Spoilers and such: The Earth/whatever planet the game is on is experiencing a plague. The ruling council, composed of former rebels that overthrew the last tyrants called the Valkyries deployed a shitton of robots and mechs to find a cure in the recently discovered underground civilization of Eschaton, who worshiped Nyarthlotep. Peaceful negotiations failed as the cultists refused to share their knowledge and so the Valkyries and the Eschatons started a war. Said war resulted in their grand ritual, which was designed to summon ol'Nyarth into the world, becoming destabilized and turning everyone, Valkyrie or Eschaton, into mindless horrors (though the Eschaton priests were kind of like that to begin with) Of note, the first Huge boss, Dominion, was the political leader of the Eschaton and is technically the only human still alive down in the caves other than you, until you kill him. The second one, Hysteria, was a Valkyrie commander that raided the Eschaton civilian populace in that spider mech and thus got cursed into a giant green skeleton. Salvation was the former Eschaton high priestess who conducted the grand ritual, and Legion, as you can see, is the reanimated corpse of the Valkyrie leader General Waters and his mech, who is still cognizant enough that you can see him pull Nyarthlotep's shard out of his body when he dies in defiance. The two final bosses are more internal conflicts but whatever. Eshe/Humanity is fought in the Embrace ending where you choose to corrupt yourself completely, and thus the boss is literally you expelling your human side before becoming a herald of Nyarthlotep. And Nyarthlotep is self-explanatory. Keep in mind Nyarthlotep is the most Saturday Morning Cartoon villain of the Lovecraft Mythos, and is pretty regularly foiled by normal humans.
It's an aspect of Nyarthlotep that both serves as your melee weapon and is trying to corrupt you the whole time. As you've noticed when it fuses back into its main body for the Resist final fight Eshe can no longer use melee attacks.

Gellot as a suggestion you should do hellblade. I'm enjoying the hell out of it and I'm trying to do a no damage run and I can't quiet do it. I think you are more than capable tho.
"no hp damage"... so I guess the shield is indeed another health gauge... how does it work exactly? recharging very quickly? That gotta mean this game isn't avoiding all damage, but rather having you make sure you aren't taking too much... which is interesting in this kind of game
He took a perk, that loaded his shield with percentage of his max health (because the shield recharges by itself!), while reducing his remaining HP to 1! I did that for the first boss as well, but later used other "Perks" to modify my abilities. And well, you simply CANNOT get through this game (or the end boss e.g.) without taking any damage! THAT is simply impossible! Trust me.
Wonderful game, albeit don't underestimate the sheer hell that is Nyarlo. It's a beautiful boss, but it is also infuriatingly designed from a more casual standpoint because of the amount of things going on mixed with constant knockbacks. While Dominion had parts of being obnoxious to hit, Nyarlo cranks that way up since a lot of the fight is just trying to push through tons of knockbacks to even land a single hit. Amazingly well done job as usual though, especially doing all of them without shield potions.
My first play-through was on Hard too and good lord this looks so much easier. I don't understand, the bosses seem to crumble and with way less adds than I had. Perhaps I was just unlucky

I enjoyed hard mode on my 1st playthrough so much even more than the ez mode, really this game progression and skills in some cases can make gard mode easier for u, except for bosses (defeating enemies restore shield skill, convert hp potions into shield potions) so in hard mode u get a lot of more enemies so u need to play it smart but still balanced to some extent as u get more money in hard mode compared to ez mode to further upgrade ur skills
Gellot as a suggestion you should do hellblade. I'm enjoying the hell out of it and I'm trying to do a no damage run and I can't quiet do it. I think you are more than capable tho.
Whew, the shield is *definitely* needed for the Hiram Macias fight.
Contrary to what TF2 says, all-Snipers CAN work!
...Mostly.
Trust me.
seems to work kind of like the shield in halo
This was refreshing and awesome!
Hysteria is probably the coolest boss I’ve seen in a while
Okay, right now I'm watching the Dominion fight... and I am... my mind is... this is... the..........I'm speechless. o_O
Pure Shield Build is OP in this Game. Even in the Highest Mode you are almost unkillable if you pay Attention (and play alot, like a whole lot).
42:55
moments that have those strange tongues that seems that it is putting something
I was not expecting Hysteria to be as big as he was and i nearly shat myself.
I can see why you chose to take shield damage. In the second half of the game, it's literally a bullet hell.
Ah, that one old faithful boss strategy
the inability to keep track of the player model
**Reads title**
"No HP Damage"
Me: I see what you did there.
You make these games look easy.....
My first play-through was on Hard too and good lord this looks so much easier. I don't understand, the bosses seem to crumble and with way less adds than I had. Perhaps I was just unlucky
Thank you for posting this, I love sundered but can't really play.
Zamn, hard mode. Tough run but good job with it, also just me or does it ramp up difficulty with friends, I felt like the humanity boss did. Which boss would you say was the hardest?
Whats the name of the song that plays for Phatzu Othaloth's fight. I can't find it in the OST playlist for the game.
does anyone notice the valkyrie overseer gets bigger throughout the fight?
It doesn't seem that diffi... Damn it, Ternion!
(That's when it starts to get chaotic)
BOSS BATTLE-Gellot *THE MAD MAN* you cant seen to hit him
