Great video, it was super helpful to get a sense of what to do. It seems so much easier with shorts & a t-shirt. I was wearing a parka, winter boots & gloves. it's so cold way up here in Canada!
No one said anything about UNLOCKING the piston when installed. I just ordered a new piston because.... if you don't unlock the piston it is destroyed.
The piston should always be in the unlocked position until you raise the cover up (and want it to stay locked in that "up" position). Thanks for watching!
Dan, it appears as if you are still struggling somewhat lifting the cover with the gas pistons in place. I had a piston driven system, that when new, took only two fingers to lift into it's upright position. Leaves me to wonder about the quality of those pistons.
Dan I noticed that you installed the extension arm (cvDD) upside down. The larger finger goes in the hole that is aligned straight on the arm . the smaller finger goes in the offset hole. you have the offset hole on the bottom with the larger finger.
You are correct. Plus this video is 8 years old, and although generally the installation is similar, Cover Valet has made a few modifications to their design. So make sure to check the current instructions that come with the newer Cover Valets for the most recent installation instructions and changes. Thanks for watching!
The Cover Valet model in this video is one of their higher end cover lifters. The Rockit model does also work, but it is a lower cost unit and is a little bit harder on the cover over time. It is a bottom mount cover lifter and requires more clearance when it opens. However if your tub is outdoors, it will work fine for you. Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much for posting this video! We never could have installed our lift without your video! Great job.
