What do you guys think, Does The First Mortal Kombat movie hold up?

So I will say I agree with 98% of what said reptile an Lui kang best mk fight scene … but nerfing sub zero an scorpion is utter bs an as a die hard scorpion I can’t tell how utterly pissed I was at that bs W Johnny got 5:20 soo eff you for that 😂😂😂😂 am I will say I think if you take Cole out of mk 2024 , don’t quick kill Kung Lao, give us more tournament style fights it’s a banger but even still I think better than 95 imo
WHEN YOU STILL HAVE NOTHING TO POST
ABSOLUTELY! THIS MOVIE WAS CLASSIC🙌
They al suck. Maybe the first mk movie gets a slight edge, but they all were pretty boring and predictable like most video game movies.
It's better than the 2022 version
Got this movie on VHS, Laserdisc, VCD, DVD and Blu-ray. After almost 30 years this movie still holds up 🙌 It’s a Klassic 👌
We should thank this film for also giving us the iconic theme EVER
I don't care what anyone says, Christopher Lambert was amazing as Raiden
Facts!
Facts! Without question.
Not just Chris, everyone was amazing as their character, even the CGI Shao Khan.
No he was bad. He needed to be Asian not white
The MK Movie from 1995 is still the BEST till now in this very day. Fxck the reboot!
“Annihilation” the best one 🐐
@@TruckGod601 Oh yes!
No. both of them are shit.....
i like trash too
It’s funny to think the Liu Kang vs. Reptile fight was shot last minute because they didn’t have enough. So Robin Shou and Keith Cooke put it together really fast. And it’s still considered the best fight of the movie. 😊
Let's not forget that this movie is what influenced Kano being an Australian in every game since. Also giving us one of the most iconic portrayals for shang tsung that it would become the new standard for his mk 11 and 1 (2023) character.
Oh and it did something the 2021 didn't do. Actually have the damn tournament the whole first 2 games were centered on. Plus Raiden wasn't a dick who literally watched all his chosen kombatants get killed and do nothing. Christopher's Raiden actually was a proper mentor elder god, he didn't belittle his kombatants either.
Still the best Mortal Kombat movie to this day even being PG-13
Yes it holds up. Love the Raiden actor!
I love the music at the end when Liu Kang meets his brother's spirit and cuts in to the temple . Soundtrack -halcyon on and on . By orbital
That's my favorite moment of the movie
I love that immensely
Dude I was watching this movie yesterday 😭
Cary Tagawa's performance of Tsang Tsung in this movie is the BEST Mortal Kombat movie performance ever, of any character, across all movies/tv shows, etc. so iconic.
Bro really gave 2021 a point for being closer to the games when there wasn't even a tournament in that film lol
That 2021 MK movie was fuckin Trash
@@sharingan5618Watched it once, don't think I'll ever watch it again, where as the 95 film I've seen tons of times.
I liked the 2021 flim, honestly
MK 95 is still my favorite mortal Kombat movie. 💪💪🔥 The reboot doesn't compare lol
Got this awesome movie on Blu-ray
Best fights Johnny vs scorpion and Liu vs reptile
The 1995 Mortal Kombat movie is my favourite video game movie, sure it's cheesy as typical in the 90s but that's whats make it great along with the very likable cast who all did amazing jobs in their roles. While I kind of liked the 2021 film in some ways especially it's version of the theme the 1995 one will always be my favourite of the two.
Way better than the reboot movie
Facts
Definitely any day of the week
WAYYY better
You guys are high the latest one was better don’t get me wrong the first one is awesome but the new one shows the faitalitys and has better action scenes it was so much fun we’re as this missed what people known mortal Kombat for besides good characters and it also gave characters in that movie a chance to shine and also I’m excited for the sequel I know it’s gonna be good
😂😂😂lol yeah ok bro lmao the new has flaws for sure but no!! Imo
The Reptile fight/music is cinema gold
Pros
The soundtrack
Sonya vs. Kano
Liu vs. Reptile
The casting for Liu, Sonya, Johnny, Kano and Shang Tsung
Goro
Cons
No gore
Most of the fights are over too quickly and aren't even mostly 'fights'
Lambert as Raiden
Soto as Kitana
Scorpion and Sub-Zero becoming just a couple of goons for Shang
Kitana was good in this movie
Best Raiden is Christopher Lambert
@@MissingxShadow firmly disagree. Thought she was wooden as hell.
@@nnm3101 guy acts like he's high as a mf throughout the entire thing.
I agree with most parts, except Kano vs Sonya, and I didn’t like Goro vs Johnny Cage. Liu Kang and Goro should’ve fight each other instead.
I can't wait for mortal kombat 2
The annihilation soundtrack was badass too ..me and my brothers would always fight to it 😂😂
I still watch it. Sooo good, and I agree with everything you said in the beginning 👍
Awesome movie! Watched it many times! Wonder if you record yourself watching it on Twitch or they're just moments you used for the video
It will always have a special place in my heart, a time before social media, great internet, cellphones, etc. Watching it always brings that nostalgia. ❤️🔥
Robin Shou was an incredible Liu Kang too.
