    One time someone was doing squats at same weight i do them at the rack, and there were no more racks left so i asked if i could jump in inbetween his sets, but since he was shorter than me he had the bar bit lower so when i took the weight out I did it with really bad form (with no straight back) and i became very dizzy, I still did my set while dizzy because i felt embarassed. after the set i couldnt breath properly and something was hurting in my chest, I still like an idiot did 2 more sets of 8 while almost collapsing, I had to open the window to get fresh air and couldnt stand up without leaning on something. A friend of mine who is a coach was at the gym and I told him he told me to go to the gyms owner he will do some back cracking and massage since he once had this happen to him too, the gym owner really helped me out there because I think that wouldve been a long lasting problem.

    Why is she back there "spotting" though? Like what is she gonna do? You should just set the safety bars and get her out of there. This just looks like a good way for her to get hurt and hurt the lifter at the same time.

    • @Kn1ghtMan
      @Kn1ghtMan 2 роки тому +1

      I'm thinking the same thing. Moral support if anything but physically I mean come on. If he bails and let's the barbell fall in front of him she can catch him if he falls backwards I guess. But seen too many videos of the bar falling behind the lifter and the spotter tries to catch the bar out of instinct, so unnecessary. Only other thing I can think of is if his knees gave out, quads snapped, or any other leg injury and he was trapped underneath the bar, she could potentially raise one end up and free him, which still doesn't require her to be in the squat rack 🤷

    • @machinemaker2248
      @machinemaker2248 2 роки тому

      Agreed with both. I was thinking if he burns out earlier than expected, she could be the few extra pounds of lift that gets the weight up, but it also seems like she could unbalance him and make it worse.

    • @shalizzle793
      @shalizzle793 Рік тому +1

      I would definitely avoid doing sets of 10+ with squats just because to do it properly requires so much energy. Unless you’re doing really light weights for conditioning or for form, I’d stick to around 6-8.
      I’ve tried doing large volume sets of 225, with 15-20 reps, and it really just made me tired and hurt my hips.

    A slower descent, while potentially safer, does mean the stretch reflex will be decreased and therefore, your overall squatting ability will be lower than with a fast descent will it not?

    • @Heathcz
      @Heathcz 2 роки тому

      true, but most people lose tension when they descent too fast leading to form breakdown. from what i see powerlifters do slow controlled descent but olympic weightlifters do fast descent and squat upright cause probably carries over to other lifts

    • @natty1
      @natty1 2 роки тому +3

      Yes, you will lose some weight but it'll reveal your true squat strength and definitely more optimal in training to reduce the chance of injury and increase your legit strength. I used to bounce and I could do so much more weight and now that I go down slow and pause at the bottom I'm pushing much less weight daily but my pr numbers have skyrocketed.

    • @CJHan
      @CJHan 2 роки тому +5

      Higher the weight, the more prone you are to tearing something. Athletes squatting this amount of weight ABSOLUTELY need to control their decent.

    • @austinkavrar9259
      @austinkavrar9259 2 роки тому +1

      When the weight gets heavy I find it impossible to have a fast descent. Maybe you have to go kind of slow to push with your full strength.

    • @BazzGamez
      @BazzGamez 2 роки тому +1

      I think there's a balance here between speed and the amount of stiffness you can maintain. like bouncing to the bottom might give the biggest stretch reflex, but it's not really doable to keep your core and actually your entire body under proper tension while you do that. Maybe for some people this works but if i look at all the top powerlifters, they almost exclusively have a slower descent.

    Just curious, is there anything wrong with having feet offset in lift off? I had always lifted off with squared feet as in video, but lately I started using slightly offset feet and found it saved energy and made walkout more effortless as my feet are already set to take a step back. Always seems the first step is slightly awkward requires more effort to balance when I use a squared stance.

    • @MrRazmut
      @MrRazmut 2 роки тому +1

      As long as you're getting your hips under the bar and bracing before you take the weight out of the rack, I can't think of a reason why it would be dangerous to do that. If it feels good and saves you energy, that's a pretty good indication that whatever you're doing is pretty ergonomic

    • @christofferuden7680
