a big ask, but it's at least an idea. You could mention key parts like how to produce a deep bass (you did a great job in Lowride, also the reverbing "clicks" accompanying the bass seem to be prevalent in that genre), how to utilize strings for best effect, and how to convey a mood/tell a story with a piece of music, to name a few things. Hope to see more content from you soon! :)
I've learnt a lot from this series, thanks a lot man. Also are you by any chance gonna do one on programming realistic guitars, acoustic or electric, cause that would be amazing.
Straight into the piano roll if you know what you're doing. If you don't, use any midi controller to lay in the basic groove with a metronome, then quantize. Improvise the details in the piano rollm
