"Life is too short to be so scared of handbags." Well said! Forget FOMO; it's all about what works for you. I love my Pochette Metis. It's one of my favorite and most used bags, and I've had no issues with it.
Yes life is too short to be worried about our bags! I always want light colored bags but always so scared of color transfer and wear and tear. But I decided that life’s too short so why not just get it and enjoy it 💕😂
I’d really have to disagree. My medium Coco Handle is one of my favorite bags ever! ❣️ It’s in white caviar with champagne gold hardware and I have no problems with it at all. It’s a great day bag but works so well for night events too (depending on the color of my outfit LOL). I’m also pretty tall so it works well with my frame in that size. Imo if your CCH was in a different color, it probably would’ve been a much more different experience 😂
I have the same experience with my medium black Coco Handle! The bag only goes with more formal and lady-like clothes, like a wrap coat. It is the least worn bag in my collection.
I have the pouchette Métis in empriente black, red, and Turtledove…I love them all. So simple and functional. But,I recently got a Dior Bobby in Carmel and I love!!!! It’s so classic. I now want the Bobby in the white like you have…such a versatile bag. Waiting on a Fendi Peekaboo Mini right now in black…hope it lives up to the hype. Love your videos and advice! Keep it up!
I wanted the Pochette Métis so bad. But I decided to get the Coach Cassie because it has better back pocket, leather, inside the bag is sooo much better than the PM. Never regret since!!
I actually owned a pochette Métis and bought the Coach Cassie in Oxblood a few months later. Loved the craftsmanship and the rich leather on the Coach Cassie that I wore it more than the pochette Métis. I finally just sold my pochette metis. Coach wins 1000% on that design and it is a fraction of the price.
My friend and I each bought a Coach Cassie when it was on sale. We both love it! Back pocket and so many compartments. Such a great find. We also have a Pochette Métis but for some reason the Coach Cassie is our favorite.
Great advice. I am short (less than 5 ft)…when it comes to bags I go with what I like… even if the bag seems to big for me. When you buy something you have to love it.
Hi Lou, very well said. You should buy a bag that works for you not because its on trend.I think we all make mistakes when we start buying luxury handbags because we go in awwww. Soon enough we get more comfortable entering these boutique and make more conscious decision of what we are buying instead of being so impulses.
I have PS MM and super love it. Strap used to bother me at first but after using it for 2 years now, it became my fave feature of the bag. It’s just so comfy, it’s my fave travel bag.
I had the same dilemma with the caviar versus lambskin. When I bought my Chanel Jumbo, they put both in front of me and the caviar just looked so waxy and dull and the lambskin was so beautiful and luxurious so I went with the lamb skin. No regrets.
Have you seen the guy from tiktok who dissects leather? Basically according to him the chanel caviar is just printed and is overly finished. That’s why it looks waxy. So disappointing.
I've got that Urban Spirit coral color. I'm not so comfortable wearing it, always too worry to stain or scratch it. But I love it, the Medium size is perfect on my back and I can carry many things inside. The fact I have only light colors on my wardrobe is good, so I have a bit of color with the bag to match maybe a lipstick or polish nail.
The palm spring PM is d best bag more sporty and rugged!! I used ths bag errday rather than my speedy, neverfull, sperone! My palm spring s d best purchased for me perfect bag..♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for sharing your experience, Lou. My mistake was in buying the LV Alma PM in the vernis leather. I talked about it in my recent video on the bags I sold. I was so afraid to use it for fear of colour transfer. It also started becoming sticky and the colour started changing. Finally, I sold it and made a huge loss ☹️
I still don’t know about lambskin 😢 i have a pink one and it has a stain & it scratches so easily i don’t even want to use it. Same w the coco handle lol. Idk what i was thinking!
It depends. I don't know how old Lou was when she was going to college; I went to university when I was in my thirties (so a little bit later, due to personal reasons), and I used the LV Bosphore backpack for my books (yes, the exact same Lou mentioned in the beginning 😉, my only LV Monogram Canvas bag), AND I wore a handbag for my non-university-related stuff. But as I said, I was older, and I guess that could make a difference.
@@elizabethandrews4199 Ah, ok, thanks, Elizabeth 😊! I'm impressed at what Lou accomplished at that relatively young age, but it can very well be that a designer bag used for university (or college) could draw more attention than it did at my age.
Nothing wrong with that. Everyone at my uni was using Lv never full or the CD book tote and I used a Goyard, I feel like it depends on the environment as well.
Pochete metis I didn’t like initially but wearing it currently and in LOVE. I have three of them including the one on reverse. I don’t have any issues with any of them .
I have definitely been there a few times. I just recently sold my Speedy 20 in the navy Empreinte leather that I thought that I was going to love. But I only worn it once and every time that I thought about wearing the bag, I ended up picking another bag instead. Also, I had the GG marmont small flap in the pink color that was an impulse. I don’t really wear pink but I took the chance and got it and wore it once just to have at least put it on and I never touched it again, so I sold the bag.
I passed on a Navy small classic flap and TOTALLY regret it! I bought 4 Alma, and sold them all. I tried to make the bag work! But never would reach for it!