Ain't gon' lie... I thought this was MXR Mods when I saw the thumbnail
I watch Mortal Kombat 95 like every year since it came out and even this year still holds up
Lol and just today Ed posted the classic skins, lol you content creators have inside news of what is coming in future, ive listened to a lot of you guys, and when you make a curtain video about something a few days later "whalla, poof" its revealed and everyone is like, how did you guess that,😅😅
I've always loved the fight scene between Liu Kang and Reptile in that movie.
don't we all want our stomachs to be cut open revealing we have an autographed photo of Johnny Cage😂😂😂
UR CRAZY BRO!!!... OG MK movie SUPERIIIORR to 2021...R u kidding me!! Iliked 2021 but theres no comparison
These original films are so nostalgic to me I can’t hate them 😭😭😭
This is this best piece of Mortal Kombat media outside of the games, it's so good.
It's so krazy that we almost didn't get those 2 fight scenes.
💯💯💯 PURE GOLD. perfect rendition of the first game in movie form, had all the characters. They even hid Reptile from all the promotions and kept him secret until the movie was released. and gave him that BANGER THEME!
You know, it's sad what happened to the sequel. They shouldn't have rushed it out. They should have waited for Ashby. But it is what it is. Happy we have them both at the end of the day.
I like the 1995 movie but yall glaze the hell out of it and you over hate the new one
Over hate ? That trash didnt even have the main piece of the damn story MORTAL FKN KOMBAT 🤡
No. Both movies are shit.
@@Amp661 kinda
@@Amp661 you definitely haven’t seen the old movies or you like 12 luh brah go watch the 95 mortal kombat then the 97 film right after it’s good you probably just watched for 10 minutes
@@Vay0319 I've seen both old movies, kiddo, and yes even as a die hard mk fan I still think they're crap. Mk 22 was just the same. The franchise should just stick to games.
Music + Storylie + Scenes - Need to comeback for MKII.
Acting + Fight Scenes + CGI - Bring to MKII.
The fights in the original were faaaaaar superior in my honest opinion. The original film did not need jump cut after jump cut because the actors actually did the fighting vs the newer film it’s mostly stunt doubles so they have to hide the faces. It limits how the fight is viewed. It also becomes jarring doing a jump cut every 1.5 seconds. Also Sonya’s excessive spinning was DOGSH*T. It cheapened the film as a whole. Her spin moves belong in 2005 with trinity not in the 2020s
This movie was and still is freaking the best mortal Kombat movie ever!! It had the characters, the stages, the music and the tournament. Great script and great story! The only thing the 2021 movie had that was better were the costumes and the rated R violence.
And I thought people hated this movie and love the reboot god damn! Love this one and the reboot too!
MK 2021 is much more loyal. If it was release in the 90s it would be a certified hood classic. Nostalgia can blind people fr.
No it isn't lol, it doesn't even have the main point of MK, a tournament! Lol
Also let's not forget about Kano - the games didn't define him. He defined the games.
I literally charted out how "action packed" this movie was, and compared it to the reboot from a few years ago. While the reboot starts right off with a couple good fights, it's over 70 minutes before another fight happens because they're all just training. In the 1995 film, there's a half hour wait and then there's a fight every couple of minutes.
The 1995 film is scientifically more "action packed" than the 2021 reboot.
i love both movies. i know most people hate 2nd MK movie but to me theyre both great in their own ways.
When are you gonna react to the MK1 Endings?
Have you seen the homelander teaser made by Ed Boon?
I bought the Mortal Kombat soundtrack on cassette. I’m not sure why, because I had CD players at that point.
2021 has the Gore.
1995 has the Tournament.
The music, the scenery, especially on Shang Tsung's island is so god damn good. The fight scenes are good, and actors are fine. The ninjas look fantastic. I feel like this is probably the best video game movie, and it still holds up today. Compare this to the Assassin's Creed movie, you know which one is better.
2021 is more to Mortal Kombat games with bloody and gore than 1995 version.
This one was really a classic, cause it stuck to the classic arcade fighter
LOL you have to enter the blood code for the 1995 movie to have blood LOL
Tbh when it comes to the MK 1995 film I saw it on Netflix a few years back and to what I can remember the cast was great they all played their roles well and my favorites ones in the film were Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, Shang sung, and Sonya blade which btw she was hot/bad asf!!!
I can't wait for mk 2
MK 1995 vs MK 2021.
Characters: = Both 1995 & 2021.
Story Plot: 1995 Movie
Fight Scenes: 2021 Movie.
Fatalities: 2021 Movie.
I Can't Decide Witch Movie Wins This.
Make a review mkx, mk11, mkvsdc 3d arc mk game and maybe the first 3 mk games
Haven't even watched the video, but I came to say the movie is still fucking rad
YO CAGE, THE MARIO BROTHERS MOVIE CAME OUT FIRST IN 1993 BRO✊
Any news on MK2 movie?
Wow a movie that’s actually about the game.
I love the 1995 movie but its raiden looks like a gandalf.... without a beard.
Have you watched the animated movie Johnny Cage uncaged
Classic it’s so good!
