Did this hat for my friend and she loved it! Thank you so much for this clear tutorial, it was fun creating this although connecting the squares and the top of the hat difficult. But overall, this is definitely my favorite project as a beginner! Also, would like to share that I opted for a flat brim instead of a curly one. To do this, I followed round 1 which is 4 hdc and 1 inc then repeat, then hdc across for 2nd round. Round 3 is 6 hdc and inc then repeat, round 4 is hdc across, round 5 is 8 hdc and inc then repeat, and finished it with round 6 with hdc across. It would also look better if you do hdc flo! Thank you so much again 💖 Planning to do this again when I have time so me and my bestie will have matching bucket hats!!

Thank you for your tutorial. My question is the top of the hat finished with 95 stitches but the granny squares circle has a total of 80 stitches. How do I match the stitches when I join the top to the body?
i purposely made the top of the hat to finish in 95 stitches to match the total of 95 stitches from all 5 of the granny squares.. please don't forget that you will also include the corners of the granny squares (at time 37:12) into your slip stitch join which adds to the stitch count! if that's not the case, maybe you may have stitched in some extra stitches when you slipped stitched the squares together which is why you ended up with 80 stitches from the granny squares instead of 95! i hope this helps!
I don't know what I did wrong but somehow the stitchcount of the top of the hat is 15 more than the granny square part when joining with slip stitches 😭 i hope that i can figure it out somehow because so far everything was coming together so beauzifully 🥹 Thank you for your tutorial tho! ❤️

I’m not familiar with that brand of yarn. Is it cotton? What number is it so I could find a substitution yarn. I really want to make this hat. Thank you!
hello! The yarn im using makes the 4 double crochet pettals look too bulcky! Is there any difference if I make 3 double crochets in each pettal for the squares?
@@angela.christine Hello again! >~< I finished making the hat but while i was attaching the top to the sides, the stitches were not even, and there was a big gap with no stitches left to attach, and i dont know what i did wrong! Btw the petals came out good:)
Why ru doing half double and double crochets together on the last few rounds of the top of the hat? Why not just do double crochets all the way around while normally increasing? Sorry I’m just curious what it does to the hat or why you do it that way
i only did that in Round 6! i decided to add DC in the gaps since they have lower dips while adding HDC on the DC stitches from the previous round which are a little higher, but the rest of the rounds afterwards are done with HDC! i hope this made sense! 😅
oh noo, please make sure that you didn't miss any stitches in each round to avoid any miscount 🙏 in round 6, there should be 64 stitches (the chain 2 at the start of the round is included), but at round 7, there should be 80 stitches (not including the chain 2 for this count), i hope this helps!!
Can someone help me. The squares on the sides of the hat have 16 stitches at the top each. However 16 xs 5 equal 80 and not 95 let alone the increases. I’ve started this hat over 3 times being meticulous about the stitches. There are too many stitches on the top piece. What am I doing wrong?
oh nooo, ruffling tends to happen if you have too many stitches or if your tension is too tight! maybe try to take note of these as your work along your rounds~
You have the top of the hat at 95 stitches but connect it to the granny squares that have 85 stitches (17*5 stitches around). How are you matching it up?
don't forget to include the corner stitches of each square when you sew the sides of the hat to the top! if you include the corners, it will be 19 stitches, so 19*5 is 95 :))
Corner stitches are only two extra stitches. You have 5 groups of 3 stitches = 15. If you add 2 chains to each corner, then it’s 1 chain per corner dedicated to the side, so that one side of the granny square is 15+2 chains (from 2 corners). Is there a chain for the joined corners of the granny square? In the video you say to only crochet the one chain for the corner and then go directly to chain stitch of the corner of the next granny satiate. That still only totals 17*5= 85.
Or am I suppose to crochet in the 2 chains for each corner, thus each granny square side would be 15+4=19, then 19*5. Again in the video you only mentioned to crochet in one chain stitch of one granny square then move directly into the chain stitch of the next granny square before continuing. That means only one chain per corner per granny, or 2 chains per granny.
@@angela.christine at 37:40 it looks like you only slip stitch into 3 chain stitch’s, that would still only add up to 90 stitches around [(17*5)+5 joined chains]. Of the 2 turning chains, only one is dedicated to each granny square side, meaning 5 clusters of 3 plus one turning chain for each corner means each granny side has (15+2) stitches.
@@angela.christine are you crocheting 4 slip stitches for each corner? Then crocheting the slip stitches for the 15 normal double crochet? In the video you skip over mentioning you already crocheted into one of the corner chains before you mention how to crochet the corners
if it's 4ply milk cotton yarn, then i believe it should be fine :)) your hat *could* be ever so slightly smaller depending on the hook you use as well :>
i used around a little over 50g for the pink color. i can't really estimate how much i used for the white and yellow colors, but it's really just a small amount :))
maybe you're inserting your hook into both loops on the side of the granny square instead of just the inner loop? or maybe it's your tension that is keeping your squares from laying flat..
I would suggest that on the start of the brim you go into the the front stitch only , this works far better for making the brim stand out. Lovely Hat.🥰

Hello! Do you know how many grams did you use for which color? :)
i used around 50-70g of the pink yarn and around 20-30g each of yellow and white yarn :)
What size yarn is this?
5ply milk cotton yarn is size 3 / DK weight yarn :)
hi ! is it okay if the yarn is 4ply ? >
if it's 4ply milk cotton yarn, then i believe it should be fine :)) your hat *could* be ever so slightly smaller depending on the hook you use as well :>
How many grams did u used for the pink colour???
around 50-70 grams :)
how many grams of yarn in total did you use? PLSS ANSWER thanks
i used around a little over 50g for the
pink color. i can't really estimate how
much i used for the white and yellow
colors, but it's really just a small
amount :))
Could you make justin biebers bria crochet bucket hat? Please I need a tutorial on how to make it
I'm sorry but I'm not familiar with how to make the bria bucket hat 😭 maybe there are other tutorials on youtube or free patterns on google!
Not sure what I’m doing wrong but when I attach the squares it’s not laying flat together like yours
maybe you're inserting your hook into both loops on the side of the granny square instead of just the inner loop? or maybe it's your tension that is keeping your squares from laying flat..
@@angela.christine I was pulling the yarn though all at once lol
@@angela.christine excuse me but how many grams of yarn did you use??
Can i use dk yafn
