Hi guys! I need to apologize for calling Albania "cheap" - it's a negative word and I didn't think about relative wealth. It's not ok for me to call 20 Euro a day "cheap" when for some people it's a daily wage. I'm sorry!
please dont apologise.I hate people who try to be politically correct. We albanians know it that when you say it cheap it means by your own standards and for us is expensive but we do not get offended. We are just grateful that you visited our country and we really pray that you had a good and safe time. That is all.
Yea, for us we found Albania very "affordable" but the quality of the food and the customer service was our of this world! Byreks were always good options for a snack on the go. We loved Dajti Express. Its dropped to 800 Lek a person now.
I think you're misinforming here: lots of people in Albania use old lek and new lek. So if that guy said nuts were 1400 lek, he meant it in old lek for sure, which is just over a 1 euro only. They are lovely people who will go out of their way to help you.
7:20 A lot of Albanians still tend to refer to old Leke when trading especially in markets, but what they actually mean is New Leke, which has have been Revalued and has had a 0 dropped. Which means most likely he/she wasn't trying to charge you €11.50 but €1:15. I guess this causes a lot of confusion for tourists. Anyway Great Footage, Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for not contributing to Tourism Inflation ( paying high prices just cause you're on holiday ). It makes prices tougher on the locals to live.
