Thank you, Lindsey ! Love you're videos, so helpful as I start packing to snow bird with my 2 horses to Aiken this winter after 5 years of dreaming and planning, just 3 weeks away and can't wait. If love it as much as expect, then hope to move within a few years. Look forward to thanking you in person soon. Cheers and Happy Holidays.
I’m so happy to hear you’re making the trip with your horses! That’s what brought me to Aiken and I love it dearly. Excited to connect while you’re here! - Lindsey Vance
Now only 1 week to go, can't wait !! Only wish bought property last year before CV pushed property prices through roofs (good fory'all, not for those of us who've been dreaming of Aiken for years)
I have family visiting in the fall to scope out Aiken. If they end up buying, I'll definitely be buying an investment property until I can move into it myself. I love the Carolinas and have always enjoyed the hospitality and downhome American culture that is still prevalent there as compared to many other parts of the country, which are completely unrecognizable compared to when I was a child. While America is losing her soul, the South has kept her spirit.
That's awesome that your family has a trip planned. I have a relocation guide I'd be happy to send you! How can we get in touch? And you are on point about the sweet southern towns... and I think Aiken is simply one of the best! :-) - Lindsey Vance lindseyvancerealtor@gmail.com 803-443-3438
Warning!! They have teeny tiny flies/gnats of some sort that made both of my two scouting visits unbearable. The bites weren't simply annoying- they really hurt. If it had just happened to me on one of my visits I would have brushed it off. But no, both visits, and those were two years apart. I didn't find this problem anywhere else I went in SC.
Great video, I really wish I had made mine like this, you got all the points across in a short video with great footage and I feel like I just made a documentary ugh
I may be moving there from L.A. also. I've been looking at Columbia, Aiken, and the Greenville areas and would appreciate any advise. Can you please relay the humidity and mosquito situation in comparison to southern california?
@@lisastrunk361 Aiken is probably the most humid place I’ve ever lived at. Additionally it lacks content and entertainment especially for young people. I would not recommend it and in fact my husband and I are actively looking to move out.
Thanks for the informative video. 👍 This January 2022 I'll be moving there and I already bought a house. I'll be on Graniteville area. I am exited to move there and start making good friends.

Yes, there is so much to do in the area! I’d love to send you my relocation guide. I also have a new video of “10 things to do in the area” coming out Monday! - Lindsey Vance 803-443-3438
Could you please clarify something for me? If I move here from NY and already own my camper, will I be paying 'property tax' on it or did you mean 'sales tax'?
A camper is considered a trailer, so it would only need a permanent tag and a one time fee to register it. If you have an RV, that is considered a vehicle and you will have an annual property tax on that in order to renew your tag.
Unfortunately, my license law does not allow me to comment or advise on crime or safety. There are public websites that will show statistics and maps of any areas of interest. Another great way to find out more about these concerns is to join local Facebook groups and ask the community. - Lindsey Vance
No property crime isn’t an issue in Aiken. I’ve lived here for seven years now and we have never had any issues or heard of much for that matter! We lived in downtown Aiken for four years and moved right outside of downtown Aiken more into the country side and have been here now for three years!
Another con: Unless you're into hunting, sports, or drinking, there's no good way to make friends since everything revolves around those 3 things. Maybe I'm missing something.
@@NYVET48TFW Agreed. I'd rather have a small circle. I work from home full time, so in the afternoon I just hang out at the house which is not a way to make friends lol. But, I don't drink and have no interest in sports. Nothing to really do outside of the house for people like me haha.
My family is very liberal and we currently live in California. We are looking forward on moving to South Carolina. Just kidding we are conservative and CA has gone crazy!!! Don't worry, seeing the destruction first hand and will never accept that.
Umm what recreation exactly?? 😂 You gotta be kidding. If you want quality recreation you have to drive out of town. There is not a lot of recreation in Aiken especially not for younger people who don’t enjoy country clubs, polo, golf and are not equestrians. Everything is catered to old retirees and people with children. That’s probably the main reason young people either move out or develop severe drug addiction problems because they’re bored out of their minds which is why your crime rate is skyrocketing compared to other US towns. Thankfully my husband and I travel a lot so it didn’t affect us. And don’t get me started on the insane amount of mattress stores, car washes and fast food restaurants opening all the time. Also what friends? Lol Aiken is such a small tight knit community that if you don’t have connections you basically don’t exist. The only “friends” we have are my husband’s work colleagues and their wives. I lived in multiple different countries across the world and never in my life was I as bored. I hate it here SO MUCH and my husband and I can’t wait to move out as soon as possible!! I do recommend Aiken to anyone who wants to prolong their time on this planet since it’s so boring that one year here feels like ten.
I understand everyone has their own interests and ideal hometown, and Aiken isn’t for everyone. It definitely doesn’t have much of a nightlife if that’s what you’re looking for. Yet it is a very active town, and is as welcoming as you make it to be. I’ve been invited to a party by a stranger while standing in line at a coffee shop just because we had a great conversation over a mutual interest - I didn’t go to the party but we are now friends. ☺️ The activities and recreation are everywhere. There is equestrian, golf, hiking, biking, racquet sports, fitness groups, book clubs, music festivals, free live music downtown, arts and theater, breweries, martial arts, car clubs, public/state parks, amazing restaurants, hunting and fishing, all the museums are free, tons of history, wildlife sanctuaries, volunteer opportunities, and much more. It’s a small town, it’s not going to have everything for everyone or it wouldn’t be a small town. I appreciate when people recognize they are in a place that isn’t where they want to be in the long run. After all it’s what I do as a Realtor, helping people find their next chapter. I love Aiken but I love helping people much more! If I can do anything for you when it’s time to move, happy to be here for it. ☺️ -Lindsey

Please, don't come to Aiken. The infrastructure can't support the people that already live here.
Can you elaborate more please
An influx of people with money means dumping tax revenue into the infrastructure. ;)
I remember what Leesburg VA was like 30 years ago. When the roads get built, they will come. So what comes first, the chicken or the egg.