Since MK1 released and introduced basically infinite timelines, I have a newfound appreciation for 2021. Meaning I can lend it some credence I couldn't when it released. The introduction of Cole is still a huge misstep IMHO, but it's more watchable now. Things I liked about 2021 were costumes and the implementation of moves from the games. I still don't like the new Shang Tsung actor. He just doesn't possess enough of a menacing persona.
95 was great because it did a good job of adapting the midway story to movie format. Togawa as Shang was flawless, such a great portrayal. Robin Shou as Liu Kang was an excellent choice, and its hard to watch Ludi Lin after Robin Shou's performance. Overall I think 95 was a better Mortal Kombat movie. 2021 is good in its own way, but it doesn't feel like a true MK movie, yet
Nerfing sub zero an scorpion bothered me a lot though like a lot
It felt the same as ryu and ken in the live action movie not as bad for sure! But still pretty damn bad 😢😢
Fun fact, the background music (score) is done by the same guy that did the background music (score) for Austin Powers, Mr George Clinton... and no, not that George Clinton.
Bro they didn't even have a tournament in the 2021 mk movie - how could it be a closer representation to the games without that core element? Also, Goro was a chump in the 2021 movie.
MK 1995 has the greatest soundtrack of all times !
Defending the 2021 is an atrocity to the 95. Not goggles just good story telling. Yes if they could have done mortal kombat things that aren't needed for that story sure. But dude it killed as a story without it
the supposed remake is its own movie and it doesn't step on the original movie at all
Have you seen the homelander teaser
1995 is more faithful to the story of MK, tournament, Liu Kang vs Shang Tsung, etc….
The 2021 doesn’t have a tournament, arcana and a non mk character as a lead. 😅
Your giving the true to the game lore to the 2021 reboot movie? With no tournament, different approach to the characters and arkana BS, not to mention cole young? Okay buddy ! Obviously you're a casual mk fan
The 2021 more accurate to the game? You serious? In which game was Cole Young? Or Arcana ?
In which game was Art Lean? Or Liu having a personal connection to Shang?
@@gavinhenderson7250 Go read the plot for the original game, Liu went into the tournament to find his brothers killer. Also, Art was literal fodder.. just like every other character. The 2021 movit made Cole THE main character, the fact you had to be explained this shows youre fkn dumb
Have you seen Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match? I'd like to see your reaction 😃
How is the 2021 closer to the game lore then 1995 version there is not even a tournament the movie is called Mortal Kombat i disagree with that statement brother....
It's a certified CLASSIC👌😎
Hands down Liu Kang vs reptile is the best and didn't the guy also play subzero in anilation ?
I at least watch this film 100 times a year so yeah its still badass😂
It's too bad they got a grandpa to play Johnny Cage in the next movie
A tie? Lol 95’ more to the game story. I liked the reboot as well bc they did sub zero justice but it didn’t hit like 95’ movie. Kano was way better in the 95’ mk. RIP Trevor
who care who watched what who Play in what year as u enjoy it friend Uncaged always good 👀u bro
They had Goro come outta a shed thats how weak MK REBOOT was
Just because of THAT?? get real.....
I love the Raiden cheese.
I own that blue ray
The scorpion revenge movie is the best for me
This film....is too good. Cant be replaced. Reboot was fun but felt more like power rangers episode whereas this film felt more serious and natural authentic.
If the 2021 had a more Rebirth concept it may have bedn good.
Remember what the 2021 did to goro never forget, atleast bad cgii 95 goro was scary
This original film is not bad for me I watched it it really matched the games same with the 2021 film
Anything is better than Annihilation.
Love Mk first movieeee
95 is the best, Annihilation is fun to watch with your friends and make fun of, 2021 is just bad. All four Legends movies I liked.
Way better than the reboot love this movie
Shang tsung in tha movie 1995...he is the Real Shang...the Real As Shang in MK11
Pros (Original): characters interactions w/ each other.. the cast, the music esp. the theme
Cons: the fights ( for the time the movie was released it was okay), cheesy/ cringey dialog, no fatalities ( Shang Tsung pit fatality was weak)
Pros (2021): some of the cast was perfect (Sub-zero, Scorpions, Kung Lao, Kano, Mileena, Jax & Kabal), fatalities, fights were amazing compared to the original. Kano was the standout
Cons: story was weak aside from the Sub-zero/ Scorpion rivalry, environments were bland (aside from the Pit w/ Jax & Reiko), cast felt like they didnt have much chemistry from each other (aside for Sonya & Kano & the little interaction between Kabal & Kano)
Why not watch it when the reboot came out
Even though i love the 1995 version. Am i the only one who felt a little disappointed that Johnny Cage defeated Goro instead of Liu Kang?
Yes, you are
I really like the Johnny Cage vs Goro fight scene in this movie, but i agree that it should've been Liu Kang since he canonically defeated Goro in the games. Johnny just wanted to fight Goro to avenge his friend Art, who has never appeared in any of the games.
Yes, you're the only one
You can’t do mk 2021 yet you gotta do annihilation
The only thing I didn’t like about the new Mortal Kombat movie it’s the tattoos if you don’t have it, you can’t unlock your powers. That’s the only stupid thing about the reboot
