Purchased one last weekend. Already have 600 rounds through it. No issues with the pistol or with Pmags or Glock OEM mgs. Trigger is much better than a standard Gen 3.
Yup that's kind of my reason for buying it. Never liked Glock grip angle but I recognize it is quickly becoming a universal platform much like the AR. There's likely more Glock mags floating out there than any other platform.
just sold my 19 to buy a pdp compact. but i will absolutely buy this to replace my "lost" 19. it sucks because i wish i had gun shops near me worth a damn that offered used glocks at a good price, but ive been stuck buying online for every purchase, and as im writing this, this gun is under $400. this just makes sense.
I've got 500 rounds through mine so far. The first 200 was a mix of manufacturers factory loads 124g. 250 of my FMJ 124g reloads. 50 rounds of Sig V-Crown 124g JHP. No problems to report. The trigger that was a little gritty at first has improved quite a bit. This is my normal break-in for a new handgun.
Lenny at the Glock store in Nashville did a video, you can even swap out the slide, almost all parts are interchangeable, and the mags work also, even G 17s?
Now own both this and a G19 gen 3. A lot to like, but I prefer a crisp trigger and the Ruger is anything but. Was very gritty at first and required a good cleaning (loaded with grease from the factory) and that improved it - even better after a break in, but still prefer the Glock trigger - too much creep for me. Grip frame seems softer to me too. Light is leaving marks on the rail but does not on the Glock (same light).
This will be great if they fully commit to the chassis system? So many companies have gone down this road and outside of sig, they haven’t done well or zero support. I see the uniqueness of the chassis system is the ease of maintenance and convertibility but it never seems to go anywhere. Sig does this but you’d spend more designing your own pistol then just going out buying a new one, this defeats the purpose of chassis systems. If Ruger and MP can design slides and grips to create your own setup at cheaper prices then just buying a new pistol, then I can really see this succeeding. I’d like a G26 size footprint of this pistol as it would be better for deep conceal. Great review. Thanks.
I saw a Magpul employee on one of these media dumps about the pistol say they have a “12 round frame and 17 round frame in the works”. I take it the 12 round is actually the 26 frame as Magpul only makes a 12 round extended 26 mag to my knowledge.
Wish Magpul would make an optional frame with a 1911 grip angle vs the standard Glock grip angle - be nice to have both available…….😊 Or is this a different grip angle than the standard Glock? Didn’t notice it being mentioned.
The RxM has a grip angle that is closer to 1911, but not identical. Glock is 22 degrees, rxm 20, 1911 is 18. Would making it the same as 1911 cause feed problems with Glock magazines? Speculation.
@@kenandbarbie-b6c Thanks for the info on the grip angles. Not sure about the potential feeding issues with a 1911 grip angle using Glock magazines. Seems like they could do the grip with the 1911 angle externally and make the interior angle 2 degrees different to keep the magazines operating at the normal Glock angle. My guess is they looked at it while designing it and settled on the 20 degrees to appeal to both camps of preference (Glock & 1911 fan clubs). Most Glock fans would probably prefer the original Glock grip angle?? More speculation…….
@@hardtack8776 If they fully made the grip angle 1911 while keeping the feed geometry Glock, would they have to make the grip fatter to incorporate the new angle?
1:50 I've had the same experience with Ruger. However, every single semi-auto handgun I've sent to them came back working perfectly. And they were always nice about it. Have the guns always been fixed by Ruger when you sent them back?
This is my dream gun. A better Glock made by Ruger and it has a magpul frame. Merry Xmas to me! Will be breaking mine in on Xmas day had to give it to my mom to put under the family tree otherwise I’d be shooting it already 😂 But seriously I’ve ALWAYS wanted a Glock but am a Ruger fanboy and always end up getting a Ruger or something else over the Glock. And this dosnt fell all light cheap and plasticy like a Glock. Plus that 1911 grip angle 👌
Great review! While it's not what currently drives the market, I would have loved to see Ruger come out with an updated version of their old "P Series" pistol. That would have been original and unique in a world of Glock clones....
Me too! I love my P series pistols. Got them all. Like Pokémon. Got the SR9 too but that shark fin kills the look of the gun. Still damn good and nvr had any issues with it. But I still go back and forth between the SR9 and P95 when I want to carry something with some capacity
I have no doubt the firearm will function just fine, my concern is the finish of the weapon. Ruger isn't known for the best finish, and some have had rust issues with the LCP Max pistols. I haven't experienced that, but I have seen others with that problem. The finish of this pistol is a new process for Ruger, and so far it's totally unknown how it will hold up long term. For me, the main draw is the lack of the plate system for a red dot, and the grip angle. Both of those are what make the pistol such a great design. Plus, the frame being made by Magpul is a relief. Some of the clones out there are hit or miss with the frame quality. I don't see this as a Glock killer, not even close, but this will definitely be lord of the Glock clones.
Finish issues shouldn’t be a concern on an inexpensive carry weapon. Example: I carry a Gen4 G19 on my farm when I’m outside working. Rain, sweat, and dirt get on it constantly and from time to time rust starts to develop on the slide. A little steel wool and rust penetrate and it’s back on my side. These polymer guns aren’t trophy wives. They’re just inexpensive workhorses that will develop character from use and wear. .
I’ve been looking to send my Glock 19 slide out for milling and wanted to add co-witness sights in addition to upgrading my trigger. Doing that alone would cost $400 why bother? I’m buying this!
Did Ruger and Magpul combine to make a better Gen 3 than Glock? Maybe? Let's let the dust settle and see how the RXM performs during the next year and/or 1k rounds fired.
I would’ve preferred, Ruger turned the SR22 into the new SR9 but put a flat trigger on it and tweaked the maul safety because that’s one of the best looking guns they make but it’s a 22. But when you need to clone, someone else is Gun! that you giving up as a company! in my opinion
I was hoping for an updated version of the SR9, 40 and 45 series of handguns. But instead Ruger gives us another Glock clone. Very disappointed in Ruger.
Ir you don’t make more grips available to the consumer , the chassis makes no sense ! Echelon didn’t make grips they just released a new gun not giving acces to the grip ! You have to buy a whole new gun
Mag pul has already released a stand alone grip in black. They e stated they’re also doing fde and od. They are also going to be making 17 and 12 round frames. Magpul being part of this is going to bring the aftermarket running. Think closer to the p320 or 365 than the echelon.
Springfield Echelon grip modules are currently available on Springfield's online store as well as various other online retailers. Also, Sharps Bros and Icarus Precision also made metal grips for the Echelon.
Like with music, everything today was influenced by what came before. Ruger didn't just copy a gen3 Glock, they are offering a significant set of improvements while maintaining compatibility with most of the extensive gen3 aftermarket ecosystem. With the street price currently around $400 and sure to drop even more over time, the RXM is hard to resist. Ruger will sell many truckloads of these. Agreed, this is a great quick review of the pistol.
Do you hate all AR platform rifles that aren’t armalite or colt? If you have any other than those and you like it, then you like imitators. The AR become a platform same as the gen 3 Glock became a platform. You can thank Glocks lack of innovation over the last decade for this new market. And before anyone says “why does Glock need to change” why don’t you ask how that approach worked out for colt.

I've seen a person or two say the opposite about the trigger, but I agree 100%. Trigger feels much nicer.

Rugers usually does things right. After about a year of performance we'll see how it does. Im guessing very well. Thanks👍!

Nice pistol. Wish I could have it down here in Australia.
I would like to know how well this feeds hard cast heavy bullets like some heavy 357 bullets.
