Hi Ambra, some will make the argument (and I agree) that there is no benchmark age for art and everyone has a need/desires art in their own way. You found it exactly when you needed to :) It's so hard to keep to some of these tips, such as the writing down ideas as soon as possible tip-- I lost a great line just this week!

I add, if you are learning or know other languages, it`s nice to read other literary traditions of poetry to know about the culture you are studying and, of course, to train and improve the spelling of the words (specially, when rhymes). Another good aspect you can get from reading foreigner poets is to gather other perspectives about the same or different themes/issue, it's expanding your own perception about the world (whether in reading or in writing) and giving your more style resources when you are writing a poem.

Aside from the North American styles (which heavily borrow in some shape or form from some other style-- as we tend to do with everything!) poetry of the Caribbean and Central/South America has taught me a lot in terms of how a line can carry itself.

When I opened a channel, at UA-cam, of poetry recitation, first I thought Just showing my poetry work (whether It is in Portuguese (my mothern language) whether It is in Spanish, English, French, German or Italian. But to keep some fluency or, even, some knowledge, I've been searching poets from many countries of the world (who writes on these quoted languages), besides add me more knowledge about these languages, the researches have got wider my perspective about poetry in general. And learn and improve some spelling.

Good point Y ur the horse. And I'd classify that as well under points 2, 3, and 4. Poets like Bonafide Rojas, Denez Smith, & Sam Sax who have done the spoken word scene before taking craft and poetics into account can bring the two together the same way artists Nas, Badu, and Kanye have done spoken word on Def Poetry. The rap game is quintessential when we consider the way words sonically sound or the feeling the beats within a rhyme scheme. I'll probably update this video at some point. Thanks for sharing!
