  • Going over what spring rates I'm running on my Jeep TJ and what uptravel I will be running.
    Remember that every vehicle is different and spring rates will change depending on weight. I am running fairly light springs and kept my up travel low.
    Thanks again for watching and subscribe if you’d like to see more videos

    hey man love your build and enjoy your videos im in the middle of my build also, very similar to yours 97tj one tons 42pbrs 2.5coilovers all around and genright kit currently stripping frame mounts and unwanted metal in the way but if u don't mind id like to know general idea angles of your coilovers so I have something to go by .. thanks in advance

      Ez street buildz cool man! As for your coilovers you’ll here a lot of guys don’t go past 15 degrees, but you can and people have done it. The biggest thing is it will change your spring rates and your amount of travel compared to having them almost straight up and down. I think mine are sitting around 10 angled in and about the same angled forward or backward. Sounds like you’re going to have a cool build!

    Who made the lift kit and coil over conversion kit

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  2 роки тому

      It’s not a kit. The coilovers are from radflo and I welded TMR brackets on axles and frame to mount the coilovers

    How did you stretch the front axle? I’ve been trying to understand how to do the same to my TJ.

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  3 роки тому

      Stretching the front can be a lot. Normally if you stay 3” or less it won’t be as bad. You have to remember that all steering components have to be in a line with each other. Tnt makes a kit to flip up the steering box or you can run an Astro box. Check out my other videos and you might get a better view

    Hey Josh, How did it sit originally in the rear with 150/200? if you remember

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  3 роки тому +1

      Can’t remember exactly but I want to say it was around 6” uptravel and I didn’t want to be over 5”

    How much space is between the axle and the frame in the front and rear?

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  3 роки тому

      Not sure. I built it at full bump, meaning where I would have the suspension stop during full compression using bump stops. Then I left maybe a half inch past that just to have a little extra room in case something would go too far

    What are the corner weights on this rig.

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  2 роки тому

      I’m not sure I never weighed the corners the while Jeep was 4800

  • @jeffdejong3786
    @jeffdejong3786 2 роки тому

    That’s pretty close to what my LJ weighs. What percentage of droop do you have with the 14” shocks or at ride height how much up travel do you have. I order 14” coil over for mine and don’t want to guess on spring rates

      Good luck it’s hard to do. Beat thing which anyone who sells coilovers should do is give you a set and let you put them on and get some measurements then switch you out with a correct spring. It’s so hard because every vehicle is different. I had 14s with about 4 to 5 uptravel to keep it low

      Also I was running steel double beadlocks. My tires and wheels were a little over 700 pounds for 4 I think. Not that it matters with coilovers because it’s unsprung weight

    On your front, what length of springs are they? Are they both 14" in length, both top and bottom?

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  5 років тому

      Bryan Spelhaug on the front I’m running 16s top and bottom

      @@CardinalOffroad Ok thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if two 16 would fit. thanks for the info. Appreciate it!

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  5 років тому

      Bryan Spelhaug yes it can depend on what rate also. And you want at least 1” preload so that can be a factor too

      @bryanspelhaug2135 5 років тому

      @@CardinalOffroad Yeah I'm replacing my 10" coilers for 14" in the front of my YJ. I'll have to figure out the spring rates for my setup as well but i'd imagine it would be close to yours probably.

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  5 років тому

      Bryan Spelhaug yeah it really depends on how you want your ride height. I wanted to stay pretty low but still have good uptravel

    Did you have to buy new springs every time or did they let you trade them till you find your ideal spring

    • @CardinalOffroad
      @CardinalOffroad  4 роки тому

      No most places will let you switch the out free of charge. They usually give you a certain amount of time to figure out what you need after getting the coilovers

      @@CardinalOffroad thanks that makes the idea of shelling out for coilovers a little less intimidating on the pocket knowing I won't have to keep buying springs

      brian murphy I would ask them when you purchase them. I think when I bought mine I had 3 months to exchange after receiving them.
