Auto Repair Guys one thing guys you'll never explain the whole process through. I watched this video a few times to get prepared to do mines. You'll never explained to be careful when replacing the valve body back on because of the selector rod that has to be attached to the mechanism that allows you to shift. The yellow plastic piece will break if you do not attach it firmly in to position. It is still a good video to learn from but needs more information.

You guys rock. I was dreading this project for more than 6 months and when I finally got the guts to attempt it, everything went just as you described and my ML320 is now on the road again. Replacing the contuctor plate was a whole lot easier than I ever imagined.
    Thanks a million.

Thank you so much. I have used this channel and your main channel for so many repairs for my 2005 ML500. It now has 250k miles on it. Changed the radiator, engine mounts, and now conductor plate myself. And I'm in real estate, now a mechanic, haha!

I owe you! My 1999 ML 320 had strange transmission troubles which seemed to be getting worse. I put off looking at it for more than a year because I thought the worse. I watched your video, bought the conductor plate and other things I needed and got to work. I will also say, this work was pretty easy to perform too. I think most anybody with any mechanical skills can do this. My ML320 which has 138k miles is running and shifting perfectly.

IN ML 320 ITS 8.5 LITERS, TORQUE 6 NM FOR THE COVER SCREWS AND 20 NM OIL BOLT.. PLEASE USE OEM OIL FROM PENTOSIN ATF 1LV ($84 FOR 2 CANS OF 5 LITERS AT AMAZON ) + $55 FOR TRANSMISSION CONDUCTOR/FILTER/SEAL RUBBER AT EBAY. Hello, great video...I have the same model (W163) but 1998 model. Do you know which is the repait kit (overhauling I guess is the name) for the automatic transmission? I need the complete one in order to run a full repair of the transmission...Thank youand looking forward.

Hey buddy, thanks for the great video. I've done this procedure and followed all the online suggestions but now I have a error code. P2106 The internal electrical check of component y3/6y6( torque converter lockup PWM solenoid valve) has failed. I clear it and it works then comes back. I don't know what to do anymore. Can you please explain? Any help would be helpful.
