Loving the chat, been with you guys from the start, I have had (since new) an 05, 3.3 petrol Navara, that the only thing I have changed is added a second hand canopy (after removing the hard tonneau) and a 3" stainless exhaust in the last 3 years.
Before that from new was with a hard Tonneau, bull bar n tow bar, stock tyres n rims.
Have a Kings 2.5 awning, 60lt Kings fridge, Kings Solar Panel, 120ah agm battery, Aldi 4 person easy up tent (takes about 5 mins to peg out n erect) and 2 Aldi amenity tents, 1 for a toilet (chemical) n 1 for shower. We have 3 x 20lt water drums n 30lt fuel. Spun steel camp ovens and 2 different firepits from OzBraai plus a single burner gas and a camping butane stove.
Not the ultimate set up but certainly a great start to get away for a large chunk of time, subject to water n fuel range.
As a previous Pilbara lical for 20yrs Prado's, cruisers and Patrol's rule the area

I think that the best setup is 79 series with empty canopy.
The canopy space can be packed with stuff that is required for certain trip.
BUT I’m also a fan of Równiny small, very light camper trailer with basic kitchen , sleeping .
This way you can setup your camp and still explore the area with your car. That makes the biggest sense to me!

Another good chat guys. Just on Prado 250 towing, like the 150 ( just sold one ) it's lack of payload for towing that kills it as a decent tow option. I've gone for a new 70 series for the payload and strength
