    VERY cool! What race organization/class was this designed to compete in? I've been dying to start my own side-by-side around a cbr600 motor to race and this is EXACTLY the style and size I've had in mind. Phenomenal job, it is perfect!

    Clutch is in his hand. I think the two peddles on the left are for rear steer using brakes

    I think they are referring to the way the top control arm is kinda fileted at the point where it meets the threaded insert for the hiem.

    Why use 'car' controls when you have a nice Bike engine in it?

    I was wondering what set up you are running for a rear end? its chain drive, but independent suspension.. did it come from a quad? I recently acquired a wrecked fzo9 and was thinking of building something like this buddy to have a bit of fun with..

    Sorry I just re-watched the video and no realize that was stupid question. I paused it at 1:45 and the disc looked like a belt. It still looks different, almost like some type of hub in between sprocket and disc. I'm just looking for any alternative that will allow me to turn on pavement. Thanks nice buggy

  • @sprintcarNL
    @sprintcarNL 12 років тому

    you should put some bearclaws tires from a quad, your traction when increase with a 100%.
    but only if you drive a bit more dirt.

  • @fivestarbitch334
    @fivestarbitch334 12 років тому

    What type of rear end are you running? I can't really tell but it appears that it is a belt... Positive traction? I have a very similar buggy but a R6 engine, can't turn good with posi trac. Looking for any other options... Thanks

    @joshk525 2003 I think. It originally had an FZR1000 engine in it, but he got the R1 and wanted it a bit more late model

    Not saying he does not. another poster (SuperBmxbadass )asked the same question I had. At :17 in the video. Then you did a great job of answering it by going "HUH" like you had no clue, so I replied with what the poster was asking. But the better answer would be the moly tubing is tough to bend or something to that nature.

    Why would you built a A arm by cutting it and welding in the bung that way. Most just bend the tubing and have a straighter shot at the mounting point.

  • @ldmcnutt
    @ldmcnutt 8 років тому +2

    Sounds like it has a hard time putting power down. There is constant suspension chatter. Is that why you sold it?

    • @HoonTV
      @HoonTV  8 років тому +2

      This buggy sold a long time ago because the owner (we don't own it) was starting to build new Hayabusa buggies with billet reduction drive gearboxes. Not sure about suspension chatter, it worked very well when we tested it. Power wise I was good at getting the power down, but it would slide when wanted

    • @ldmcnutt
      @ldmcnutt 8 років тому

      Suspension chatter is usually caused by too little rebound dampening. And if the owner wanted it to oversteer on turn in, you just go up on rear ride height or increase compression dampening. That is assuming it had an LSD and not open diff. Seems like a waste of time and money to start over when all it needs is some suspension tuning.

    • @HoonTV
      @HoonTV  8 років тому

      +Larz let's not be rude now Larz. The owner builds drag cars for a living and built this for fun to take his kids for rides. This was the first time it'd been given a decent thrashing and of course suspension tuning could be done. He had the car for another year afterwards and raced it a handful of times with a few wins before someone offered to buy it. That's why he wanted to build a newer better one with more power an an in-house designed and built CNC machine reduction drive.

    • @ldmcnutt
      @ldmcnutt 8 років тому +2

      +HoonTV Let's not be rude? I think what I said is a fair assessment. You said the owner didn't like it because "it would slide when he wanted". I'm assuming you meant it WOULDN'T slide when he wanted it to slide. Not sliding can be changed with suspension set up or with different tires, like paddle tires on the back, changing the dampening, or increasing rear ride height. Is that a good reason to get rid of it and start over? No. Not unless there are other issues that you didn't mention. Even having a cnc'd gear reduction can be solved cheaper than starting over.

    • @Purpose_Bilt
      @Purpose_Bilt 8 років тому +1