Thank you for this very helpful video and for sharing your experiences! Luckily for me, I tend to be a very cautious person and I usually don't make big "mistakes" when buying bags, but it still happened to me once and I'm still regretting it to this day. It was my first Louis Vuitton handbag. Many years ago, I bought the Alma BB in Epi leather, in a color that was somewhere between fuchsia and raspberry. For some reason that color was very fashionable back then. I loved it at first, but after a while I started realizing that the color was too bright for my style. 90 percent of my wardrobe consists of black, grey, and navy. I found the fuchsia color beautiful but it looked too flashy for me. I still own this bag because it has sentimental value, as it was my first luxury handbag, but I almost never use it anymore. I wish I had bought it in black leather instead, or even in Monogram or Damier Ebène. I've definitely learned my lesson and now I only purchase my bags in neutral colors.
i have a caviar beige claire the only classic flap i bought brand new, i used to own a 30year old classic flap in black i sold its hard to spend on something thats exorbitantly expensive and have to worry about it all the time so i just got the caviar and just bought a saint laurent puffer bag, i feel like the lambskin from saint laurent is much more durable than the chanel, i did splurge on the chanel 22 in white though but man its a pain i literally clean it every after use and i dont use it when i know im gona be eating or drinking something, i don't use it when i know i will be in a crowded area i don't use it when there are alot of kids or dogs around cause they just bump into you and not care, dogs just jump over you and sniff your bag so yeah... i only use it to the gym and before putting it in the locker i clean the locker its a pain...maybe il get another one in black and silver hardware cause the gold hardware the colour fades but it chips off it doesn't fade like the louis vuitton hardware, the LV hardware fades beautifully this one chips off...
sorry to hear that coco chanel didn't workout for you. However, I have one and really love it, I think the correct size is really matter. I'm petite and my coco chanel is small, it fits me perfectly
Great video! You made some really great points. I've done the same in the past, "settling" for something and ending up not happy. That happened recently with me. In Barcelona, I saw a Loewe small Flamenco bag in white. It was so lovely but I was scared of the white. My sister bought the bag and was using it recently during a visit. I couldn't stop admiring the bag so I ended up buying it here in the US...at a higher price! I should have just followed my heart.
My biggest regret is buying my black YSL toy loulou I’ve literally not even taken it out the box, as a mum & student it just doesn’t work for me but it’s too late to return 😭. Hoping the price increase goes up enough for me sell it to at least get my money back to buy something more suitable for me. I have a Balenciaga belt bag and I literally use it every single day. So I’ll maybe get a Ysl belt bag for more dressy outfits
i love the toy lou lou use it! until the 3-4 price increases and then sell it, my toy lou lou is mustard love it to death bring two bags one baby bag and toy lou lou who cares... use it, its black anyway you don't have to worry about it
I bought a pochette Métis in monogram and use it everyday because it’s a very casual handbag and looks great with jeans. However the top handle is delicate and it wears down fast so I don’t like grabbing it by the handle. I also bought a Chanel medium lambskin blue handbag impulsively at the boutique and really regret it because that royal blue is so bright for my wardrobe that it didn’t suit me. I felt like I impulsively spent so much money at once when I went to Chanel only because I wanted something from Chanel. I should have done more research.
Always love your videos ❤ you’re so calming and sweet. I appreciate what you said in regards every body is different. Bags fit differently on everyone. We forget that, we’ll at least I know I do ❤ stay beautiful
Random did you get a hair cut ? Because girl your hair looks fabulous! I have the Bosphore back pack purchased in 2015 few of the annoyances is the zipper always hits the ring the noise. Jeans stained the pochetta. + the straps don’t have grip. I use it for airport travel only now.
What a great video! I purchased the Chanel Denimpression in gray/black in the larger size and paid a premium price. I can’t return it and I feel like I’m forcing myself to like it. 😢
When i am in Paris, i was looking at the wallet and asking the as should i get the lambskin or the caviar... should i get something i like or something that is lasting.. .she said pick something i really like.. so i picked the lambskin long wallet ....
Mine is a very cheap mistake recently… I bought a faux leather bag because the style, size, and configuration was perfect. And indeed when I used it for literally 1 day, the experience was great. It was one up in functionality versus my previous everyday bag BUT I did not feel happy carring it. I just love the feel of real leather against me and now I’m sure I cannot settle for fake leather anymore.

I actually bought the LV Croisette 5 years ago when it was impossible to find the Pochette Metis and I’m about to sell it now cause I’ve probably used it less than 5 times since it was bought!
Can you make a video explaining how you make sure your lambskin bags don't get damaged? I also like it much more than caviar... but I live in Amsterdam and is constantly raining so I'm also a bit afraid! :) Love your videos! And your bags ahah
The pochette Métis! I agree with you and had a similar experience. The strap also caught my hair often. I saw it the other day on someone out and about. It is so beautiful, it just did not work for me.

All my totes. None of them work for me other than for the airport/train. I still am trying to find a Birkin that will work... Because I keep thinking why? Why can't a Birkin work for me? I want to get a Birkin pocket and think that will make it a perfect bag because I can wear it closed and put my phone in the pocket... That's my plan... Wish me luck hahaha
I’ve learned the hard way not to get *too* wrapped up into the aesthetics of a bag and instead, try to weigh the functionality of a bag before considering buying it. I’ve resold 3 of my 4 luxury bags specifically because I found them too big for my frame. 😢
same with me. i also love chanel classic flap in lambskin. i do feel like lambskin more closed to my heart than caviar. everything i see classic flap in caviar i feel like and look like im so old. different feel and look when im using lambskin, feel modern and young. that's what i feel 😂 that is why i more into classic flap lambskin medium. im thinking to add on others season color too next. u should too lou 😍😍😍😍
Statistically speaking, if you are not born rich, women spending so much time and money in luxuary bags in their youth will end up relatively poorly when they grow older.
