Talking Top Gear with someone so involved in the process has been a life long dream of mine. So a MASSIVE thank you to Richard for coming on and being such a wonderful guest! after listening to Richard Porter for years on podcasts and then watching Top Gear repeats you can hear a lot of Richard's speech patterns in how the three amigos talk. He's a much bigger influence than he gives himself credit for
@@garrybaldy327 it’s just all made up 😂 oh dear. He’s so non plussed he sat there for two hours happily talking on and on about happy memorise all with a cheerful demeanour about him. Anyway we’ll just have to see how this format works out, I really like these informal chat type podcast things. It’s just a conversation that’s all, less formal than a traditional interview.
Richard is about to say something very fascinating regarding behind the scenes top gear/grand tour stuff, and the "host" fella cuts him off for some s**tbox going by.....
God damn that was a frustrating interview, the amount of stories that I was interested in hearing about that were interrupted and then subsequently forgotten about was unbelievable. Fair enough if you have ADHD but get something in place like one of your camera guys prompting you to resume your previous conversation so it doesn’t happen as much.
Interruptions at the beginning are fine and give the video a bit of character. Breaks after 40 odd minutes to talk about front axle space savers utterly kill the flow.
You can tell that Richard has paid attention throughout his life when he says, he is a 'lovely, lovely man'. Jonny possibly would have used the other t.l.a. as a discription.
Great insight from SSG Porter, but the video badly needed editing down and based on this, the host needs to learn to shut the f-up and let his guests actually finish what they are saying.
Of the trio, Hammond is the one still highly involved with cars, with his workshop and DriveTribe and the racing. So you could have him on and talk what’s happening now, with a nod to the past of course.
regarding pronunciation, I heard somewhere a long time ago that people mispronounce words because they've only ever seen them written down and not said so maybe give them some slack because they've expanded their vocabulary through reading, which feels like a dying art
Enjoyed this. The key thing about normal conversations is that people often overlap or topics change mid sentence. That to me makes this more organic than a regular podcast format. Nice job!
I've watched a few of these Waymoe efforts and enjoyed the chat but felt slightly confused, because host man quite obviously knows bugger all about cars. Which is fine if you weren't someone who had started a car channel. But this is a a car channel that has attracted proper car people within the first handful of episodes.
What a bizarre interview. Feedback - Great guest. Why continually interrupt him? What's with the cutting to the road and talking of what the viewer cannot see? Also the lens cleaning shots? Turned off after half an hour 😕
He asks a question but doesn’t want him too answer! Quickly interrupting with some random comment about a passing car… just let him answer for gods sake!
He asks a question but doesn’t really want him too answer! Quickly interrupting with some random comment about a passing car… just let him answer for gods sake!
Host has no idea about cars which is a shame because it could be a great format. Banal comments and constant interruptions are excruciating. Space saver comment was the last straw.
wtf is wrong with this guy, that he can't focus on the interview for a minute. He get's distracted by everything, from passing cars to dogs. It's like he doesn't care about what Porter has to say. What a muppet.

Shouldn't forget his podcast with the sweet sweet flute Johnny Smith and all that.
No named full beard camping chair guy
Best comment
underrated comment right here
Yes this is it

SSG , otsot
Cheers mate, thanks mate, bye!
Great show gents, I wonder how many times during this Porter worried about birds and their beaks and the vulnerability of his temples. ❤
1:57 a wild Manish from Chris Harris's podcast making a cameo appearance perhaps? 😄
Richard Porter saying really interesting things while a bloke with ADHD constantly interrupts him because he wants to talk about cars that drive past
Thats the point in the show...
Yeah that's the whole point of the show it's a "spot cast" where they talk whilst car spotting
I don’t get why there’s several people not getting that that is the format 😂

@garrybaldy327 They know each other, lol
They have other videos together

I think your issue with it is expecting an interview? This is a car spotting podcast with conversation?
Interruptions at the beginning are fine and give the video a bit of character.

