Hands down my favorite rye, fantastic rye. I find port finished ryes to be my go to ryes, and this one delivers. Slainte!

I get such a distinctly strong dill scent on the nose with this. It's just enchanting. The palate is delicious to boot.
Your root beer corrolary is a solid angle to root the experience - appreciate your insight as always Erik. Cheers!

So I bought this whiskey today almost purely on impulse. I don't have much experience with rye (so far I've only tried Old Forester Rye, Sazerac, and Bulleit), and so I wanted to expand my palette a little, so today at the liquor store it was a toss-up between this and the Redemption Rum Cask Finish. And usually whenever I try a new whiskey I look for a review to sort of follow along with as I try it. And yours looked the the most credible, and I really appreciate the way you broke it down. Thanks so much!

Heather Greene, CEO of Milam & Greene Whiskies, is awesome. Check out her book "Whisky Distilled." She is probably the first person to ever bear the title "Whisky Sommelier."

Unless you’re Weyerhaeuser drinker then drinking them can be a challenge for those with a somewhat delicate palette. I personally like all versions of whiskey which makes me somewhat of an enigma. I know many that only like bourbons or scotch and that’s ok.

    Hi Erik,
We spent the weekend in Austin at the Texas whiskey fest. We got to try pretty much everything. We visited the distilleries and spent some time with Marsha Milam who could not have been kinder or more accommodating to us. She gave us a free tour even though one was not scheduled and allowed us to try an amazing single barrel straight from the barrel! We also got to meet Ty from Andalusia and Jarrod Himstead. They were so pleasant and generous with their time. We left town with 20 bottles. Yes, the Revenant Oak PX sherry cask finish was my favorite. Well, that and the straight from the barrel that Marsha poured for us.

Awesome! I'm looking forward to returning to Texas in June to visit more distilleries.

Nice review. Have to put this distillery on the 'Visit List' for my Texas trip. On another note, will you be able to procure the new Ardbeg Committee Release 2020 "Blaaack"?

I'm working on getting the Ardbeg Blaaack. I have a reliable source who is getting me a bottle BUT I do not know WHEN the person will be able to obtain it for me. So, IF I can get it from another source sooner I'll jump on it.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies Yes, I can get you one for $175 total (which includes all tax). Let me know asap if you want me to get it. Probably won't come in for a couple months though

@@dramyankee2914 I may have already acquired a bottle. I'll know for sure by noon Sunday March 8. Thanks.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies Copy that. I'll be standing by to 'pull the trigger' if needed. BTW, I have no idea if the $173ish "out the door" is a reasonable price or not. Just what's been offered to me. Cheers...
