In case anyone else was curious about what a "Werghechel" is: It's a wooden board with iron teeth that is used to comb flax in the process of making linen. So it's not specifically for warding off evil spirits, but if I was a ghost I probably wouldn't want to mess with anyone that slept with one
Surrealism in the Swiss Alps? Count me in! The cool hand-drawn textures really give the game an eerie, unsettling quality, imo. And what's not to love about Black Phillip (loved "The Witch"), creepy haystack men, dark secrets, and a game voiced in Romansh?
Holy... I wished SO much, you would play this, but I thought, a swiss game was to... well... small? Being from Switzerland myself I am reeeeeally happy you play it! The language is the fourth of our languages, sadly spoken by not so many people. Thank you a lot for playing it!
I had to look up the language because for some reason I thought Swiss only spoke German. I'm guessing it is the Romansh language. Pretty cool they used it in this game.
Character: "I used to venture out with screwdriver when I got bored." CJU: "I can see that! Everybody got lost because of you!" A commentary from a conscientious citizen. I like that.
@@JW-28 It's just (British) slang for spending time doing unimportant or silly things, messing around etc. There's also 'faffing about' which is similar, but more commonly refers to doing things in a disorganised way, not achieving much.
The drawing style is just brilliant! Some of the people found similarities with The Lost Crown but I think the protagonist here is much more wiser than good old Nigel Danvers :) For now I'm loving the story and I'm very intrigued what is going on. It is obviously very Ingmar Bergman style plot with slice of Fellini closed in swiss village! With all this characters speaking romansh language and put in some strange universe. And there is one funny cultural coincidence! Since I know nearly nothing about swiss folk culture I'm happy to see here walking haystocks. In Poland there is a walking and even singing haystock called Chochoł (Khokhol) from 1901 drama called The Wedding. In the play he introduces mundane people to fantastic creatures from the other side and often give good advices while playing his fiddle's. Of course no one is listening to the advice and a play ends sad...
CJU you can take care of them guys fire style by setting the hay in the building on fire with them in it using a match. It doesn't destroy the building, or contents. You can also find a key that way in the hay barn by the house. I believe. You will need the tobacco soon you will see. Smoke has a coming effect on things.
The beginning on the bus reminded me of the beginning from call of cthulhu: dark corners of the earth. I was trying to remember what other horror game started with me sitting on a bus. Took me like 5 seconds to remember lol. Thanks for this, looks like an interesting game to follow!
Silent Hill 3 vibes from the mirror scene, really freaked me out but I loved every minute of it. It's those slow creeping horror scenes that really work in this game.
I haven't watched this yet but I just gotta say --- thank you for playing this series. It is one of the titles that I've been eagerly awaiting, ever since its trailer came out. Truly glad that you've grabbed this.
i am SOO loving these long mystery games!! just watched draugen yesterday, a few others. so good. draugen seems like it may be a series, exploring different stories every investigation. this is how they "tell their stories".
Just noticed the old man's face warping in the opening screen.... FORESHADOWING!? Wonderful work as always CJU! Great hearing your commentary as you enjoy these games. :)
I was looking forward to this game and I could not play it, so I had to wait for your playthrough and it delivered! Grotesque and unique atmosphere, interesting character development and most of all, superb commentary. Loved it Chris! Waiting for the next part with my hot tea and nice morning bed. Fantastic game!
I love, love, love the artwork. Hand drawn is just perfect for this. Definitely want to see more of this. Although, please close the door. You let strange little girls into your house that way, and maybe hay-men. I swear one time you will come back to one of them wandering around the house. Plus, maybe you could run over them with the Muvel... Now that would be fun and funny.
I really love this! So different than anything I've seen. I'm with you on this journey. I can't imagine how long this took to hand draw. I'm appreciating the culture, and in parts it is pretty creepy. That moving face on the table?! Some things are so unexpected! Thx as always CJU 💖
Mudaun is what happens when the hand sketched artstyle of Two Star Games' projects were fused with Unforgiving: A Northern Hymn with aspects of the OG Anmesia.
haha oh "can we use the toilet?........" that had me laughing, all the time checking toilets and suddenly you don't just get to flush it you get to use it. :) Also this is a great looking game I am looking forward to more of this. Thanks!
Oh looks amazing..love the hand drawn graphics. And yes a Lost Crown vibe. Very cool, will love to see more , thanks Chris ! Hope that your teeth are better ?
Welcome to Switzerland, nice you finally managed to come to visit :D I was hoping you play this. Mundaun is the name of a village and its correct pronunciation is in Rhaeto-Romanic which I sadly don't speak but it's the language they are talking in, it has some similarities to Jiddish. So don't worry about the way you pronounce it, I live in Switzerland and don't know how to pronounce it correctly in Rhaeto-Romanic. BunBun out :3
I always search for new people playing long game but I haven't seen before in that are different than what everybody else says I'm pretty excited to start watching this this was by chance with autoplay
I have seen a few minutes of this game so be interested to see your full playthrough of the game. So far a big criticism I would give this game is a lack of information like they give you info on what button does what when using certain items, but no info on the items you pick up and stats/inventory info.
Really unique game, I am glad you are going to play the whole game :D I also have to say Jinx to you, 3 times we said the same thing at the same time lol Love watching ya CJ keep them coming!
@@CJUGames But that didn't happen until after you got up from the toilet and stared into the mirror. Just how long do you wait to flush? (Sorry but you did walk into this one, how can anyone expect me to resist?)
I am currently watching this with psilocybin in my system... I am THOROUGHLY enjoying this texture 😂 ... I wrote that right as Chris says "high above the clouds"
I really enjoy the soundtrack of this game honestly. I am a real picky person when it comes to the music in a game i guess 😂. But this game seems interesting tho.. unique in many ways too. Ty Chris for the upload
Was this a re-upload with a new intro? I could swear you played this (possibly as a demo) not that long ago. In fact, I actually remembered a lot of your reactions, which is why I'm pretty sure this was the original video instead of a restart. Not that I mind, I was fascinated the first time and no less engaged this time.

Romansch, right?(not German Italian or French and especially not English).
@@shroomyk Romansh, Italian, French, German and exceptionally English
Had no idea they spoke a 4th language. That's something we did not learn in school. Cool.
Good to see a "part 1" in the title again. Need a bit of a break from demos.
Agreed.
And CJU is just the person for the job.
This game is beautiful, the artwork, the mood, the voice actors.. they are all superb and I really like the plot too

But it's worth it. These videos actually calms me more than my sleep.
the look of shock on my face when you sat down on the bog XD LOL congratulations chris, you finally made it XD
Nigel Danvers would fit right into this color scheme...all his awkwardness and all
It sends of Someday you'll return vibes, with the mechanics and being in the mountainous area
I like it when you “piss about” - anyone can rush through the game, but it’s not as interesting. Keep it up!

Really getting a Lost Crown vibe with this.
Yeah, I can sort of understand that.
