- We have just landed and taken a train 30 min to the heart of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. We find our way to our hotel and show off our room.

The white striped paths along the road are called zebra paths. They are meant for pedestrians to get right of way when crossing the road except in Amsterdam (Rotterdam and other big cities probably too) ''no one has time'' to wait for you to cross so unless you take right of way they will just keep you waiting. Make sure its safe and just go. Everywhere else you will just get right of way at those zebra paths and people will stop their car/bike for you. Theres actually a fine for not stopping but again in big cities they dont care.
If you want to cross the zebra path, put one foot on it to indicate you want to cross!

I've been to Haag , there are pastel coloured bike lanes purple pink and mint color
(4.20 ) Don't walk on the street !!!! . First misstake ....
When the sidewalk is obstructed with scaffolding they had no other option. Besides there was no traffic at all in the alley so it wasn't even a mistake but a sensible decision to walk where there's lots of space. I'm sure they are very capable of stepping aside if there was any traffic.