7:35 The Aston ending in s13e7 absolutely seemed like the show was ending. It just hit different
Chris Evans ruined TG by making it TFI TopGear. Jumping around shouting 'We've got the Stig!, we have custody!' was toe curlingly bad.
Great episode. The early convoy was interesting. The Astra was a rare one. Astra 888 turbo coupe, it was a special edition and that wing was factory.
An very enjoyable cast on that side of things.
Thanks guys, I enjoyed the TG discussion and lesser-questioned questions. The behind the scenes stuff must be a treasure trove.
Sooo fahhhkin leafffy
love the astra coupe triple 8 edition in vonvoy with the gt6 and the 456gt
Lovely spotcast as always, great to see Richard on my big telly, we need more of the SSGs. Thank you.
Came for the carspotting. Stayed for Richard being an absolute SSG
What a massive pair of SSG's
So much love and respect for Mr Porter ❤
You can tell that Richard has paid attention throughout his life when he says, he is a 'lovely, lovely man'. Jonny possibly would have used the other t.l.a. as a discription.
36:54 Hammond had picked a Mk7.5 Fiesta ST, apparently
Great insight from SSG Porter, but the video badly needed editing down and based on this, the host needs to learn to shut the f-up and let his guests actually finish what they are saying.
"Zesty beverage" sounds like something from Pulp Fiction...
I do wish I could listen to more of what Richard had to say without as many interruptions.
Is that Tiff's superleggera leather jacket? SSG CMTMB!
as I found this video, his book is out for delivery!
Of the trio, Hammond is the one still highly involved with cars, with his workshop and DriveTribe and the racing. So you could have him on and talk what’s happening now, with a nod to the past of course.
I love the way Charlie has a better memory for Top Gear than Richard, Richard is desperately trying to remember things that happened 20 years ago
Richard had a lot more to remember.
"With these Ferrero Rocher you are really spoiling us!" - Everyone knows that, surely?
Sweet sweet guy

Tip top chat chaps.
Another great episode!
What an inspiration
Today I learned that the music I hear on the show is not the original music :-(
A stunning example of the marque
"PETER, YOU'VE LOST THE NEWWWWWWS!"

37:20 - it turns out Richard is/was Clem Fandango
😂
Sweet, sweet guy
could you try get ben colins on to the podcast
This guy’s inability to focus, sit still, and not finish Richard’s sentences is extremely distracting.
Yes. He needs to learn that great interviewers use there ears 90% more there mouth
And on that note at 57min im off
Agreed. You can literally see that he wasn't paying attention what Richard was saying at times.
Yup, agreed. Porter is great but this video was made torture by the host.
These are great podcasts but yes he needs to let them talk..
Glad I watched it. For Richard, not Mr Badmanners. But I won't be back
What a bizarre interview. Feedback - Great guest. Why continually interrupt him? What's with the cutting to the road and talking of what the viewer cannot see? Also the lens cleaning shots? Turned off after half an hour 😕

They used a gtr to pull the table cloth off
Porter and Johnny live together?
35 seconds is a bit long for an intro mate
He asks a question but doesn’t really want him too answer! Quickly interrupting with some random comment about a passing car… just let him answer for gods sake!
The SSG himself
Sir ranulph finda-porter
*North Pole special*

Yes I think I'd rather risk understeer than oversteer!
SSG's!
SERIES! Not season!
wtf is wrong with this guy, that he can't focus on the interview for a minute.
He get's distracted by everything, from passing cars to dogs. It's like he doesn't care about what Porter has to say.
What a muppet.
Too many interruptions. I'm out.
Could Charlie be the new Top Gear? That was a very fluent 2 hours.
No! Definitely not
Yes he could!!! He’s great!!!
Eagle quest
Richard was really interesting, I wish the host would let him speak though & stop interrupting.
was the racism baked in or just a feature?
?
