‘I’m a free woman!’. Rosie, your response to comments about doing things in a particular order was just perfect. Why ever not do things in the way that makes sense to you alone, the simple joy of it. Ultimately, when you live intuitively, Life becomes a creative meditation. And the things we make somehow emit a different quality that is impossible to define but is there nevertheless.
This was such a lovely video, full of your strength and integrity. Really appreciated. Your little house is being transformed beautifully.

    • @consideredwhisper
      @consideredwhisper 8 місяців тому +61

@@torbendinesen7121 Ah, on queue: a man to come along and diss a woman trying to live her own way! I have watched Rosie from Day One. I suspect anyone else would’ve knocked the cottage down and rebuilt using cement and synthetic builder’s materials. I don’t know for sure, of course, because I’m just an interested subscriber drawn in to this woman’s conscious way of living the way she wants while making a home for herself with her (developing) skill and budget level. Your comment is predictable.
Let her be, Torbend. She strikes me as an incredibly self-aware person, doing things her unique way and owning her errors as and when they appear. She is also rightly proud of her achievements. The simple joy when every time she opens that drawer brings that tiny rush of Joy is exactly the right, connected way to live - because it’s noticed. This is mindfulness in practice, connection with life rather than a slave to whatever passes as ‘the right way’ in consumerist western society. In my long life as an independent woman my experience is that there is ALWAYS a man, somewhere, shouting on a balcony (or in the comment section) telling us we are doing something wrong and only they know what’s right.

I long ago realised that taking my time and doing things my own way was the way to go, but this winter has been hard as I’ve literally not been able to do anything for the weather and lack of enough power to run power tools (am completely off grid), so watching UA-cam videos of other people making quiet progress has been one way to stay sane. Rosie, there is so much I admire about you: your formidable skills, your creative vision, your joie de vivre, the way you order your days, the way you prepare mindful meals, and how you take care of body and soul. But especially your ability to be content with yourself, something that escapes me.

I love every episode. I especially love how you just cope and rework things when things don't work out as planned. The best life is when we realize we can create options, rather than only wishing that everything will always be perfect. Thanks for sharing the Swedish Forest with us.

I make chapattis every day, but don’t bake them in butter. I have a flat undeep iron pan of de Buyer and this works great. I use lukewarm water and some salt. To warm water makes chewing gum:) Some people mix in some oil through the flower. I use a pannenkoeken mes to press down the chapatti. When you turn it before it’s brown you get the puffed ones. Enjoy your lunch !

I was thinking as you sat on the floor admiring it, I thought this was about the time Rosie would say CUTE, then it popped on the screen...you didn't disappoint girl...I love that you change it all up, avoiding the drudgery of it all...the cutlery drawer, what an awesome addition and will be well served, I bet you smile every time you open it...I have nearly made it to 75 and smile at all of my accomplishments I have managed on my path, alone...now totally painting my house with a brush, I feel so satisfied when my daughter tells me I'm crazy...is it me or my color scheme of Mexican brilliance, Terra Cota, mustard, aqua and cobalt blue...but it's beautiful and this crazy ol' gal can't stop smiling...do what YOU want to do, it's the best...I think I'll plant some flowers now...!

Edit: You have the same jigsaw I do! Mine couldnt handle the super dense flooring, but I bet it cuts through those pine planks very nicely!

Rosie…..so after following your home makeover, I actually made a step up deck to cover some old rotten bricks and cement that I could not get up, in my back yard. It’s a really simple 4 ft by 3 ft rectangle . I used some left over 2x8 wood from my privacy fence for the bottom. Then I bought 8 ft decking boards and cut them in half for the top. Used the left over wood screws and then stained them with stain my dad gave me. I loved it so much that I made a second one I have potted plants sitting on top of them. I think I will sit on one of them and try to meditate!

Hello Rosi. I love to relax when I see you struggel and love your way to get it all. Its now a must for me to tell you some things to make it easyer for you.
First: Look up for other sanding plates. I notice you use only the yellow one. Is it only one sice? You should use one big sending First and ending with a minimal one. In Germany we have big different of these, that makes the work effizient and fast. Look up. If im wrong. Sorry. It look like one and the same. Maybe look some German Woodwork Videos. It makes it faster an cleaner/smother for you.
Second. First messure, then build ist free (outside) together and fix it in, If you are ready. You make much trouble about fixing it in place. You dont need to.
Third: Go and have a look to someone to fix the trees nearliy your cabin. Some of the trees can be dangerous for you, and maybe they could be firewood for you. You need to call a visitor with experience to be safe in the stormy Season.
Sorry for my terrible english I hope you understand that I want to tell you. Love to watch your way. Best wishes from Germany.

So I just watched your new video and normally I try to leave something humorous or silly. But today I just wanted to let you know that your house is looking absolutely spectacular. I don't normally leave compliments because I don't want to sound like everyone else or make it sound like I'm just trying to tell you what you want to hear. And I know no one else is doing that. I just like to be unique. It's a Dave thing. So when I do hand out praise, I want you to know I mean it. I also like your train of thought on not being defined by fear or worries and will add to it by saying it's also important to not be defined by your past. I believe all emotions are natural and it's okay to feel them whether it's sadness, fear, or anger. It's not the emotion that defines you, but the actions that they bring forth that does. Your way of thinking is one of the reasons I started watching your videos in the first place. Just thought I would let you know that.

Beautiful job! Watching you reminds me of when I was younger and able to do more. I also installed several floors in my old house, replaced window panes, repaired drawers, and a bit of plumbing. Now, I rely on my son's, mostly because things feel so much more intimidating than they used to. Doing your own renovations is so rewarding and a huge confidence boost. Congratulations on a job well done. 🎉

I just love watching you work! It's amazing what a pro you've became, self-taught and creative. Your videos convey the message that everything is possible with patience, perseverance and will - I watch them when I'm down, to get motivated again. I just bought a house, it's mostly finished and not that remote, no comparison to your situation, but I'll be living alone in a tiny village with a dog and no car and a beautiful vast forest almost next to my house. Watching your honest videos kept me searching for this little dream house and not doubt myself when people were questioning my choices. A woman, living alone, with no car? Oh, but yes and yes a thousand times! All the best to you from sommerly Poland!

I dont comment often, but I watch each of your video's and they bring me so much joy! As for the 'chapati' that was more of a 'paratha'. I was a bit worried for you seeing you glue the floorboards together, but then relived to see that you didn't in a later shot. Also I see you did leave a small gap around where the old skirting is, which is important. I hope the floor will have enough room to expand, shrink and move with the seasons so you don't run into trouble. You did a lovely job all over Rosie, and it's good to see you're progress! ❤

You are renovating a house all by yourself, and you have to walk or take the bike to go grocery shopping. Not to mention that you have to carry everything home! Compared to my own sedentary life, that's plenty of exercise! But the running seems like a beautiful habit. Wood chopping and axe throwing are two cheap alternatives. 😁
