      The span and weight are probably too much for anything other than aluminum.

    Attach 1/2 of a pool noodle to the middle of each side of the cover. With the pump off crank to unwind. The top part of the cover will float away from the reel with its noodle. Both sides move away from each other and the top doesn't get pulled under by the bottom like in the video. Except a hard wind can blow the top under the bottom.

      So I have a 15 by 24 oval pool do I just buy a solar cover, and then buy the real I'm confused cuz I don't know I've never done this before I want to use the solar cover reel as a way to keep it covered in the winter cuz it's hard for me to put on a cover by myself. If you know of a place that sells them for less than like $200 let me know for everything including the solar cover

      @UGotHookah you cannot use a solar blanket in the winter. You might need to call a professional pool company to teach you how to maintain your pool

    I'm curious as to the thickness of your cover. I have a 27' dia pool. My cover thickness (including the bubble) is 0.25". I am preparing to install the same reel you have and am concerned that the rolled up cover will be too thick to clear the top rail of the pool to swing out of the way if I don't raise the assembly up a few inches. Yours seems to clear just fine. I'd appreciate your thoughts!

    • @nextleveldiy
      @nextleveldiy  Рік тому +2

      my pool is 26' dia and I have no issues. Depending on if your reel is in the center, you may need to fold in the two sides a foot to roll it up anyway.

    • @bkopas
      @bkopas Рік тому +1

      @@nextleveldiy Thanks for your quick response. As there's only 5" of clearance between the tube and the foot, I was concerned that the thickness of the rolled up cover would exceed the 5" dim.

    This is exactly what I need! How big is your pool, and how long is your reel if you don’t mind me asking? I have a 28’ round pool built level into the end of a deck (so I can only walk around about 2/3 of the pool). Trying to figure out what length of reel I would need for a setup like this. Do you find that the pool ledge could handle the weight ok when it’s pivoted? That’s my only concern.

    • @nextleveldiy
      @nextleveldiy  Рік тому +1

      The reel I bought was adjustable to most size pools. You can slide the main beam to make it shorter or longer. My pool is 26' and the pool edge is plenty strong to hold the weight. The reel is all aluminum and the solar cover is not that heavy.

    They sell a rack thattook me 10 minutes to install - It just hangs on the outside of the pool. - I pull the cover off and into the rack in under 60 seconds and back onto the pool in the same amount of time. Try not to over engineer.

      I've also tried that but with a 27' pool, it's very difficult. The cover gets water on it making it hard to keep it in a long thin roll to throw over the edge. It's also difficult to pull back over and you have to be in the pool to spread it back out. I've been using the racks on the outside now for a couple weeks and although it make work for some people, it's a 2 person job that requires you to be in the pool. Take me about 5 minutes to get on the rack and 15 minutes to get back in the pool and laid out nicely. Lot of work when water gets on the cover, good shoulder workout though. I've also had problems with the cover hitting the dirt on the outside because water was preventing it from being stretched out perfectly if that makes sense

    How are you unrolling it so you just flip one side over? Mine unrolls & one side is literally stuck UNDER the side that flows! I rather have to fight it with a broom stick to try & keep them separate so.i can grab it OR like yesterday had to actually get back in the pool to fight & separate them😢

    Curious, what size pool do you have? My husband and I just purchased a house and it has a 32ft round above ground pool. I am not sure if the solar cover reel for a 28 foot pool would work well enough. I think it may, but thought i would ask....thanks!

    • @nextleveldiy
      @nextleveldiy  5 місяців тому

      Your would need to attach the reel to an area on your 32' pool where it is only 28' across, meaning off center as I did. This means you will be folding the edges of the cover before rolling up.

      It has straps that are fastened to the cover with clips. You will need to make a few small punctures through the cover but it wont affect the cover at all.

      @TheAcadien67 Рік тому

      @@nextleveldiy I know that yes. But it’s impossible to install while the cover is in the pool, that’s what I meant. I guess you have to attach the cover while it’s off the pool. Put the cover on the ground somewhere and make a line in the center to attach the straps

    How does the solar cover effect your chemical balances? We don’t have a cover, or chlorine level is usually crap because of it.

    • @nextleveldiy
      @nextleveldiy  Рік тому +1

      Chlorine breaks down from the sun's UV rays. A solar cover will help slow down that process extending the life of your Chlorine.

      @nextleveldiy  Рік тому

      Correct, its not centered. That's what I needed to do to fit my situation but it works just the same. My tubing bows a little but that's normal. As long as the tubing is overlapping into each other enough, it should be ok.
