An amazingly gifted family. We have been so blessed to have them. I saw Mary Black in NYC many years ago. She performed this song and it was mesmerizing.
I first heard this song in a pub while bicycling through Ireland in 1983. It was the most beautiful, pure song I'd ever heard, and had a profound effect on me. It brings back such vivid memories almost 40 years later!!!
Mary Black breaks me heart with her lovely voice and her beauty...
The best female singer to ever come out of this Isle of ours. She was young back then in 1980 but weren't we all for Christ sake !
GOD BLESS ALL YOU GAELIC PEOPLE. YOU'RE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD.
I spent many months in Ireland between 2005 and 2008, and although I never could return back to this beautiful land and it's people, she'll always be in my heart and my memories. Nowadays, songs such as this and the occasional video keeps me satiated.
Love this ballad💚
Mary at her best. Brilliant musical rendition.
Sláinte a chailín !
A yes Mary Black at her very best ☘️🇮🇪🤙👏👏
What can you say that hasn’t already been said ,,,,,,,a perfect model for all who came after ,,,,,pure magic
A beautiful version of a fine old song.
Surely a sweeter voice cannot exist...
Awesome..Mary is the best Irish Lassie singer ever...In my opinion..
Still the great singer she has always been ,,,,,,,and braw tae
THE best thing to come out of Ireland - to this day!:Mary Black
Increíble... Piel de gallina. Tanto Mary como Loreena Mckennitt.
It seems the World was a more colorful, happier place in 1980, yet, yet maybe it's nostalgia. Mary could definitely hit the high notes back then.
Forgot about the Cold War?
@@marcopolo5150 good point, but the Cold War didn't impinge much into to my personal life in 1980.
Indeed it was. No internet, no social networks, pure music with no computers... We were more human.
Christ man did you never see or hear the news in Ireland in 1980? They were murdering children in the north of this little island for sport , both sides with equal ferocity and barbarism.
I love yours songs Mary hugs from Rio de Janeiro .
She makes a beautiful job of this a great preformance!!
Beautiful crystal-clear Celtic voice!!!
Heavenly and wonderful voice
Superb performance
I love Mary...brilliant...world class...
Brilliant voice
A wonderful voice.
Brilliant version. Thanks Mary
looks like she is in a castle room in this video. Very cool with the fire and all.
Happy Saint Patrick's 🎉
Radio in Ireland wouldn't play this for the word "whore" was used...draconian to say the least
Sua voz é INCRÍVEL
I wish I could see a picture of this doll baby, Anachie Gordon. That is an unusual name, which I never heard before. Is this an Irish or Scottish song? Gordon is a Scottish name. I know that in medieval Scotland, the parents of a girl could burn her at the stake if she would not marry the man they picked for her. Refer to "Bonnie Susie Cleland."
its beautiful my grandad loves this song me aswel i wanna learn it my god she looks so young then what age was she?? its so weird how this was 9yrs b4 i was born but im lookin at it now its amazing to see!!!she does a gorgeous version of the original she moved through the fair has anyone got any footage of it i have it on cd but would be lovely to see it sung live???xX
Where is Harking? In Ireland? Is this a true story?
happy irish christmas!
The younger Mary with the high voice was unbelievable. She's still great, but can't hit these notes anymore.
splendida
_Oh Mary....tá an amhrán seo go hálainn ar fad_
is this a scottish folk song?
Martina Murray no
It is Scottish.
I do believe it is a Scottish song going by its title. The name "Anachie Gordon" sounds very Scottish to me.
Did women really die for love like that in Ireland?
I love Mary Black but I prefer Lorena Mckennitt’s version of this particular song. Otherwise Mary all the way
McKennit's version is brilliant, but I still prefer this.
