    Awesome tutorial! I disassembled an old bearing to wear as a ring and it worked like a charm. Also if anyone is curious, skate bearings are almost exactly a size 9!

      Cool idea man.. Reminds me of how the BMX kids would recycle their bike chains into bracelets.

    Worked first try, that shield first method is the best I have found while failing for an hour or two! Thanks a lot :D

    This is a very useful tutorial, being able to completely assemble/disassemble a bearing gives you an ability to take maintaining of your skateboard to another level

    Thank you for this. I rebuilt my old bones ceramic bearings with this video, and pm swapped out the bearings themselves into super red housings. You saved me hundreds

    aww yes, I did it! the shield tip is what I needed
    , I put the middle thing in first and then squeezed the balls in with a help of a tool.
    so much for the cleaning.. putting it back together was such work that they're all sweaty :D

      I recommend putting the shield in and putting metal middle piece in and then the bearing balls it requires a lot of force but works for me When I mean a lot of force I mean A LOT of FORCE

    • @broderickclayburn
      @broderickclayburn 4 роки тому +1

      Also you have to make it just perfect of it will require too much force if you don’t get it perfect enough that’s the problem with all these ways of doing it you have to have an almost perfect and a lot of people can’t get things that perfect that’s the problem

    This man is a genius. If all the balls are equidistant from each other, there is no gap. So you remove the cage to allow you to push them all to one side and now there is a big gap for the inner race to slide out. So simple yet so effective! Much better than trying to hammer everything out like I was doing.🤣

    Do you do this every time you cleam them? Doesnt damage the cage?
    And can we mix all the disassembled bearings (for shaking in jar with cleaner) and then assemble them all mixed?
    (At least if they are all from the same brand and model?)

    the cleaned bearing spun better because it had no lubricant, unlike the factory bearing. this is fine and all, but if they're the same type of bearing, then the performance would be pretty dang close (if not exactly the same) with the same amount and type of lube.

    Pro tip, Never EVER take apart more than one bearing at a time. I just fucked my Bones super Reds cause they needed to be thoroughly cleaned from all the gunk I built up. I took out all the balls from all the bearings to let them soak in a cleaner but little did I know that they were all manufactured perfectly per bearing. Because all the balls were mixed up it was impossible to put them back in their original casing. Even though you cant see it, the balls are different sizes and wont fit perfectly if you put them in mixed up. Always make sure you clean one at a time so you don't get the balls mixed. Or, you know, just don't take them out...

    • @brace4ace45
      @brace4ace45 4 роки тому

      You could always try and weigh each ball with a digital gram scale. Might be able to re-unite the correct sizes that way.

    • @charlieconstable1981

      Just flopped on my super reds then saw this comment. How do u know that they’re different sizes? I’ve cleaned regular reds in a similar fashion and they seem fine.
